  1. ^^You are right, it would be a huge loss for GG, however the loss would stop there for them. They can drop the whole train thing and go back to making nothing but GREAT coasters. Holiday Worlds losses will only be just beginning. They stand to lose a lot more than GG. Take me for example. When I go to Holiday World I not going there to ride Raven (the worlds most over rated coaster) or Legend. I am going for Voyage, the other two are just bonus rides. If the new trains turn Voyage into a Son Of Beast (in terms of ride quality) then I will have no reason to come back until a new coaster is built. From me alone it is at least a $150 loss based on my usual 2 visits per summer and spending habits at the park. Then you have my word of mouth about the new trains. Since Voyage hit the park a few years back my word of mouth advertising for the park has been 100% positive. I talk to my friends, family and strangers at other theme parks about Holiday World and how they really need to get out there and ride Voyage. That would all change. It would go from... Have you been to Holiday World?, its a great place with 3 coaster one of which is my favorite... You really need to get out there. To... Have you been to Holiday World?, they used to have the greatest coaster I had ever ridden... The park is a nice place though. Now that's just me and I am one person, multiply that by the thousands that visit the park. What are Holiday Worlds losses now compared to GG? Not trying to talk down the new trains, I really do hope they improve the ride. I want only good things to happen for both HW and GG.
  2. I would think that Holiday World is the one sticking their neck out. They are the one paying $540,000 for 2 trains on their #1 attraction. If they improve the ride its a big win for them but if it doesn't it becomes a massive loss. The general public doesn't care about or even know who made the new trains. All they just know is the coaster they were just on was either good or bad. Just curious, is $540,000 a good price for 2 coaster trains? It seems absolutely ridiculous to me.
  3. Those types of bars are what in my opinion should still be used on ALL wooden coasters. They give you the freedom you need to ride comfortably and just enough safety. The lap bars used these days are very painful on a air time filled wooden coaster. It's like you spine is being pulled out of your a$$ because the lap bar won't let your a$$ leave the seat. Lets not forget about where the great lap bars these days are attached to the trains. They are right where the side of your leg is so you are constantly banging into it during the ride. I can only imagine how much more fun a ride on Voyage would be if it used the old fashion lap bar instead of the spine separators it's trains were built with. Edit: just read the post about new trains for Voyage. Now if we can just get them replace all the box type wooden coaster trains! The trains used on Dollywood's Thunderhead would be great also. Plenty of freedom on those trains. In one of the first posts of this thread a picture of a TOGO stand up coaster was used as a reference as restraints that are not safe. Been on the old King Cobra at Kings Island probably 50 times before they took it out and not once did I ever feel like I wasn't safe. I really miss that ride. To this day it is the ONLY stand up coaster I have ever ridden that had air time besides it's clone Shockwave at Kings Dominion.
  4. Of course I have way to much free time, I am union. That one kinda hurt. I love that park. Thank you though netdvn and everyone else, it is nice to be able to play around with all these new (to me) building blocks. The water park is being received in a much more positive light than I ever thought it would. All of your support is GREAT motivation to keep pushing myself and try to make this park something special.
  5. As much as I would like to have it I have no place to put it, however it might do you some good to put up your location. Maybe someone near where you are might like to have it and that would really save money on shipping. Hope someone will take it off you hands be a shame to toss it in the garbage.
  6. Page 13 of the RCT2 help thread. All the 8cars you could ever want.
  7. I have to agree. Maybe it's just because I live so close to Kings Island my opinion of it is tilted but when I get down to Kings Dominion I always seem to have a better park experience. As for other things to do besides just going to the park, there are a lot of places to go and see in the Cincinnati/Dayton areas. Like the best Omnimax screen in the world at the Museum Center in Cincinnati. Dayton has one of the best Air Force museums on the planet and River Scape is really cool to see with its giant fountains. One of which is over 200 feet tall. There is a great aquarium in Newport just across the river in downtown Cincinnati. One of the top 10 zoos and an unbelievable botanical garden are also in Cincinnati. Dayton has the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery so depending on the age of the kids it is a great hands on kind of place. There are many good water parks around the area including the one at Kings island. Less than 1 mile from the park there is another big one called the Beach. If your looking for indoor water parks there are Great Wolf and Coco Keys.
