danderson83
I always ride Wild Thing in the front row, and I think it has very good air time. I do think it is better in the front, versus the middle or back. And thank goodness VF has a steel hyper in Wild Thing.
RCjunkie
I find it underwhelming, but that is because I always compare it to Superman: Ride of Steel (the SFA version), and that's just unfair given that one's an Intamin and the other is not. ...the heavy use of MCBR on Wild Thing certainly doesn't do it any favors. I find Wild thing underwhelming too but you cannot say it has 'NO AIR' like Fingers. That is completely ridiculous. Weak air vs. strong air can be argued (and is subjective) but to say WT has NO air time is just stupid.
Svelure
Wild thing in the back ftw. You get pulled over the hill so fast. I guess I never ride Wild Thing for the air time but more for the drop. I like drops. But, I still can't believe anyone would say there is no airtime. Someone above explained it that low gravity is different than air time so it's underwhelming to some people. I guess that's fair.
VF15
To me, the only airtime on Wild Thing that's really good is on the first hill after the drop. The air on the return run is very weak unless you're lucky enough to get a lightly-braked ride.

There is the low-gravity zone (which gives me a floating feeling, but definitely not ejector), and the second hill I always seem to get a bit going up the hill, but it's gone by the crest. Then there's no air until the bunny hills on the way back, and the only hill that seems to have airtime consistently (for me) is in the tunnel. Fingers
I really hope that they will look at beginning the days with multiple train operations, at least on the weekends. To me it is the most irritating thing when parks operate coasters at reduced capacities to create lines. They aren't doing it on purpose, coasters aren't businesses. It in no way benefits efficiency, if anything a decent line makes them go faster? (Wait, maybe they're doing one train to create a line to give the ops more motivation, yeah ) My apologies I worded that wrong. I know there are reasons to run rides at reduced capacities. I meant it as I hate it when the only reason there is a line is because they are running rides at reduced capacity. I find Wild thing underwhelming too but you cannot say it has 'NO AIR' like Fingers. That is completely ridiculous. Weak air vs. strong air can be argued (and is subjective) but to say WT has NO air time is just stupid. I Also to me Excalibur is easily the second best coaster in the park. It has airtime and fast curves which neither high roller or wild thing (no airtime but fast corner) have. Really? No airtime on Wild Thing? Did you actually go over the the first hill? If so you might want to try the front car then if you didn't get any air from any of the other seats. To me Wild Thing aka Mild Thing doesn't have airtime or at least didn't when I rode it. To me air time is when you are out of your seat or in the air. Yes there were times where I felt lighter but my butt never lifted off the seat. Also glad to see that people that don't share the same experience as you is "stupid" Man the Valleyfair thread isn't very welcoming unless you only say positive things about the park and think they need a B&M
Password121
^Never in my life have I understood that argument about airtime. It's not an opinion,it's been disproven on these threads so many times and people still don't believe it. What you're arguijg is that when you're stapled on a ride, the ride *suddenly* has no airtime. Take a ride like El Toro--NOBODY can dispute it is full of extreme ejector airtime, even though riders are constantly stapled because of this. You're arguing this ride has no airtime because you don't come off your seat. Airtime can be measured by accelerometers, not whiny enthusiasts saying "Nope my butt stayed on the seat, no airtime." Not trying to be ride here, it's just a ridiculous and unfair way to look at it.

I think you can see the frustration that is developing due to the lack of a new coaster. Especially an inverting coaster! It has been 38 years since our last one! C.P.A.Guy
Man the Valleyfair thread isn't very welcoming unless you only say positive things about the park and think they need a B&M Haha..it's funny cause it's true!! Wild Thing HAS airtime, but as many stated it is very weak and not intense at all. Still an enjoyable ride though. I'm excited to visit the park this weekend as it has been a couple years since I've been there. I might buy a season pass just because you get a free visit this year and if I go once next year, I already saved money..

I don't care, post all you want. But when you come into the VF thread where a lot of the people who regularly post here have rode Wild Thing at least a hundred times, then post in absolute terms that WT has NO air is stupid. If you would have posted it had weak air, only little pops of air or even qualified in your post by saying, "...at least when I rode it." then I would not have commented at all or just asked you to try the front car next time. But when you say all 36 seats on a WT train get NO air that is just factually incorrect and stupid. I am sorry that the TPR Welcome Wagon for the VF thread did not stop by to shower your post with high praise and instead you got my response. garyman6
I just spoke with Mr. Frazier while at the park. Valleyfair will announce their capital improvement for next year on September 12th! Only 10 more days! Wild Thing, first hill after drop, front seat, my butt was out of the seat for at least 3 seconds. Announcement! Wild Thing has airtime! Yeha! VF15
^ Thanks for the update. Now we know we're at least getting something . It's just a question of exactly what it is at this point.
Myself
I would not be surprised at all to see a set of Flyers...with WOF and CW's announcements, this would leave Valleyfair as the only park in the Cedar Fair chain without one.

madsencarson
I am so glad to hear that an announcement is coming. No, it probably won't be a coaster or anything in that category, but it brings alot of things to speculate about. Flyers? Did the permit get approved? A new flat in the amphitheater spot? Waterpark expansion? The list goes on and on. But the thing that matters is we ARE GETTING SOMETHING. And to me, that's definitely something to look forward to. Svelure
I hope it's another water park expansion. How do we not have any tube slides? I always love the toilet bowl slides to. Or maybe something like the scorpion tail? We shall see.
RCjunkie
I might buy a season pass just because you get a free visit this year and if I go once next year, I already saved money.. It is a great value. You will also get a Fast Pass for the day with the latest season pass offer. On another note, it is good to hear that the park has an announcement for 2016 next week. My guess is Flyers also. Maybe they will surprise us though and announce a new parking lot along with another water park expansion.
valleyfairfanatic
My final predictions: Larson Flyers near where chaos used to sit, some sort of development/demolition of the amphitheatre, and a large "VF 40" celebration of sorts similar to what Kings Dominion did. Jedi_man
I personally think that Wild thing is highly underwhelming, and has miniscule airtime. I have ridden it at least 50 times and this is my honest opinion. I have a little sister who has ridden it and also finds it incredibly boring! I rank wild thing at the same level or slightly higher/lower than High roller. It's sad because wild thing is three times higher! I also believe that Excalibur is the second best coaster in the park (Behind renegade). I would hate to see it go It has more force and airtime than wild thing, and I never notice any more roughness on it than renegade.
