Back to back coasters at SFMM isn't a bad thing, as long as they don't restart the crazy coaster building trend of the late '90s/early '00s. If I had to predict what the 2010 coaster will be, I'd say some sort of smallish family ride. The park could really use a couple to balance out their lineup. travanx Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Woah someone else remembering that commercial!! Shockwave was my first rollercoaster when I went with the cub scouts to Magic Mountain. I looked all over youtube a few times looking but couldn't find the commercial. Because of that commercial my older brother went on with his sunglasses just to make sure. Also bought Play Passes with free parking for this year, since my current GF likes rollercoasters as much as I do. We are planning on going for a few hours this weekend to get started on making these worth the money. Scream is my new 2nd favorite rollercoaster. Mostly because I almost can touch the tracks with my feet which scares me. ^ Shockwave had the cheesiest 80's commercial. I searched for it but I couldn't find it. It had all these dudes that looked alike, wearing shades, riding the coaster with completely stoic expressions. Anyone remember that? Another new coaster at SFMM sounds great to me. I worked at a company that would have most likely been the engrs when they were thinking of putting up houses over the six flags site. Anyways, can't they just build another coaster out on the parking lot? where could SFMM possibly build another coaster its totally packed they would have to destroy a coaster to build a coaster Six Flags owns a lot of land that sits behind the park. They wouldnt have to worry about room at all, they'd just simply expand the park boundaries. Cant say the same for Knott's though My hope is, if its a big thrilling coaster, that we'd get a B&M Dive Machine. DBJ Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 They also can do more modest options like a Zamperla Surf's Up or Mega Disko Coaster. Plenty of space for those kind of smaller coasters. As long as they don't try to do anything like the Batman indoor mild mouse at SFMM, they really can't go to wrong with a coaster choice. With steel prices at an all time low, it's probably a really good time to lock in some contracts. I imagine Wiggles World will be taking over the Flashback spot. There is also a decent amount of Space between X and Viper. Let's keep in mind that we still don't know the size of this alleged ride, so it may not require much space at all. Personally, I would change Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls water slide so that it is part of HH. Imagine a waterslide that started at the edge of Hurricane Harbor closest to Colossus that left the park and wound around and through the first turnaround of Colossus, then came back into Hurricane Harbor, where riders finally got out. They could build something like that into the world's longest waterslide. Sounds like a joke, but I think it'd be something really cool and different. It wouldn't take up any extra land because it would run over land already in use. Of course it would be an enclosed slide, if for nothing else to keep riders inside. Chris. I still think that if they are going to ever put in a real drop tower it *NEEDS* to go on the top of the mountain! Sort of "Pitfall!" style. Imagine a drop tower where the old Skyway station is on the top of the hill. The mountaintop location is what makes Tatsu as good as it is. Going around the so-called "egg turn" is one of the highlights of the ride for me because you're so high at that point and it's a great view of the west side of the park---and even better at night. I used to not buy into the "the higher the ride (drop tower) is placed, the better the ride experience", but after riding Big Shot at Stratosphere that threw that notion right out of the window. John Peck Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 My idea is them buying Disney's Maiboomer and putting it in that Circle area in Supermans Plaza, and pull Superman out completely thus renaming the Maliboomer "Superman: Tower of Power" Then pull out Deja Vu and put Wiggles World or a Boardwalk there Pull out the Swinging Ship and Yo Yo remains and put a large 150' Wheel on the side of the hill overlooking the County Fair, (The Swinging ship goes to the boardwalk, the Yo Yo gets replaced by the Gothem City Crime Wave as I mentioned earlier) Oh, and instead of a Master Blaster or waterslide... I could see a really good spinning coaster like Dragon's Fury (Big Spin is okay, but the Maurer Söhne coasters are better), or the rumored west coast El Loco. Either one would be good for SFMM, and the park would be able to continue becoming family friendly. If they have the money, maybe they could toss in a few flat rides too. I would call Terminator a thrilling family coaster just like Viper(SFGAM) or Evel Knivel. Terminator will be able to be enjoyed by all and not just thrill seekers. Also, the building of so many thrill rides is one reason that Six Flags is in the financial mess that it is. Even though a family coaster will be good for the park, SFMM needs more flat rides such as a disk-o, dark ride, sky swat, screamin swing, tilt-a-whirl. Like the other spinning coaster. Like Jaguard... So if you wanna ride kiddie rides, you should go to Disneyland and Knotts. Six Flags Magic Mountain needs a real intense coaster this time. (But they made cdonride on Xcelerator, i think it's better than pictures onride, Six Flags Magic Mountain should do this on X2, Goliath and Tatsu, that'd be fun - they also should do it at SF Great Adventure on Kingda Ka i love this ride) So happy to ride 2 new coasters in 2 years though... And Terminator will be a great ride. But I agree with you when u say SFMM needs more flat rides !