  8. Since Robb Alvey makes games for his livelihood, rule #1 seems a bit odd. Don't know how I missed this sticky. Always wondered why some people had different custom titles and some didn't. This has to be one of the most entertaining topics I have ever read at TPR.
  9. ^^^ & ^^ thanks for the thoughts on the colors. I have no idea why I am always trying to blend things together. I really need to just shut my eyes and pick a color. ^ at this point putting in "rapids like" parts to the ride would require a total remake of the ride. I was having so many problems just getting the tubes to follow the course and not explode that I never even thought about putting in rapids. The entire tube ride that is visible in the game has NO straight sections so to put in the rapids from the River Rapids ride now would be very difficult and to be honest I think it would change the way everything is working, causing even more problems. It is something I will play around with for any future rides of this kind that I make. To get this one attraction working at it's currant level required 12 stations. 9 of which only have track leaving the station. That's how I can have so many tubes on the ride. 1 main course that is split into 3 and has the tracks of all 12 stations merged to it. 3 separate connector tracks leading back to the 3 stations that have entry and exits. These 3 stations are where all the rafts from the other 9 stations come to let off and pick up guests. Crazy isn't it. Wait till the park is done and you see the mess of stations and track that are all underground making this ride and the traffic for the parking lots/hotel work. After running the Lazy River for a while I am seriously thinking of adding even more stations so I can have even more tubes. It just doesn't seem crowded enough at times. ^^ the colors - baby blue, yellow, lime green and white are now the colors of the ride. THANK YOU for picking them out. Taking part of the name suggestion from ^ in the post ^^^^^^^^^ ago (lol, sorry I thought all the ^'s were funny) the name of the new Lazy River is "DRIFTERS COVE". Drifters Cove will have many theme parts. As the ride travels around the park going past different attractions it's theme will change. Everything will however still be set around a Pirate in some form or another. For the area that is being shown now the setting is this... Deep the center of the jungled island is a tribe of locals. Legend says they are the keepers of massive amounts of gold. Anyone caught trying to take their riches is killed and there head put in a pile to ward off anyone else from trying to steel it. Knowing this the pirates have sent in a group of slaves to get the gold. The slaves found what they were sent in to get on a small island. Unfortunately they also found the natives who have chased them up a pole and are now doing a little dance around a large tree while the chief looks outward at the rafts floating by. In the forest 2 large signal fires have been lit and standing next to a large skull in the dense brush near the water fall is a the pirate who sent these slaves in to do the dirty work for him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLQuFPQk0u8 In the video and in this picture you can see all the action that is mentioned above. Really didn't think a picture would give you any idea of what the working rides really looked like so I made a short video.
  10. I have no idea what kind of coaster that 3rd picture is supposed to be. Looks interesting but not very exciting.
  11. The pictures show up just like you put them in when you see them in the preview. The first is on the bottom and the last is on top. When you hit submit they switch order. So put the one you want first in first and the one you want last in last. Great story but what made you want to get ride of Tornado Dips? Looked like a great classic coaster.
  12. It's been a while since I have been able to get any progress done in the park. Not because I haven't been working on it but because of all the problems trying to make the Lazy River work. I have had 82 error trappers and made 104 rafts explode. The good news is last night I was able to get the ride working perfectly. What I've ended up with is 156 single rider tubes that float around a 13 minute course. In my opinion this is one really neat ride to watch. The rafts weaving in and out of each others path and spinning around all seemingly in totally random patterns. I have tested it with and without guests and it looks good. Need your thoughts about the color(s) of the tubes should I keep with the earth tones I have been using in the park or go with what most water parks use a yellow or light blue color? In the picture below I have them colored the 4 browns I have been using all over the park. If you like the earth tones, which one should I stick with. If you think a different color all together should be used tell me what your thinking about. This turn around area is about 1/4 the way around the rides length. You will see this spot again soon with it's senery done in full. The rest of the ride will be themed when the ride that it passes near is complete.
