KDCOASTERFAN Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Remember X's original station. Great in theory, awful in practice. They prolly were looking going well this seems dumb and came up with a better solution. Id rather have a pushed back opening day then open for 2 weeks then down for a month. I agree & let's not forget the poorly planned duel station designs used on the two flying dutchman's a decade ago not to mention SFOG's flyer that don't even operate the stations as designed a good majority of the time.
MrSum1_55 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 ^Tatsu does run both stations occationly on crowded days, yet they rarely ever run all three trains; it usually goes one train to each loading station. This makes the overall capacity slightly better than the usual two-train-one-station, but not by much. I wonder if part of the purpose of the off-season rehab was to get three trains running on Tatsu later in the summer.
XII Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Yesterday, they were doing a pull through for Green Lantern. Hopefully this means that they will start testing the ride very soon.
FrightFest1408 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hope to see it testing tomorrow or by the end of this week!
Tmcdllr Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is Intamin the only manufacturer that requires a pull through?
skaunit Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 oohhhhh, I hope they are testing on the 28th when I will be there.... or... i wonder when media day will be... hmm... I also hope/wonder if DC universe will be open by the 28th? With the ride opening three days later, one can only hope, batman is always a good ride.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is Intamin the only manufacturer that requires a pull through? B&M does it for some of their rides. One was done on Tatsu...
Jew Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is Intamin the only manufacturer that requires a pull through? All coasters will have some sort of pull through and/or extremely slow test cycle to check the reach envelope.
Tmcdllr Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is Intamin the only manufacturer that requires a pull through? B&M does it for some of their rides. One was done on Tatsu... Ok thanks.....I didn't remember that.

I would LOVE to see a Wacky Worm pull through that would be the most awesome thing ever! -Craig

Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I want to see a tilt-a-whirl pull through...
MontagnaMagica Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I want to see a churro stand pull-through...
doublestufforeo Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I'd rather see a dippin' dots pull through, but thats just me.
jray21 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Guy "I think a wacky worm does a pull through every time it cycles." Koepp It totally does! BTW, has anyone tried the new BBQ place yet? It wasn't open yet the morning I arrived.
harper83087 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi All, I'm a long time coaster nut and a this is my first post on TPR, I'm very excited to join your group! I'm planning my first trip to SFMM over the weekend of July 15-17, planning on spending only that Saturday in the park. I want to hit all 18 coasters somehow but I know crowds will probably be insanely large. If we have the extra funds we'll be getting a Gold Flash Pass but that has yet to be determined. Basically I'm looking for any tips and tricks for a first time visit. Thanks!
RoCo Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 "A wacky worm pull-through" sounds very... um... wrong. But back on topic, GL looks super-cool! Very excited for this to open. Great update pix!
Sir Clinksalot Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 ^^^ We tried the new BBQ place shortly after it opened. It was ... adequate. A little pricey. I had the chicken sandwich, a tad bit dry. My son had the pulled pork which was better. The Kettle Chips were the best part. I'm interested to try it again to see if they have improved any.

Sir Clinksalot Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Depending on where you are coming from, you are going to want to allow AT LEAST 1-2 extra hours to get to/from the park. That is the weekend of the great "Carmageddon 2011". http://pacificpalisades.patch.com/articles/carpocalypse-the-day-the-405-freeway-will-stand-still But X2 on the Flash Pass ... most people from Santa Clarita will be "staying home" due to Carmageddon and SFMM is a good alternative. I expect the park to be slammed that day.
daveydo5172 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 geez...I thought the Carmaggedon had passed already....damn, I will be there in LA that weekend as well...sigh

After hearing that we'll also be digging for change to get the Gold FP's .
daveydo5172 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 If you come in on the 10 from Phoenix, your screwed traffic wise no matter what...unless you try like 2;30 in the morning....with the 405 closed, traffic will be so much worse than normal...if you go north to the 40, then to the 15 and come in that way, you can always take my short cut,in Victorville, which is the 18 west to the 14 in Palmdale, then the 14 down to the 5...basically puts you 10 mins from the park....but, Like with me, I think your screwed either way this weekend
harper83087 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I'll look into that route. I already have time off of work so this weekend is not able to reschedule, maybe I'll have to fork out more for another day at the park if all else fails. Thanks for the tips guys! How about a good plan to tackle the park? In my readings I've noticed that a lot run to X2 and Tatsu first but with a girlfriend who has a bum knee there will be no running.
