millertpr
Recent Screamscape rumor has the S&S Screamin' Swing from Dorney Park being removed. After seeing both this one and the one from Knotts being removed, I hope this doesn't affect Xtreme Swing -- I think it's the best flat ride at the park. The one at Knotts was a small one -- what about the one at Dorney? Anyway, I hope this doesn't affect us.
Svelure
Just left preview day. The weather couldn't have been better! There was way more people there than I thought there'd be. I hope they do this every year since all the schools are there opening day now. I like having a more laid back day. So excited for this season!! I'm sure the larger versions at Valleyfair and Cedar Point aren't going anywhere for the time being.
VF15
If anyone's interested, I've posted a photo trip report of today's Passholder Preview Day which includes some behind the scenes park photos: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71859
Lightning Rod
I was at preview day. The weather couldn't have been perfect. 75 degrees clear. I rode Flying Eagles fun ride about a half hour wait. I also did a few laps on Wild Thing. Was there any work done on Wild Thing? It felt really smooth. I also rode Power Tower few times no waits. Renegade had a long line only one train running will do that on opening day along with everything else. The park looked really great.
CaptainUnknown
I never really got around to posting my pictures from last season on here for whatever reason, and with today's passholder preview day, it feels like a good time to do so in anticipation of the new season and my second working Power Tower. Corkscrew's Corkscrew Looping around Power Tower Loop-de-loop! My computer's background Whosoever pulls the sword from the stone, if he be worthy, shall not get a headache on the ride. Extreme Swing blotting out the sun She'll be commin' o'er the hill when she comes! Heading into the final stretch For those that like this sort of shot...you know who you are. Sun shining over Renegade That dog should be on a leash Ferris Wheel Fountain Fountain doggy-style Vroom, vroom POWER TOWER GERONIMO! Hold the wife and hide the yunguns, the Renegade's a-runnin'! Snake comin' at ya! Slithering closer Rearing up to strike! And here's why every guy who rides sings soprano after getting off. Ska-ploosh! Looks like Wild Thing has a bit of an X Factor Rising into the sunset First we're gonna lift you up! Then we're gonna let you fall! Then you're gonna run around to the next ride! That's all for now! See you out there!
cake-is-life
I'm glad that everyone enjoyed Preview Day today! I missed it last year because it was on a Friday but wow was that a hectic four hours. The first hour or so was rough as we all settled into old routines--or for new people, got to run with people for the first time--but it was quite fun for us Ops. We spent a good 20-30 minutes scrubbing the Corkscrew train this morning, so I say your welcome to all the butts that rode it Ferris Wheel also got cleaned, and I can still feel the sway of the cars from standing in so many for so long. Great start to the season and it only goes up from here.

Wahooooo I went yesterday and was also surprised how many people were there considering the waterpark was not open and with it being Mother's Day. Flying Eagles looked like a hit, the two times I walked by it and a also a Wild Thing pass over there was a decent line every time. Rode High Roller and was happy to experience that the ride was not affected at all by the re-tooling of the trains. I would still rather have the bench seating and buzz bars back but at least the overall ride experience was relatively the same with the new seats and retraints. If anything, Riptide would leave sooner than Swing, but that delinquent child has plenty of life in it still. Swing is my favorite flat in the park to ride and work at. MinnesotaFriedOreo
Swing has had a few major issue in my years at Valleyfair... S&S is the Wal-Mart of rides.
John Peck
Not sure if now's the time to panic about the large S&S Swing rides. The swing at Knotts and Dorney, as said, were both smaller Pay-extra models. Cedar Fair has been removing a lot of pay-extra attractions in recent years... mostly go-carts.... and a few other things. But they have been adding Slingshots to some of their higher attendance parks.
FKA 'Playa
Our swing has never had any consistent problems. Oh, I'm pretty sure it got major offseason work after its first year in action. You remember--after it went down for nearly a month in mid-summer? I'm bringing that up mostly to say this: The rides BEFORE they broke it? You'd think it was Top Thrill Dragster's love child. If anything, Riptide would leave sooner than Swing, but that delinquent child has plenty of life in it still. You'd know better than me--but Xtreme Swing's a Ridership Beast. They'd keep it if it broke down weekly. Perhaps even hourly. Guests love that thing!

And I agree that they'll probably be keeping it around until something major takes it place (hah, right). Riptide is the problem child of the park. Heck, I've heard more about Venom being a "TTD love child" than Swing.

If that's how we're gonna look at it, TTD has so many problem children it's not even funny. TTD can't keep it in it's station.
Svelure
I saw the new valleyfair commercial today and I saw me in the front seat of the renegade! I've finally made it as a rollercoaster model.

FKA 'Playa
It's usually on during the weekday morning news between 6:30 and 7:00 AM on most local stations.
Svelure
^Where did you see the commercial? I saw it at 7pm today on cbs. It didn't even click until the commercial was over and then I was like wait, and rewound it. Of course I paused it on the renegade part and took a photo of the screen. Haha

WOFanatic
Good quote from Matt Ouimet on dark rides (from CoasterRadio's latest podcast) "We are looking at different sizes of attractions so that even a park that's smaller like Valleyfair can get it. So Worlds of Fun can get it. I think this week we solved it mechanically. Now we gotta solve creatively." Take what you will from that.