  13. ^ The park is definitely at the moment very flat and concrete-ish around the slides, hotel and in the parking lots. That will be changing once the Lazy River is complete. Looking back like I mentioned in my last post, I think the Lazy River should have been the first ride I put in the park. It of course should be flat with the only thing moving the rafts around being the motion of the water. When I started this park I was kind of thinking about the old Water Works park Kings Island had when I was young. It was a nice place but very flat and was nothing more than concrete and slides. I honestly don't go to out door water park any more. I cannot handle being out in the sun like I used to. I just get fried. So since I haven't been to any water parks that are themed to anything I am kind of just relying on memories of Water Works and looking at pictures on the internet for inspiration on the slides. In a few upcoming attractions including the Lazy River the rides will have more land/scenery interactions. As for adding other rides to the park, I have a few coasters in my ride list but at this time I have no plans to ad them to the park. If you look back to the first page of this topic you can see how small the map is I am working on. The hotel and parking areas take up over a third of the map. I am not sure if I will need coasters or flats to fill the map at this point. I wasn't even planning on using transport rides in the park (other than the monorail) but after testing i realised that in order to move quests around to the back of the park I needed something to drop them off there. So in went the chairlift and trams. The hotel does have 2 flat rides inside of it though. This park has for the most park double and triple wide paths and I hate using paths like that. Guests in this game get lost way to easy on wide paths but I wanted to park to look as realistic as possible. Now I have to fight the games AI to get the guests to move efficiently around the park. I don't want this park to end up like so many wide path parks with guests walking back and forth in the same spot trying to get to ride that's around the next corner and never getting there then getting mad and wanting to leave only to never find the exit destroying the parks rating. I have no doubt once this park is out more water parks will start showing up by other player who are much better at park making than myself. I am even thinking about putting it up at NE so maybe a few park makers over there might give a try. Not really a big fan of that site or all the over hacked parks that dominate it but there are some really good park makers there that could work wonders with a water park and honestly I have no idea why no one there or here hasn't made a working water park in the past. It is time consuming and frustrating at moments but really not that hard. I am already thinking about my next water park, an indoor water park like Great Wolf. I wish I would have thought about that when I started this park. I could have done that now. It would have been an indoor/outdoor water park. Unfortunately I am way to far along to be doing that kind of changes to the map. I would have start over again.
  14. You have been very busy. Really like the look of those rock on the log flumes drop. Give it that ohhhh s@#t kind of thing when you come over the top.
  15. That garden out in the middle of all that pavement looks out of place without some kind of fence around it. Then again even with a fence, unless there are more of them around not pictured it would be out place. Park looks good, better than anything I could do in RCT3.
  16. Thanks to you five for voting, LAZY RIVER is the winner. This is a ride I should have put in before anything else but didn't think about it till the other 2 were done. It's going to be I think the hardest item to get in the park and the hardest to get working properly. We shall see if it can be done. Hopefully we will have guests floating around on tubes in a week or so. Traders Post is the parks hub building. It sits right at the crossroads. From here you can head out and enjoy the park or head back to the hotel. The building is themed with pirate ghosts who think they are still on a ship. We have the captain holding the wheel and some of his fellow pirates getting their drunk on. The season pass entry point for the East parking lots. Both building have exactly the same foot print on the land but look so very different. Out front of this building you can find the mayor. He's being dunked in a water well over and over again while a few on lookers enjoy the show. There's even a little music being played by one of the pirates sitting near by. This park has two season pass entry points. This is the one coming off the west parking lots viewed from outside the park. The building is themed to the mayors house with a slave auction going on outside. The mayors wife keeps popping her head out the windows looking for here husband to come home.
