  1. I of course meant no disrespect to Six Flags or my fellow coaster fans. I just felt the ride could stand up to current standards on its own without any help. Yes, the ride takes up a LOT of square feet compared to more modern coasters but if space was an issue I really don't think with modern design technology a new ride (coaster or not) could be fit into the space available adding thrill to both the classic coaster and the new ride at the same time as has been done in many of circumstances over and over again at Six Flag parks and many non-SF parks. Take that classic ride and toss in a new coaster or flat ride mixed into the original rides track footprint and add a new thrill to the old ride along with an enhanced thrill to the new ride. I love SFMM, only been able to visit twice since 2009 but honestly compared to my local Ohio parks it was (both times) a magical, thrilling and super fun experience. So looking forward to visiting again soon. Nothing against KI, KK, DW, KW or CP but year after year it they ALL get old fast. I am sure those who live in the LA area feel the same way about Disney, Knotts and SFMM. I and and anyone like me who lives so close to so many theme parks who is so spoiled compared to those (lets say those in the Denver area) who have next to nothing yet here I am bitching about a theme park 1000's of miles away and that I have only visited twice. I REALLY should shut up now and stop being a whining coaster fan. Sorry for being such an idiot. This is why I don't comment much in the TPR forums. I really should just be quiet and go away.
  2. I'm sorry but there was NOTHING wrong with this ride to begin with. It was what is was. A fantastic RETRO ride. Fast, smooth (enough) and simply FUN to ride over and over again. New paint was enough. The VTR is NOT needed and I do not want anything to do with it.
  3. I posted the comment below on Robbs video for Lightening Run and decided to go ahead and post it here. While at the park I was discussing if I should (and wondered if I really wanted to) describe my day at KK and at the time decided not to do so but after spending a few hours on YouTube enjpying TPR vidoes and having the video of Lightening Run show up as something I should watch I decided to speak up about how bad my day was at Kentucky Kingdom. It was years before Six Flags closed the park after I had a bad day there, it has be 2 years (I think) since the park reopened without Six Flags and it still was a bad experience. It will be MANY years before I bother to try again! "Was at KK yesterday (07/16/15) and while this coaster was super FUN to ride the park itself was a non-FUN experience. Single trains on all the coasters, waits as longs an hour for rides that should have been less than 15 minutes if being used to their full capacity or simply if the people running the rides actually cared about the guest experience and made the effort to try and speed things up. I hated this park when it was Six Flags and honestly don't have anything nice to say about it now! Horrible is the best way to describe it." edit... I could have used my ClubTPR discount when buying tickets online it would have saved me and extra $20.00 for the 2 of us but decided not to, figured the already discounted online price was good enough and just bought the tickets. My mistake! After spending the day at the park the $20.00 I could have saved still would not have made up for the how ridiculous the park operations were.
  4. Super happy to see the Demon coaster in your park. I know... Arrows suck. But I love'em in this game and in real life. Very nice layout you have designed for the coaster. It is hard to make a good looking Arrow in this game and you did it very well. You captured all the quirkiness of a real Arrow. Unnecessary straight flat sections, unnatural flow from one element to the next and just generally bad pre computer aided design weirdness. Love it!
  5. ^ I agree about the trees. Too much of a good thing. Then again I kind of like the mystery of what is really down there that they project when viewed in certain pictures. Makes me want to go walking through the woods and see what I can find. Its the kind of park I would spend hours in just looking at the map without removing scenery, ride a few rides then either remove the trees so I can finally see everything or just leave the mystery alone and close the game. Just happy to have enjoyed what I did see. LOL, did that make any sense at all?
  6. These days I don't think I have any guilty pleasure rides but many years ago I did. Probably the only person in the world who actually liked Son Of Beast (loop version) and honestly have missed it ever since the loop was removed. It was my guilty pleasure ride, the ride I would sneak off and ride a few times when I visited Kings Island since I already knew nobody I was there with would ride it with me. After the loop was removed and the coaster trains changed I still road it every once in a while but I pretty much gave up on sneaking off to ride it. But thanks to Robb I still get to ride it on YouTube. Thank you Robb.
