Riddler had the longest line in the park on Friday, so I think it is still popular. It usually has a decent size line whenever I go.

This can also be attributed to the longer load time required by stand-ups. I mean they take so long that CP elects to run 2 trains rather than 3 on Mantis because they can't get any higher throughput due to the slow load time.

It wasn't stacking and it usually never does. Tatsu was taking about twice as long to load and had a line less than half as long. It's just that some people don't get the concept that you stand up on a stand up roller coaster. It's personally not anywhere near my favorite ride at the park, but the GP always seems to like it.

How long does it take to get from Huntington Beach to Magic Mountain? I've been told I can't rely on google maps, because of LA traffic.

Some new wheels on the Riddler trains would be great, maybe a repaint and power wash of the track in the next couple years would do it some good.

But it's still really popular, I'd say it's somewhere in the middle of the road for the park in terms of popularity. Yes, it takes awhile to load, and there are pretty consistent GP moments in the station all the time, but it's doing fine. As much as it pains me to say this coming from a diehard Riddler's fan, I don't see why Six Flags would invest any money into it other than to keep it running.

Give it two hours to be safe because of traffic. Just take the 405 north all the way around until it meets back up with the 5 and continue north until MM.

And side note Google maps directions have gotten a lot better recently..below the duration now it says (XX minutes in current traffic) using current live traffic data, so if you check it on the day/time youll be going, you can get a pretty good idea. (But thats just in general..asking someone local is always best)

I just got back from Vegas, and went on the Desperado, Canyon Blaster, and Manhatten Express. They had ALL gotten a lot rougher, especially Manhatten Express. I nearly broke my neck on that one... Anyway, the Viper is pretty rough too, and i was wondering if there is a way to make these rides smoother, or any rollercoasters in that matter... Wasnt the Viper smooth when it opened in 1990? Why cant they make rollercoasters as smooth as they were when they opened? Is it possible to make a rollercoaster a lot smoother?

Also, how is Collosus so smooth? It is an old ride and it is really smooth for a wooden coaster! Compare to Roar or even Apacolypse... How is Collosus so smooth? O_O i cant beleive i just wrote this much! *facepalm* i ask too many questions...

For wooden coasters, they get retracked every year to every few years. Steel coasters can be improved by replacing a train or adding new wheels.

Seriously? Colossus must have gotten some TLC recently then because last time I rode it a few years ago it was anything but. That's very good news then, I look forward to riding it next time...of course I'm hoping to do so on the Psyclone trains.

^your right... I really shouldnt be talking. I havent ridden Collosus in a while so I do not know the condition of the coaster at the moment. I am just saying that it is smoother than some other wooden rollercoasters in my opnion...

That brings up another point. I used to defend Viper and say it's still a good ride. I'm poorly mistaken. It was the worst ride by far on my last visit ahaha.

And about Riddlers, everyone I know that has ridden it usually hesitates to ride it again since it f***s ur crotch. I'm just saying I wonder how hard it would be to add sit down trains...

Posted

Personally, I love the stand-up trains! They give the ride an extra element of fun. I can ride it more like a sit-down coaster if I want (by pushing the seat down really low and sitting). I can ride standing up (duh!). ...Or, sometimes, I like to kick my feet up behind the car for a really different feel.

There's nothing uncomfortable about it, as long as you position the seat correctly. Just hold it an inch or two lower than necessary until it locks (wait for the "click" not when the ride ops say "Seats locking", because their timing is usually off).

If Riddler's smashes your crotch, your either doing it wrong or have an abnormally long torso. Or a kid. You should be closer to touching the top of the restraint with your shoulders than your crotch to the "seat," at 15 I'd think you would be tall enough.

Yeah, I've never understood all the problems people have with stand-ups and straddling the seat. Not even the terrible, rough, abrupt Togo airtime on Shockwave has hurt me, and none of the three big B&Ms have been anything but comfortable.

Colossus did get some nice retracking done last year, the first half of the ride is actually quite smooth. The 2nd half, not so much. Hopefully the rest will get done soon.

And yes, there are a lot of wooden coasters on the east coast that are indeed better than Colossus, nobody really mentions the ones that aren't as good like Thunderhawk (Dorney), Rebel Yell (KD), Wildcat (Hershey), Rolling Thunder (SFGADv). While Hershey and SFGADv do have some good woodies (along with Knoebels of course) there are a few bad ones too.

I actually found all of the woodies at KD to be worse than Colossus. Ghoster Coaster was the best one there IMO.

Ths problem with Riddler's is not technically a ride issue. It's an issue with people playing with the damn seats. The operators say "seats will be locking in 3-2-1" then shortly there after you hear complaining from some tard who was jumping up and down in his seat.

Posted

I also noticed at some of the east coast parks they actually MAKE you stand up with your legs straight and don't let you crouch like they do with Riddlers to get that extra little cushion between you and the "seat".

You're crazy.

I don't understand. It doesn't hurt at all! I see how it could, but I would have to TRY to make it feel uncomfortable. If everyone stood naturally there would be no problems whatsoever. Just stand like you normally would and let the seat lock. When it locks, press down so the seat locks lower, not higher! And it will be nice. I just don't like RR because it is rather boring. It is not forceful at all and there is no airtime.

Or not a complainer/someone who can properly straddle a bicycle seat.

You just have to provide yourself the cushion while appearing as though you're fully standing. It's an art. And it's very necessary on Green Lantern, where you'll spend five minutes standing on the brakes if you don't give yourself the cushion that lets you rest your feet at the end!

And you're serious??

^Yes, and Scream and Batman too! Those B&Ms are just too smooth. I like the rougher coasters like X2 and Viper and the more forceful coasters like Goliath and Green Lantern. I would pick Viper any day over Riddler or Scream.