  17. I totally forgot about that picture on the previous page! Could of had a pass for FREE!
  18. ^ thanks for the feedback about the windows. Trying to be non-repetitive is a difficult thing for me to do. Have no idea why but I really tend to get stuck and just repeat things like windows, colors and just about everything else. Hope the 3 new building that are coming are an improvement. Now for some fun with your opinions... IT'S GAME TIME... A SIMPLE 3 OUT OF 5 I have two water rides I am think of doing next. One is calm and relaxing and the other is fast and exciting. 5 of you will get to pick the one that gets built next while I finish up some work on the above mentioned buildings. CHOICE NUMBER 1 - LAZY RIVER (will travel all over the park ) CHOICE NUMBER 2 - WATER COASTER (will NOT travel all over the park ) Pictures of each are below in case you don't know what I'm talking about.
  19. Arrow, Hyper? Probably not, but a man can dream of the good old days when coasters were fast and exciting with just enough bumping around to make the ride feel out of control. Screw it! I'll just buy my pass. Got change for a hundred? ^^ what is the name of that park you posted a picture of TLM? I would like to take a look at it.
  20. Sweet a suspended coaster, never seem to be very many of those used in parks these days it's aways B&M this and B&M that.
  21. It's to bad guests can't buy snacks and drinks while in line for a coaster. That building would make a great maintenance shed/snack bar. Something seems wrong with the roof on the station building in the picture. Like a piece of land is on the roof or something. I can't figure it out.
  22. ^ yep that must be why it showed up. I forgot that water slides were in the coaster section. One more building to go before the water rides start back up. edit - think I finally figured out how to make my pictures not seem like they were taken from a 747 at 30000 feet. I have filled in the area shown in the last picture of the previous update. Three new buildings have arrived. Two are food shops (with hidden stairs inside). The large building is not only the transportation hub for the water park housing two trams and a chairlift it also has bathrooms and food. The upper floors of this rather large building house Pirate Bay's corporate offices. At this end of the park's office you can see the entrance to the trams and an ATM. The path in the same area as the one mentioned above is the exit path for the chairlift. These paths both created nice little shaded areas for the guests to relax in and enjoy a break with cool breezes provided by large fans overhead. From this view of the parks office you can see the entrance to the bathrooms (under the skull) and the two entry/exit points for the trams and where the chair lift leaves the building. The path that appears to be floating in are is actually the line for the chairlift and is supported by wooden posts. Just to the left of the overhead path is the entry to the chairlift. The path goes all the way trough the building passing a food and drink stall. It is also where employees of the park come to clock in and out. The sub building is a rustic structure with two glass roof seating areas complete with ceiling fans to keep the area cool. The pizza building has open patios with for those who like to dine outside and LARGE glass windows for those who like the feeling that they are outside but would rather not be.
  23. Pirate Bays second set of slides are now open. I have named them Tavern Twists. I really suck at this name thing so if anyone can think of something better post it and I'll change and I will change the name. Anyway, there are 3 totally independent working slides. All 3 weaving in and out of each other on their way down to the splash ending. On these slides you start with a waterfall in your face and then end with one. All 3 slides are very different when it comes to how exciting the ride is. One has a long steep drop during it's course, another has several long mild drops and the slowest of the 3 has just a series of small drops. All 3 are just as disorientating though with twists and tunnels everywhere. Hope you like what you see, if not help me out and give me some suggestions on what needs attention. Just a little shot of the area I am starting to work on. Chairlift and Trams are coming to Pirate Bay. I have really been slacking on building the "WHOLE" park while working on the slides. Going to have to get some other things done. More slides and other water rides are coming but some serious building of other items in the park will be next. SORRY. Got this award list today while testing the park. "BEST ROLLER COASTERS" showed up.
  24. That's a new one. When it leaves the space for the drive designation are you able to type in a response to fill the blank? If so I suggest you remove RCT2 from your computer and install it again. This time pay attention to what drive it installs onto. When it asks, put in the proper response. If that doesn't work I have no idea what to do next.
  25. Amazing use of in game scenery! Looks like another great player has come to TPR.
