WOFanatic
The one record we have going for us in the chain is that we have the tallest drop tower. While CP's Power Tower is 300ft, the actual ride portion is only 240. Our PowTow is 250. We also have the largest Screamin' Swing alongside CP. Theirs is only slightly taller cuz of the darn sign on top. I believe Kings Island and Kings Dominion both have taller drop towers. I believe you are correct. VF might have the tallest Power Tower but not the tallest drop towers. Welp, it appears I learned something new today. Looks like theirs is 270 ft. What was I saying? PARK CHAIN RECORDS WHOOHOO!!!1 I know right. So many good records there I'm going to keep all Power Tower related comments to myself from now on. But let's just say size does not matter (in this instance )
Meghna
If it's that blue tower is the best, don't be afraid to share! Come on! If it's that red tower is the best, talk to someone else... No one can get between me and my favorite tower.

I've never been impressed by Detonator. Fearfall, occasionally impressed. Indiana Beach's model, certainly impressed. But I've always been bored with Detonator. Multiple days, multiple seasons, multiple visits. I've wanted to like it. Sorry. The model atop the Strat's better too. Not earth-shakingly so. But better. Maybe you should head out to Galaxyland in Edmonton and discover how a real Space Shot feels...? Cuz Detonator's not it.

Lightning Rod
This is a couple of ideas I thought of. Is it possible for Wild Thing to replace the old trains and add new B&M hyper trains like Diamondback and Steel Dragon 2000 has? It worked on Steel Dragon 2000 and how much do B&M hyper trains cost? Also how about tearing down The Wave and replace it with a log floom? I think log flooms are more popular water rides. What you could to is move the Corkscrew exit and enterance to the right face it towards Power Tower and take out the fences from the Corkscrew exit and enterance and use that space for the log floom have a tunnel and two drops there's plenty of space there for one. Just trying to be creative. Edited May 5, 2016 by Lightning Rod
FKA 'Playa
Detonator is the most forceful of the Space Shots in the chain. 'Least boring' is not the same as 'interesting' and far less than 'entertaining.' Again, try some real Space Shots for size.
dippindotsguy8
Is it possible for Wild Thing to replace the old trains and add new B&M hyper trains like Diamondback and Steel Dragon 2000 has? It worked on Steel Dragon 2000 and how much do B&M hyper trains cost? I'm not sure why this keeps coming back every few months. While enthusiasts might prefer different trains, I have a hard time imagining that the park gets complaints from guests. So far the only trains the company has replaced appear to be due to negative guest feedback (stand-ups, which have very uncomfortable trains) or for maintenance reasons (wooden coasters). I'm not sure you would be able to generate substantial ROI on an existing coaster's trains if the improvements/changes would be minimal. I don't see this happening unless the Morgan trains become difficult to maintain. Also, I was under the impression that the conversion to Beemer trains for Steel Dragon caused a substantial drop in the guest height limit. There are many people in VF's market that are over 6ft tall, and so that needs to be taken into consideration. I completely agree that a flume needs to return to the park. However, I would rather see this happen in a more scenic area, perhaps where Dinos resides now. The location of the wave is very central and open, with very few large trees nearby. I would rather see that area used for a coaster someday (if the wave were even to be removed). FKA 'Playa
I say 'No' to a flume. The last one cost nearly as much as a coaster to maintain and for what? Waiting an hour on a hot day to maybe get wet? Guests can cool off in Breakers Bay wavepool immediately, as much as they'd like, for as long as they'd like. The Wave is enough 'flume' if you ask me. Get me (and a LOT more people) on, get me wet, get outta my life. Not that I dislike flumes in general. But there's better things to do with the money at VF. Full Disclosure: Was quietly hustled into the park as Breaker's Bay filled for its inaugural season to kiss its concrete surface. So yeah--I might be biased. ariznglori
New trains on Wild Thing won't happen. I'd like them to because I want to know what (if any) difference there would be in ride experience, and I'm short enough where the change wouldn't affect me, but the ROI just isn't there. Not unless Wild Thing were to be re-profiled and remarketed as a new attraction, but you just don't see steel coasters getting re-profiled. coasterbill
You probably thought I wouldn't find you because you're in the Valleyfair thread, a park I sincerely don't care about but I heard someone was talking crap about flumes so never fear, I've arrived... I say 'No' to a flume. Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad Waiting an hour on a hot day So wait, the fact that flumes pull HOUR waits on hot days even with turntables and pretty decent capacity means they shouldn't get one? Flumes have mass appeal. Everyone from families to thrill seekers loves them. You're like the only person that doesn't like log flumes... that's why they have hour waits. That's why every park needs one. The last one cost nearly as much as a coaster to maintain and for what? A better ride that appeals to more people. A Log Flume would probably be better than more than half the coasters at Valleyfair. Take Dorney for example... the Log Flume is easily within the top 3 rides at that park (with a similar coaster lineup). Easily... and it's better than all of their coasters except Talon. cool off in Breakers Bay wavepool immediately Such is the beauty of the log flume. The reason nobody likes splash boat rides and drenching water rides is because usually people want to cool off without getting completely soaked and wave pools are not comparable to log flumes because they serve a different purpose. People don't want to go go the car, change into a bathing suit, buy a locker and jump in a pool when they could ride a log flume and have a much better time. Flumes have hour waits because they're awesome and every park should have one. I trust you've now seen the error of your ways.
