They are supposed to ask for a water break if they need a drink. I completely understand that the employees can't last the entire day without a drink but thats why they bet breaks and lunch. If in between those they get thirsty or need to go to the bathroom then they call their leads and have someone temporarily relieve them. Of course that requires proper staffing and you won't get that at SFMM.

No employee should have food or drink in their mouth while on the job (or on stage). They must go to their break area to do so. It is no big deal to me as a guest, but it does portray professionalism. Serioulsy, its not that hard. As a DCA cast member we all follow these rules with ease, so why can't SFMM?

SFMM employees ARE allowed water and only water. We use to have ice at our locations...but I haven't seen any buckets with ice in them since summer. . As far as carrying food around the park, it has to be wrapped in plastic at all times and you certainly may not eat in front of guests ( although I know some do).

My opinion on the Employee cellphone/drink thing is this.

I hate employees who text/talk on their cellphones while at work. Although I don't mind if they check their phone for the time like I see many people do. However, cellphones should remain out of sight.

However, as for food and drink. No food while at the panel. However, they should be allowed to carry a bottle of water. Again folks, the ops sit there at the panel for hours on end and add the hot summer days as another variable and thats why I think employees should be allowed to drink water (and only water) in the station.

Homer, you make valid points. I dont find "Soda" to be much of a problem either! As long as its capped, just like your normal bottled water. SFMM Employees are human too, they need to eat and drink just like the rest of us. We really have no place in gettin anal about this.

Cell phones are a completely different story. Like what Homer said, yes, for most its hard to go without checking your phone. But an ocasional check in my mind isnt that bad, do your job. Keep the phone out of site.

I can see both sides.

Really its not a burden on me to call in and ask for a water break. I don't see how its wrong to ask employees to drink and eat while backstage. But then I don't see why they should always drink only backstage. Personally it seems more professional, but others may think different.

Yes, all employees are human, that is why I personally have no problem with water. Water = hydration = alertness. However, soda does not hydrate you, is not essental to job fuction, and therefore should remain backstage/on breaks.

Watches tell time. I don't mind the glance at the phone, for time. It is the complete taking the cell phone out of the pocket, flipping it open to check for text messages, scrolling through the list, typing at 100 words per minute, flipping the phone shut and stuffing it back in the pocket. That goes for people at pannel, checking restraints, on break while in guest view, or walking through the park to get to a location. Reasoning: when employees are in front of guests, even on break, there resonsibility is to be approachable, so guests feel comfortable going up to the employee to ask questions. And they should even be looking around to see if anybody is lost, or needs help reading a map/taking pictures etc.

1. Safety

2. Focus on Guests

3. Job Function

.

.

3953. Using cell phones in front of guests

3954. Drinking soda

Didn't want to start a new thread to mention this tidbit, but was watching VH1's Celebrity Superspending of 2006 or something and they did a bit about Joe Francis' 33rd birthday held at Six Flags Magic Mountain last year two days before the official opening of Tatsu. It cost him $1 million to rent out the park for the duration his party of 5,000-some guests were there.

The new kiosks in Colossus County Fair and in Movie District are both outdoor merchandise locations. Both locations are selling merchandise which can be purchase at the near by stores: Guest Necessity Center and Attitudes. I am a bit disappointed that they are not Info Kiosks with Ride Time lists, show times, and other park information. I believe this would be a much better use of the space, and location.

An X train has been sitting at upper lift for over 30 hours now. Judging by the way the seats are rotated they had to do an evacuation. As I walked past it today there were some mechanics walking on the actual train...so I have no idea what's going on with it. Whatever it is, seems to be the train itself.

Darn it! I hope it's temporary (as in, it won't be down for months and months, again.) I mean seriously. Just get the new trains! I hope S&S gets those trains to SFMM ASAP.

...X IS getting new trains, right? I remember it being confirmed or something.

I've always wondered how they evacuate X, its quite a leap down to those stairs...

Do you just have to jump out of your seat?

^ Thankfully I've never had to evacuate X from lift. Only from readies/transfer. ( And in that case I honestly forget if there was some sort of a platform or something that was brought out. That was way back in summer. ). I do know that you have to carry up this huge tool that must weigh around 100 lbs and then manually rotate each seat. I'm sure some sort of platform would be brought out at that point in time to assist the guests from the unlocked seat to the lift stairs.

So yeah, I'll try to avoid being the one who get to carry about the huge tool to manually re-rotate. I'll go to height check any day!
