  1. Coasterbuzz... until I realized how much it stunk.
  2. Boulder Dash in 2000 Storm Runner in 2004 Patriot & El Toro in 2006
  3. Well S:RoS never has 1 train operation during peak times of the season so a 3 hour wait isn't too likely. The flashpass is never accurate. I've had it give me 2 hour waits when the line was only an hour and I've had it give me five minute waits when the line was 1/2 hour. I think it depends on how many other people are using the flashpass and determines the wait from there. How else would they guage it?
  4. Yeah it is. I haven't waited that long since the first few years it was open. Last time I went to SFNE the wait was at the stairs or less all day long. The whole queue is less than 2 hours so when has this ride ever had a 3 hour wait?
  5. Is this seriously running as good as it was in 2000? I remember riding it in 2000 and being so blown away by everything. It was fast, extremely smooth, and had tons of airtime. Since then it's gradually gotten worse although still a great coaster. That's amazing news and if its true then I have to get down to Compounce ASAP.
  6. They were added after the S:RoS (SFNE) accident where the man flew out of the train and died. Also added were side bars along the T-bars. They weren't added on Millenium Force because it has a curved T-Bar which keeps you more secure than the old style T-Bars that are on the S:RoS coasters. The shin restraints are completely unneccesary but they make the ride feel safer I guess.
  7. That would probably make the ride much worse. It would slow down the train and take away from the airtime and speed from the second half of the ride. I'm glad they stuck with the layout they did. Those trims have been there for a really long time. I'm going to say they've been there for at least 5 years. This ride was a beast pre-2001. It had the original drop and no trims. Now it is just okay.
  8. Boulder Dash is definately great and still one of the greatest woodies in the country. I would just suggest making sure you get to ride it in the late afternoon/evening. The ride is much better once it warms up.
  9. I have to agree that it's not that great of a ride. It's probably one of the worst B&M's. It is very short, extremely forceless, and has probably the worst and slowest ride ops in the world. The ride isn't rough though. The corkscrews are the only slightly rough part and that isn't very noticeable. They got rid of Wildcat in 1983 and replaced it with Cyclone. It then went to Rocky Point in RI until that park closed in 1995. It is currently operating at Sandspit Cavendish Beach in Canada and has been since 1996.
  10. Great TR. The park's looking good. I'm surprised the lines were so short. I've only been there once this year and when I went everything was a walk on too... even S:RoS. Those lights on Scream look awesome in that video.
  11. Preliminary drawings must be done at some point to show design intent. And those my friend are done by a drafter using CAD software. The design must be done before they can measure forces. Then the designs can be revised after those results are known.
  12. This one's easy: Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE. There is not a better coaster layout on this planet. Perfect combination of speed, airtime, forces, and everything in between.
  13. Most B&M coasters are forceless. There are very few that pull high g-forces. Patriot is a great coaster anyway though. Mamba on the other hand isn't very good IMO, especially when you compare it to the great Intamin and B&M hypers.
  14. They just use a CAD program like all other engineers use. There are lots of different types. They could possibly be using AutoCAD which is probably the most widely used professional CAD software.
  15. I'm 18 and went on my first coaster in 1998 at age 9. It was Thunderbolt at SFNE (called Riverside then).
  16. ^You forgot the #1 coaster on the planet: S:RoS (SFNE) The year 2000 wins hands down.
  17. Nice TR. Canobie is an excellent park and YC is a very underrated coaster. It is #5 on my wood list.
  18. Instead of a a top ten, I do a top five wood and steel. Ranking wood and steel together is just useless and too difficult. Steel: #1: Superman: Ride of Steel @ SFNE #2: Nitro #3: Storm Runner #4: Patriot #5: Kingda Ka Wood #1: El Toro #2: Boulder Dash #3: Lightning Racer #4: Wildcat @ Hershey #5: Yankee Cannonball
  19. Those George Foreman Grill Huss Flyaways are probably the most claustrophobic I've ever been on.
  20. I am very fond of Nitro's first drop. The back seat has great floater air and B&M knows the perfect shape to make their drops.
  21. Nice TR and pics. El Toro is truly amazing. I rode it 7 times when I was at GAdv a few weeks ago.
  22. I went on Nitro 10 times without getting off. I could have got a lot more but El Toro and Kingda Ka took up that time...
  23. Mind Eraser at SFNE. Yes, my first was an SLC but back then it was actually smooth.