  7. Well... it is your fault this game has been fired up again after all these years and your fault that my work productivity is down 80%. Thanks! So do I, Nice work there, long time no see my old friend. Been messing around in the first scenario of RCT2. Nothing special and have no desire to do so. Just playing and having a bit of fun... NCS, no wide paths that confuse the guests (once the park is open), no hacking other than clearance issues. Simply my favorite way to play the game. I am trying to keep the look of the original Crazy Castle park when you first open it and just make improvements. The entrance castle is almost as it was. A minor move of one tower 1 square over making it centered, the walls that once held path around the outside of the park now hold a monorail, the empty tower to the right when you enter the park has been slightly redesigned and also now has a function. Just little things here and there to fix the flaws I felt were in the scenarios basic structures. The altered entrance to Crazy Castle, centered with a monorail station and viewing tower added. A moat has also been installed all the way around the castle walls with a boat ride layout. Not sure what kind of vehicles will be used yet. Freefall rides now inside the odd little castle structure to the right of the entrance in the original scenario. Food stalls and some super crazy path work are also inside. The structure located in the back of the original park now has a monorail station inside and the stations for the parks first coaster(s). Much work still needs to be done to repair the original building and finish the coaster. Also in the photo are the on-ride photos for the coasters in the next picture. They are located at the end of the launch just before the first hill. The first set of inversions on the coaster under construction. This will be a floorless, launched and dueling coaster.
  8. Carl's Jr. & Hardees Rallies, Checkers White Castle, Krystal All of these are the same company just sold under different names in different regions of the U.S. What other chains are using the same kinds of tactics selling their food?
  9. True! The person below me has at least thought about going gay at least once.
  10. OK, let me start with a simple WOW. This topic should be pinned as an example of how to showcase RCT. Outstanding in every way possible. Pictures, videos, downloads. Fantastic. This has got to be one of the most professional looking topics EVER! Your designs are awesome, your themes for them are perfect and the way you have presented them here is on a level I have never had the privilege to view before in these forums. Thank you so much for your time and effort. - Daniel
  11. Could not disagree more about uninstalling the expansion packs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using them, there are lots of great themed rides in those packs. The scenery is pretty bad but most of the ride styles are not. From what pictures I could see you are for the most part building your scenery with mostly non-expansion RCT2 objects with only a few expansion pack items for added effect and that is a good thing in terms of learning how to build. I guess what I am trying to say is... If you are building to please others then by all means remove the expansion packs but if you are building simply to enjoy the game (as I hope you are) screw those who can't view your park or are too lazy to simply swap out their ObjData files. I used to keep 3 versions of that file on my computer. One with factory RCT2, one with RCT2 + WW & TT and one with RCT2 + custom content. It only took a few minutes to change from one to another. There was nothing I couldn't view. Sorry coasterbill if my comment comes off harshly directed to you personally that is not my intent. Best wishes on the completion of your first park. You are off to a good start and if you continue I am sure your building techniques will improve. It is alway fun to watch a new player build a first park and see how their style grows over time.
  12. Great park, really enjoyed coming into TPR today and looking at this topic from page one. Honestly I skipped most of the commentary (sorry). But I did read enough to know you are working without trainers, it's a timeline park and so on. I found it odd that once the mid 1980's hit a few on-ride photos didn't start appearing on select rides and as the years went by were not added to more rides. They are huge money makers for parks and I am sure a park like yours could use a few to help with the money flow. Great job so far, I will be checking back to see how this ends. Best wishes and thanks for putting a smile on my face today. - Daniel
  13. On the "both" side of things but with a HEAVY lean towards the Park Index. I often miss reports in the forums but have spent hours digging around in the Park Index and loved every minute of it. It is the one place where I know I can find what I am wanting to see, find it quickly and not have to dig through post after post from other members about how much they love or hate Millennium Force while looking for parts 2 or 3 of the Trip Report.
  14. Yes on the spell check issue. Apparently I cannot spell the word "word" right.
  15. Of course my comment is an opinion and what is rough to one is smooth to someone else. I did not make it down to Kings Island last year but the last time I rode Diamond Back (the year before) it was still a magic carpet ride. I personally equate jack hammering to any downward force vibration that happens on any kind of coaster at the base of hills or inversions. There is crazy insane over the top jack hammering and then there is the much more gentile kind. In the case of Banshee it is the latter of the two. Not uncomfortable in any way but most certainly there and not something usually felt on a brand new B&M coaster of any type. Makes me wonder if it will only get worse over time or get better once the track and wheels get worn in. I will enjoy riding this coaster regardless of any issues, just like I do Vortex, FOF, The Bat, and so on. They are ALL fun and great rides.
