Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Sorry if this sounds random, but I was just wondering, what do the rest of you think about Xtreme Swing? I personally think it's the best non-coaster ride at the park because it has a great mix of airtime and G-forces . Although, I've heard several people think that it's disappointing. Since it's a great ride, I hope it isn't removed anytime soon, but I fear that they might do that because of the reliability problems Screamin' Swings have, and the accidents on Skyhawk at Cedar Point.

Yeah, I'd have to agree, Xtreme Swing will be staying around for a while. Sure Skyhawk has had its fare share of issues the past couples of years, but those were really just random flukes. The many other models of the Screamin' Swing around the US have pretty much been operating without a hitch. They're a bit higher on the maintenance costs compared to other flat rides, but it's one of S&S's remaining non-tower flat rides and more reliable than anything else they used to make.

They're a pretty fun flat ride. Just unfortunate that they're a bit expensive. This was pegged at $6mil when Xtreme Swing was built in 2006, and I've seen $5.5mil for the models around 80ft tall. That's WindSeeker pricing there!

I've seen a lot of discussion about windseekers and I haven't said much about them because I had not been on one until this past October at Carowinds. I will say this, they are a big draw for onlookers and are quite beautiful to watch, especially at night when the LED's light up the night. Riding it was another story. Don't get me wrong it was a nice ride. I have heard from others that it is a very thrilling ride. I didn't get that. It was smooth, quiet and refreshing but not thrilling. I actually carried on a conversation with a guy in the other seat the whole ride. I know there are a lot of windseeker fans on the forum and I'm not trying to rain on your party, but Valleyfair needs more thrilling rides. Would I be disappointed if we got one? Unless it was a substitute for a new coaster, no I would not. I'd rather see a Huss giant Jump ride like they have at Canada's Wonderland. I know it had a lot of maintenance issues but maybe they have worked out the bugs and It's more reliable now.

On another note, I am now corresponding via email with Valleyfair's Marketing Director on a Coaster Craze event or something along those lines. We will meet sometime in the next few weeks to discuss possibilities. I'll keep you informed.

While we're on the subject of S&S rides, and we've been talking on and off about new Wild Thing trains, how about them new S&S trains like Titan is getting?

The trains are designed for Arrow hypers, but if they are successful, maybe they could slightly modiy them for Morgan track and put them on Wild Thing. They would be a good improvement over the current trains since they look a lot more open. The problem is, these trains only have 24 seats as opposed to the current trains' 36, so capacity would be reduced a bit. Also, they need to make sure they don't have a maximum height requirement like the B&M trains would.

I'm not a Valleyfair local, but here's my ten cents on the future. Will Cedar Fair give Valleyfair a new coaster within the next 5 years? Yes. 2016? Maybe. From the past spending trends on Valleyfair, Cedar Fair sees that this park has a bright future. Look at this year. Instead of giving Valleyfair the slide complex being pushed around, they gave them some unique slides. Will Valleyfair get an Invert? Hopefully. Eventually, Valleyfair will get some much needed rides, and it seems that Cedar Fair does care about this park. Will Valleyfair get new flats? Yes. That''s normal for parks to do.

If Valleyfair ever gets an invert, I hope they don't go for the records, but concentrate on the thrills. From what we've seen from B&M, RMC, Intamin, etc., taller does NOT mean better! Sometimes, the shorter, smaller coasters are the best ones out there.

This isn't very important but if any of you went to VF in the 2014 season you may remember a purple water bottle with northern lights on it in all the stores. VF just released a picture of the 2015 water bottle which is turquoise with soak city on it. This is just getting me excited for the 2015 season. Who else here is a season pass holder? WOOOOOOOO!!!

Xtreme Swing is a fantastic flat ride and the best flat ride in the park! And I doubt it is leaving anytime soon. Even though I am a coaster junkie at heart I like it better than Excalibur and would call it a tie between it and Cork Screw for overall fun factor. If it wasn't for Wild Thing's first drop I would even like it more than WT. Extreme Swing for me is a better total ride experience from start to finish than WT because once WT hits the turn around it gets very boring.

Xtreme Swing is a BLAST. I didn't go on it until last season because I didn't do any of the thrill rides until then, and it is easily one of my favorite rides. One day my friends and I got Fast Lane passes and we rode it like 3 times in a row. It's such a great ride and there's really never a boring moment on it. And the crew the day we rode it over and over was really funny too. 83 more days!!

Even though I prefer Wild Thing to Xtreme Swing, I'd probably like Xtreme Swing more if they ran it a little longer, like maybe on or two extra swings. Even though it's a great ride, I feel like it ends too soon.

I found this video for what could be coming to Kings Dominion in 2016, but lots of the things this guy said in the video about how Cedar Fair will pick their coasters shows what is likely and unlikely for valleyfair. It also gives hope for future Intamin coasters at valleyfair. If any of you would be interested in this then please check it out!

Are you serious????? This video is complete speculation. This video gives no insight beyond what is already common sense, don't duplicate your current coasters. For the most part the guy considers coasters the park already has and says any style not already in the park is a possibility. Duh!!!!!!!!!
