Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Hmm, let me change it up...

2016-amphitheatre destroyed, Mad Mouse and Looping Starship relocated to its space along with a Zamperla pendulum thing. Like a meandering Planet Snoopy-style area for the big kids.

2017-second major waterpark expansion into former Mad Mouse and Looping Starship area, paths rerouted around High Roller's final turn. Massive year for waterpark, seriously. Even get the old slides replaced.

2018-Wild Thing revamping and Windseeker in Wild Thing's turnaround as one big project. Park now has a great hyper after 22 years. (Actually, let's move this up to 2016 for the 20 year anniversary and push everything else back...)

2019-Dinos last year. Small Planet Snoopy expansion in area between Corkscrew and Ferris wheel with Larson flyers, bumper boats in Corkscrew pond.

2020-Long-awaited invert in Dinos spot, new entrance, carousel remodel, pavers from entrance to Planet Snoopy.

2021-massive RMC in Excalibur's spot or Intamin Intimidator 205 (lol). This year is the second part of a one-two punch of rollercoasters that brings Valleyfair's attendance way, way up.

2022-dark ride in back of park, new restrooms and eatery as well.

2023-New log flume, why not. New amphitheatre as well.

2024-themed areas.

2025-chairlift from back of park to Route 76, for the lazy (me)

A ten-year plan seems like a bit of a stretch, but I'll do one anyway.

-2016: Zamperla Giant Discovery that replaces amphitheater, and Larson Flyers going somewhere in Route 76.

-2017: $12-$15 million B&M invert that is built in-between High Roller and Renegade, causing relocation of some of the buildings back there.

-2018: Waterpark expansion #2, which removes Panic Falls slides and the old Splash Station.

-2019: Additions to Planet Snoopy and/or Route 76.

-2020: General improvements, nothing major. Last season for Dinosaurs Alive.

-2021: Triotech dark ride, replacing Dinos.

-2022: Waterpark expansion #3. Path from Planet Snoopy to Wheel of Fortune is rerouted, Mad Mouse is relocated to Wild Thing's turnaround, and games near Mad Mouse are destroyed.

-2023: More general improvements. Last season for Excalibur.

-2024: RMC wooden coaster replacing Excalibur. Last season for Looping Starship.

-2025: New flat ride (maybe some cool new concept that will have been invented by 2025) replaces Looping Starship.

IOE just announced via their Facebook page that they're coming to Valleyfair to re-program their Mad Mouse and add their IOE touch system!

I've always heard that this Mad Mouse was the odd one out of the Arrow Mad Mouse coasters in terms of operations and how the coaster was programmed. If I remember correctly, I believe this one had a continuous loading system that the mice moved continuously through the station. All of the other Mad Mouse coasters are programmed so they must be advanced by a secondary dispatch panel and also the main control booth and stop in specific blocks in the station with each one advancing to the next after the dispatch button is pushed.

If this really is going to increase Mad Mouse's capacity, then I'm all for it because Mad Mouse can have the longest wait in the park sometimes (not the longest line, but the short trains kill capacity).

Also, they changed the webcam angle so we can see the slide tower go up higher, looks great.

These slides are no joke. It's definitely adding to a trend of more intense experiences at Valleyfair--not two but FOUR drop slides and two even-taller speed slides, like thirty feet higher than the old ones. I'm sure that people will go on them, and the number of slides purchased suggest that the executives expect the slides to be packed. Once you get a taste of bigger thrills you can't help wanting more.

Is anyone going to go on the slides? I'm just so terrified of dropping straight down 100 feet. Who thinks dropping straight down with no seatbelt is fun? Sorry if you guys are excited for them and I am too, but they just look so intimidating.

I will definitely be going on the new slides once they are open. I can see where you're coming from because that's how I used to feel about thril rides. Just looking at them could make me scared, but once it started, wasn't scared anymore. I'm sure that once these slides are open, they'll be the new best attractions in the waterpark. The two speed slides will actually tie for the 13th tallest waterslides in the world. Pretty impressive.

Does VF have a proslide tornado yet?

Is that some type of sick joke?!

Relax dude, valleyfair isn't his home park. I don't know Michigans Adventure's water slides, so he doesn't need to know much about valleyfair either. I'd cut him some slack. As for me, I am going to go on the slides. Im actually kind of nervous for these but I'm making myself go on them because usually ( the same thing happened when i rode dragster) it's not as bad as it seems.

Nope. I'm not a waterpark guy. I'm sure they'll be very popular rides, and I think it's great the park is getting them, but I'll stay in the dry park. I mean, Renegade is in the dry park, so I don't see a reason to leave it...

Also, for people thinking about doing Coasting For Kids this year, it's on the 14th, NOT the 7th, other Cedar Fair parks are doing it on the 7th, but Valleyfair wants to be special.

No, if they did I would know what that is. During the season I go there all the time and I know lots about the park.

Yep, Valleyfair does not have a ProSlide Tornado. However it would be nice to see one replace the old slides in a few more years. I hear good things about them, and they look visually appealing.