  16. Great rides today at Kings Island on Banshee. It is forceful exactly where it should be before the Zero-G roll and insanely forceful after it. The slow motion roll before the helix into the brakes is FANTASTIC! It is very rare you see a coaster that uses most of its momentum before you slam into the brake run at the station but on this coaster you don't come flying into the brakes. Most of the force is already gone at that point. Hat's off to B&M for such great use landscape to squeeze out almost every last drop of inertia. I keep reading in the comments about how smooth everyone thought Banshee was. I don't understand what they are talking about. This ride jackhammers at the base of every hill and inversion as bad as Alpengeist does and it just opened today. I rode this coaster on inside seats, outside seats and in every row except the front and no matter where I sat it rattled and shook as if it was 10 years old! I loved riding Banshee repeatedly today but it most certainly is not smooth, and this comment about smooth is coming from a guy who likes traditional wooden coaster and being beat to death on them. I loved every bump and rattle Banshee delivered and would gladly be back on riding right now if I could be. What in the world is rough about an Arrow suspended coaster. The Bat. Top Gun, Flight Deck or whatever you want to call it has always been smooth and still is. What improvements could make it better, a Jello filled seat, perhaps strawberry flavor? The only thing that ride needs is a longer track and it has needed that since the day it was built.
  17. ^ & ^^, not really much you can do with a Scrambler or Viewing Tower but what you both did do whit these rides is nice on the eyes.
  18. at all this. Fantastic, it simply made my day to read the last few posts.
  19. Thanks for the response, going from the amount of people I could see in the photos and how you described what you saw I would say this park like many other large projects in the China are on the same government mandated bill. Built simply to spend money and keep the people busy. Please don't take the way I described those empty cities the wrong way. Those empty cities were not just tossed together. They are beautiful, fully modern, 6 lane avenues, traffic control systems, water supplies, power and all the other things needed for a city to work. The buildings are gorgeous high rise apartments and office buildings inside and out, not just empty shells. They, like this park I don't believe are meant to be disposable. With its location near Hong Kong, a very "different" kind of Chinese city with a much more Western culture it may continue to grow once the transportation infrastructure is finished and not have the same fate as these other projects. I was watching a documentary on yet another one of these empty cities up in the northern part of China. Even though very few people live and work there (about 2% of its capacity) it has a population of "tourists" that spikes every afternoon. Can you imagine taking a bus trip to visit a newly built empty city for the afternoon? Anyway, sorry to bring your topic into this. I was just wondering. The park was beautiful to look at through your camera and I hope that even if it was built just to "be built" they lovingly maintain it as well as they do the" worlds largest [empty] shopping mall". If so, those who do visit will get to enjoy it.
  20. It most certainly is a beautiful park and hotel. I have to wonder though is there really enough public demand for such places in China or are these parks just another way for the government to funnel money into the economy to keep it from self correcting. The point I am getting at here is the Chinese are becoming quite famous for building things, like entire cities that will hold hundreds of thousands of people who don't exist. Giant ghost towns with skyscrapers all over the place and no one living or working there. Simply built to keep the economy going. Another example is the worlds largest shopping mall, lovingly maintained by a staff of grounds and maintenance people, the problem is... it's empty, not a single store is open inside the mall! How busy was Ocean Kingdom when you visited? Did it seem like there was enough money being spent to keep the place open on the income generated by those visiting? Sorry for the questions, just wondering.
  21. For the most part RCT3 is a superior game but there are still a lot of us who don't have a computer that is strong enough to play the game on good quality settings. Sure I can build a small park on my computer in RCT3 with only a few issues but why would I want to when I can build a huge park in RCT or RCT2 without all the graphic issues and lag time that I would have to deal with in RCT3. I found it odd that they are naming this Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 but when you watch the video they simply call it Roller Coaster Tycoon Mobile. I wonder if they will be dropping the "4" once the game is released?
  22. T-Shirt order complete, thanks Robb. edit: New shirt and bonus free pin and magnet arrived today. Love it, THANKS AGAIN!
  23. Here's one of them, I am sure I have the others. Many DATS are stored away in ZIP files and of course I can't search inside those. I will get everything sorted out when I get the chance. Sorry to disappoint. DEPRES02.DAT
  24. It is quite possible that the DUKES005 used in that game has been modified from its original form. This is a problem when people alter anything in the file and then re-save it. Even the simplest thing like a single letter in the description will screw everyone who tries to use it. Being an NE park all of its content should have exported, unless of course it is a older park. Sometimes there is just nothing that can be done to get all the "right" files. Sorry. I have entire ZIP file filled with hundreds of parks downloaded from all over the world that I cannot open. So many custom files used and so few people smart enough to include these "special" items in a folder with their parks or remember to put a simple check-mark in export files box. You would think if a person thought highly enough about their park to share it they would have made sure everyone could open it. If you do manage to find the DUKES005 that opens that park remember this... the file will overwrite the real DUKES005 and in doing so will make every park that has the correct DUKE stall in no longer function unless you go in and remove the corrupted file and replace it with a correct version. So ask yourself is opening this park really worth it?
