^Mediocre? I really like Batman. Definitely more than Silver Bullet. It's a great compact Invert.

I like it too. But compared to Tatsu, X2 and Goliath? Not the first on my list of coasters to ride.

Exactly, Batman is one of my favorite rides in the chain IMO. And you could not compare Boomerang to B:TR, and for the part it's the last one that I haven't ridden.

I gotta say, though, you should ride it at night in the back when you get the chance. I did that the first time I rode it and it blew me away.

Batman @ Night with fog and lights was amazing! (Especially in the front row) Also, it started sprinkling, so a little extra water was a nice addition. Anyway, Batman is always fun to ride when it's open, but I wouldn't be extremely disappointed if I visited and it was closed. But, a night ride with fog...

so its not really an "accident" in the sense (as in like what happened on thunder mountain), and thank god its not serious injuries

^Hey its something for the media to talk about that is not a really issue. And they can go on to talk about how amusement parks are places of massive death and carnage.

"Tai-ot-soo"!

Was it really necessary to send "Sky9" over there to cover this....for what?

Okay, so there's the coaster, in the dark, not operating, nothing going on.......yeah makes a lot of sense!

Its so ridiculous how they jump all over something like this. Sure its newsworthy, but sending a helicopter over there, really?

Now stay tuned for a week long series of reports on so called "amusement" parks as they uncover the shocking truth, these virtual death traps have nothing amusing about them! Of course during all that nonsense they will typically neglect to mention the fact that amusement park rides are generally 1 MILLION TIMES SAFER than the car you rode in to get there and that you are more likely to have an accident in your own home or even walking down the street than you are on any rollercoaster.

What's interesting is that the park closed at 9 tonight (according to their website). I saw the report on the news at 9:20 or so, and was under the impression (before checking), that the park was still open. To the casual/uninformed viewer, they'd think, "OMG, a serious accident at SFMM.. man I'm never going there again."

I don't want to speculate on what happened - if someone is injured, I wish them well. But, at the same time, I'm just trying to defend SFMM and Tatsu's safety record.

Its really not newsworthy...how many people injure themselves every day, on both public and private transportation for example...do you hear about it. when its something minor? Oh hey, breaking news, fat person gets stuck in turnstile on the subway, does it/should it make the news? Person gets thrown in front of oncoming metro train by jilted lover, or retard tries to retrieve hat under Batman coaster and gets beheaded as a result...thats newsworthy...(of course, this is all speculation that this ti-ot-su injury was minor)....a helicopter, sheez!

I could see this story making the morning news show or a small article in the morning paper, but certainly NOT breaking news or needing to fly a helicopter over there.

Still early I know but it doesn't seem too serious in the sense that it warranted all of this.

Sometimes the news media makes me want to puke!

Speculation aside, this isn't good...the last thing SFMM needs right now is bad press...

For the park, this could either be bad or good. Some statistics show that, after amusment park accidents, attendance generally goes UP! However, it is true the inverse could always happen. Really, only good can come out of this. Good attendance can be good for the park. Bad attendance means shorter lines for the ride. Maybe attendace will be so horrible they will have to replace this with an Intamin woodie!

Okay, that last one, while my favorite, is probably extremely unlikely to happen. As for this incident, my chips are in that this guy probably had some medical problem prior to riding. How is that possible for a normal person to receieve a hand injury on any B&M flyer? All scenery is checked many times to ensure it is out of reach, and upper arm movement is minimal with the restraints.

My understanding is that this was a injury to a maintenance worker, not a guest. Work related accidents do happen(they should not, but nothing is 100% safe) and happen each and every day.

Of course with a high profile place like Magic Mountain it will be blown out of proportion. I just hope the worker will be alright.
