Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I've never had a problem with teacups spinning too much as you generally have control over the spin rate via the disc in the middle of each cup. I recommend, especially if you can pack 4 into the cup and battle over spin direction.

I would like to see spinning teacups returned to Valleyfair. It's such a basic thing, but I ride them at any park that has them. I understand that the park did have them years ago, but I don't know how long ago that was.

Deep in the depths of Planet Snoopy, such a ride exists.

It's called Woodstock Whirlybirds.

Correct, and I don't think they ever actually had a set of them until 2011.

^I was looking for more info, as I don't know how a flash pass works and also why spend your time looking that up? What's in it for you? Just kind of pathetic.

I just thought I would let you know, I went to SFGAm for the first time last summer and got on all of the rides that I wanted to go on without a flash pass. I didn't get on The Whizzer because it was near the parks closing and it started to storm. But I was there on a Friday in July. As long as you put Goliath first priority you'll be okay. For any other trip tips, check out the SFGam forum...I don't want to turn this into a six flags thread

Koppen said a few posts back that he believes that Valleyfairs new speed slide complex may be one of the best if not the best such complex in the world! I thought about that for awhile and he may be right. Yes, everyone has speed slides but Valleyfair has assembled 6 speed slides on one tower. Two 90 footers (top 10 in world for body slides), two drop floor 65 footers and two drop floor speed slides with a horizontal loop! Can anyone think of a better complex that is focused solely on speed?

Two weeks to opening day! Yahoo! :

That sounds like a great name for a dark ride too. But if true for the dive coaster, that makes two legendary bird-themed coasters at Cedar Point, the other being Gatekeeper. Maybe they'll aim for a third legendary bird? Kind of like how Canada's Wonderland is expected to get Ziz eventually to round off the Jewish trio of Behemoth, Laviathan and Ziz.

If Valleyfair could get a trio of coasters with a linked background mythology or connection, what would they be? Extremely unlikely I know, but fun to ponder.

Don't forget raptor, lake erie eagles, skyhawk, and woodstock express.

Lot's of birdies at the point.

The first phase was the wave pool, the second is the new slides. Not smoking dip and dots, that is the current plan, it's not written in stone but it comes from someone in the know in the physical plant.

But really, why would they tear down a coaster, to make a parking lot the park doesn't even need? And they won't put in another wave pool, no water park needs two.

In other news, I heard that the new coaster at Cedar Point could be called Valravn if the B&M dive rumors hold up.

Not really sure why Cedar Fair is choosing ride names that some people may have a hard time pronouncing (first Rougarou, now Valravn). Makes me think that VF's next coaster, whenever it may come, might also have a strange name.

Exactly.

Plenty of water parks have two wave pools (Mt Olympus, Noahs Ark, Dorney, Michigan's Adventure), but they also usually have a ton more slides/other attractions as well. Valleyfair's water park is not at the point where a second wave pool is necessary...yet.

On another note, there has been plenty of discussion on this thread about what should replace the amphitheater in the near future. I personally think that the amphitheater lawn is where VF's eventual dark ride will be located. It seems like the logical location for one because it has just the right amount of land that would be necessary, and none of the existing buildings in the park are big enough to house a dark ride.

Plenty of space for a dark ride building.

It just sickens me that that amphitheater has been there for so long and I've barely seen it being used. I agree with you its a good location for a dark ride. I also have a strange feeling the galaxy theater won't last long either but just my theory.

They don't even put the amphitheater on the park map, so it's pretty safe to say that it's going to be replaced. A dark ride with a cool themed building would look great there.

I don't know if they will do anything with the old Scrambler pad for a while...the park needs a spot for ceremonies and outdoor staging near the front of the park, so it's as good a use as any really.

Yeah, last year that area was just used for some music performances, it may be just enough space for a small flat ride if it came down to it.

There are enough open spots throughout the park that they could fill first. The Wild Thing turnaround, back by the Wild Thing station, those grass areas by Corkscrew too...including the old scrambler pad, we need like 5 flats to fill up all the spaces.

And I would like to see...

Larson scooters (I feel like this will happen in the next few years)

star flyer (to avoid the windseeker hassles)

Pendulum (I think Zamperla was discussed?)

Super loop (eh, why not )

....

That's all I can think of. Someone got better ideas I hope

Agreed

star flyer (to avoid the windseeker hassles)

I would love to see this. They're absolutely frightening, and It would be really cool on Power Tower's Island if that ever leaves (unlikely, but it'd be a great view). Then something like Falcon's Fury could go in the WT turnaround.

Pendulum (I think Zamperla was discussed?)

Super loop (eh, why not )

Eh, pendulum rides have gotten overrated honestly. There's a good number of other flat rides and things that I'd like to see first.

I hope you're kidding about super loops. Just hit up the state fair in the fall to get your fix

Not a bad list, although I think we'll probably get a Slingshot sometime in the next few years since Cedar Fair seems to be jumping on the Slingshot bandwagon.
