The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Page 2218 - Wonder Woman Roller Coaster for 2022!

It'll only last until KBF re-tracks or gives Ghostrider the I-Box make-over.
I am a bit of a fan of Colossus, though I-Box Colossus would be amazing.
What about a dueling RMC I-Box coaster? It sounds plausible to me.
One other thing that I think would be somewhat neat (although very unlikely) would be if one track used I-Box track and the other used Topper track.
If this is true, Im very happy to see them give it the I-Box treatment.

Fixed it for you, everyone! Now I just have to go through the Cedar Point thread and fix every post that refers to Gatekeeper as a Wing Rider and not a Wing Coaster...

More to the point - if this would get Colossus racing again, I'm all for it. Although, I would rather see a Topper re-profiling because an I-Box one doesn't make it a wooden coaster anymore. Wooden coasters seem to always be the best racing/dueling coasters, with great examples like Lightning Racer, Dauling Dragon, Joris en de Draak, the list goes on.

I want to be happy and really be excited...but we all know, if there's one park in this country that could somehow screw this up...well...yeah.

They'll screw it up by marketing it as racing or dueling but only one side will ever be open at a time except for one month a year. And since it's SFMM there is not allowed to be any airtime, and there must be at least 7 inversions.

All joking aside, I do hope this rumor finally comes true.

Ooooo, theming light bulb just went off over my head!

With NWA providing the onboard audio? This is an idea I could get behind.

And near the split up the phrase: Choose your Faith? And flatscreens near to exits that says: Congrets. You Survived! or To Bad.Goodbye!

And to top of the theming let the operators where themed clothes and guns!

"Remove anything that could be an airtime hill and make it a barrel roll... Have the train stop... Go backwards... And go through the same barrel roll AGAIN!"

If they do Iron Horse track they're going to have to completely redo the layout right? Iron Horse looses speed a lot faster than a wooden coaster does (See NTAG). I'm sure they could raise the first drop a little bit, but even if they redid the ride as is with topper track I don't even think it would make it around or at least be exciting. I just hope they make a cool racing coaster out of it, if the park ever runs it that way...

I am all for this idea! I just hope they don't go over-board on the inversions (oh wait, it's Six Flags Magic Mountain!). Either way, it will be an amazing ride! A dueling RMC iron horse sounds so awesome! I do have a question, though. Colossus opened in 1978, which makes it much older than Rattler or Texas Giant. Is the support structure strong enough to operate the coaster for another 10-15 years? I'm sure they'll do something to stiff it up a bit, but we have to remember that Colossus is over a decade younger than the other RMC iron horse coasters.

^ Colossus also has to deal with the earthquake codes in CA so if anything the structure may be stronger than those two. The structure will need some work though, I can see this conversion taking way longer than the other ones, and not just because it's SFMM.

I think this is great news, Colossus is one of my favorite coasters in the park (not saying much) but it's in desperate need of something. I'd honestly be THRILLED if it just got the topper track and restored to it's ORIGINAL layout.

I would love for the I-Box treatment on Colossus! I've only rode it once, and thought it wasn't that great. It wasn't too rough, but it just wasn't that interesting for me. If they could refurbish this thing, then only good can come from it, especially if they restore the Double Down drop!

I wonder how SFMM will turn something that could be really great into something that is going to be WTF? and What where they thinking?

We know what their thinking. "Inversions , Inversions, take that hill out, add a loop"
