P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

I can see Jet Stream being removed. It's maintenance costs have to be getting larger and larger every year. Just from when I worked there a pump was out, the station motor had to be replaced because it burned out, and the ride had to get an extensive reprogramming (that made things worse) due to a freak accident on the lift. Plus a mechanic has to come drain boats every hour. I think it's nearing the end of useful life (let the Aquatrax rumors begin).

I'm still hopin' for my my Giant Frisbee dreams!

Now coming back to reality, before SFMM can get extreme flats, they actually need...well flats, and updated ones at that.

BY THE WAY:

Who is good with Wikipedia and Six Flags Magic Mountain history? Whoever input the information on the current SFMM Wiki page is nuts. I tried editing some stuff but I don't want to mess things up. I've only read the Sarajevo Bobsleds, Shockwave, and Flashback bits and there are a lot of things wrong there, so if anyone wishes to fix it please do. It's rather annoying.

I'm saying these things about MM because I lived there as a kid and I loved the park. When Six Flags bought it it started to go down hill. I went less and less. My son was born in 93 and it wasn't till 3 months ago that I went to MM. Hell I live 30min away but I had no interest in going. When I went in September I was sick at what I saw. The place was empty (not a bad thing) and really dirty but the employees were nice and friendly. It was just a shock to see the place get so beaten up in the last 15 years. Remember I'm new to this coaster stuff. I was always scared to ride them. I loved reading about them watching them get built but ride them......NO WAY!! I just started to ride and I'm enjoying myself. I just want to see MM do well. It's so close to me I would love to get a pass but I'm still not sure. I hope the new team has the parks best interests in mind and not just the bottom line.

I was looking at the Intamin wiki page and it said the first ever coaser installed by Intamin was Revolution at SFMM! I was thinking yeah right!

^More like people who think they know it all, or perhaps this just copied and pasted information on there.

Intamin? Haha, Revolution would put Intamin to shame, but being as it is a Schwarzkopf, it's understandable.

Blahhhhhhh. I wish Theme park pages were harder to edit and less available to the GP.

I disagree about the lack of TLC. I think it gets TLC, just in a different manner.

The Deja Vu and Jetstream rumor: I don't get why Jet Stream would have any connection with Deja Vu going as they aren't even close. Other reasons would lead to JS's removal but nothing with the proximity of Deja Vu. Deja as we know it is safe for now.

Closing the back end: I doubt it will happen. First of all, guests will complain about having to walk up and down a hill to reach a spot in the park (or even walking back around all the way). Second, it's not like MM is never getting a coaster again. That would be a prime spot for a new coaster in a few years, whether it be big or small. Hell even a nice mega flat would be nice.

Flashback's spot: I understand why people want it to be part of HH, but I've heard from people that they've wanted that spot turned into the new Entrance for HH. I don't understand how that would work, as (I believe) you'd have to walk through the park gates before going to the HH gates, and I don't think they plan on making HH free admission. If you understand where I'm going with this, I'm saying they would need to figure out a way for people to enter the park free and then get to the entrance of HH without paying (this could lead people to say they're going to HH and just continue staying in the park...free of charge). A tad confusing eh? I say if anything, turn it into a water slide area or something, as much as I'd like it to stay part of the park.

Man, those demo picks are a bummer. I always thought Flashback was awesome, even though I never got to ride it. I've said it again, but I'll reiterate: ONE-OF-A-KIND COASTERS SHOULD NOT BE DISMANTLED, even if they suck!

I know there are a lot of giant boomerangs out there, but I kind of feel the same way about Vu.

I have this really odd feeling like 15 years from now people will talk about Flashback like it was the best coaster on earth and SFMM committed some sort of sin by destroying such an amazing ride.

I give it a year. ACErs/enthusiasses love to yammer about coasters that are gone and people cannot ride any more, and especially love to talk about how amazing they were. Just another form of immature bragging.

Flashback sucked. Like Psyclone, I won't miss it. I laughed at hearing how they're dismantling it. I'd love to hear pieces of it fall to the ground. It would make me giggle.

HH is a blast.I take my kids every year and we have a wonderful time. I think if I was younger without kids I wouldn't be into it. Speaking of being beat up HH is a mess. Half the stuff doesn't work and hasn't worked in years. It's funny when parks build stuff and let fall into such disrepair that it can't be repaired so they tear it down.Remember that stupid water sphere in Tomorrow land. After a year it was all jacked up and they left it in without fixing it. It was an eye soar. I wish they would repair things as they break.I wish they would have left Flashback and maybe had it open during summer or something like that but not tear it down.My last visit to MM my son and I walked all through Flashback. The gate going to the ride was open so we went in.It was creepy like walking into a ghost town. Who knows what they will do with the area. Maybe they could store more old attractions.

I still have a commerative cup from Flashback's imnaugaral season at SFMM in 1992, which is where I spent first full day on USA soil. If I hadn't seen Encino Man just before I left I wouldn't have known about the mountain.

Maybe I should melt the cup just like they will do with the coaster.

Why whenever I think of Flashback, a line from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (paraphrased) comes to mind: "Burn it like a rat, burn it like a rat."

I saw speculation on Screamscape, well it was more an idea to re-theme Flashback after the Saw franchise, how apt, another torture machine for jigsaw.

I never rode it but everyone tells me it was a headache machine.