FKA 'Playa
Then why are you here? A bit fashionably late, no? Aren't there screaming and mic-dropping GIF opportunites to be had while Cedar Point grinds Shoot the Rapids to scrap? Wait--make that the second version of Shoot the Rapids. Or Adventureland in Iowa, who killed theirs for the Monster? Go on, tell them how wrong they are Cuz You Said So. We'll wait. *snort* Edited May 3, 2016 by FKA 'Playa
coasterbill
1) Shoot the Rapids wasn't a log flume. Shoot the Rapids was a piece of crap that couldn't float and had anti-rollbacks that allowed the train to rolled back and tried to drown people. The original (which was a log flume) was replaced when they already had a better log flume and their last Log Flume was replaced by one of the best coasters on earth which (I'm sorry) won't be coming to Valleyfair any time soon. That being said the park needs a replacement for the Log Flume. The park understood this which is why the built Shoot the Rapids, it just didn't pan out. 2) They're proposing a new flume, not an aging one like the one at Adventureland. Personally I don't like what Adventureland did but they're landlocked with few options. I've already discussed this in that thread. What's being proposed here is a new flume to replace a piece of crap splash boat ride which would be state of the art and immensely popular. 3) My post had more than a hint of sarcasm to it. Stop taking everything so seriously all the time... that being said, Log Flumes are some of the most popular amusement park rides ever conceived with mass appeal and every park should have one. Especially because the other options all soak you which people only want on incredibly hot days as opposed to a log flume that will basically always have a long line when the temps are anywhere from the high 60's on up and will still get riders even below that. RCjunkie
Meanwhile, the only other 'record' Valleyfair's set?Longest timespan for a corporate park without adding a looping coaster. Thirty-five seasons. ZERO new looping coasters. Think about that. Think about it? Unfortunately, I am still living it.
FKA 'Playa
Log Flumes are some of the most popular amusement park rides ever conceived IN THE 1960s. The golden era In which you appear to be stuck...? Never claimed to dislike flumes. Hell, I love a good Schwarzkopf too but I'm not going to pretend they're the wave of the future. Or that they'll bring people rushing to the park. I'm not that delusional! Oh--funny story! CF's Q2 2015 Quarterly conference call reported VF had a nice attendance bump from their new waterslide. It's public record. Do some reading. So everything you said about changing clothes and fluffy bunnies and whatever else? Guess people actually DO THAT. 21st century facts say you're out of touch. coasterbill
You're not making sense. - I never said water slides weren't popular. I said that they weren't comparable to Log Flumes because they serve a different purpose. The water slides have nothing to do with this conversation and neither does the water park. - Find me a Log Flume that isn't immensely popular. You yourself mentioned an hour wait. Busy parks absolutely have hour waits for their flumes on a daily basis (cough... Great Adventure). I don't know of a flume that's not an immensely popular attraction. Yes... flumes came out in the 60's and they're still ridiculously popular, timeless rides in every park that has one. If I'm stuck in the 60's then you'll find huge lines of people at every log flume that are stuck there right along with me. I like the Phoenix too... does that mean I'm stuck in the 40's? No it means I appreciate great, timeless rides. And again... chill out. My tone was incredibly sarcastic. It's a theme park message board, relax and have fun. valleyfairfanatic
Am I the only one who personally enjoys the panic falls body slides (Not speed slides) more than the H2OMG slides? I just feel they're more enjoyable since I can actually see what is going on, unlike having to close my eyes for the very nice water jets right below the trapdoor.
