Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
dmaxsba2408 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As you can see from my avatar, I would totally agree with your dream. I would hope before they go tearing SOB down they wait to see what happens with the Texas Giant. This coaster could be saved if what's going on in Texas works. Just wondering about costs. Would it be cheaper to tear it down and build a new attraction or do the Texas Giant treatment to it? As for The Beast I had some great rides on it last season and some really bad ones. Some days it was smooth and fast and on a few rides I might even call it VERY fast. It rode like the days before the new type of trims were installed. Didn't even notice they were there. However on other days it really was horrible, ruff and slow and lots of jerky air brakes. I really do miss the old trims though, even when it was over trimmed on some rides it never seemed so controlled as it does now. I can remember one night when I was a 18ish, was in line for The Beast. The station smelled like beer and smoke and full of people all yelling and having a great time. YES back then you could afford to get drunk at a theme park and could still smoke in line. What horrible concepts, surprised I don't have lung cancer from all the smoke. (< that was sarcasm and I was around 18 so, no I had not been partaking in the beer) The ride that night was absolutely the best ride I ever had on The Beast. Not once did I notice any trim brakes at all. It was as if the rides trims were turned off, that coaster was flying through the woods hitting turns harder and faster than I could ever remember it hitting before. It was coaster heaven. Now that I think about it, ever since Paramount took over the place and stopped selling beer and now CF having it and beer costing over 7 dollars. I don't think I have ever had the same experience in line for The Beast I had when I was young. There has always been something missing and that something would be all the feel good drunks smoking while hanging out in line at night for The Beast all talking to everyone and cheering when a train came back from it's journey. It is so quiet in there all the time now and what was a pleasant (my opinion) beer/cigarette odor now replaced with the smell of sweat. -
Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread

Click on the disc icon when in the game as if your going to save or quit and in the list is "screenshot". Just click on it and it will take a picture of whatever it is you're looking at in game. Once you take the shot it will be saved as image in your main RCT2 folder. Once you have it you need to edit it to show what you are wanting to share using a picture editor. Change the image to a JEPG and save it again. Then post it. Do not exceed TPRs rules on size, no larger than 800x600. -
[RCT2] Samurai Summit
dmaxsba2408 replied to nin's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
That's what I get for viewing the park with my sound turned down. I clicked on the Carousel and noticed the sound was turned off and never thought anymore about the silence. Just figured that was just the way it was, silent. Removed senery and didn't see any other rides and never bothered to look underground. -

Unfortunately I can't help you with that one, however it is listed at the RCT2 Object List site, if no one here shows up with it in a few days you might want to post a request for it there. http://www.rct2objectlist.com/index.php?/index Are any of your old parks still available here in the 50+ pages of TPR's game threads? If so it might just be a few clicks away. If you do find it I would love to have it also. -
[RCT2] Samurai Summit
dmaxsba2408 replied to nin's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Enjoy I did! This little park has so much to see, not in rides of course but in the details! The only thing it's missing is a little ride (like the simulator) tucked away to bring in the Asian music. Right after I opened the park a light rain started and it seemed to fit perfectly with the park. Whenever I picture a place like this I think of the frequent mountain rains found in Japan. The details... well let me just name a few that really stood out to me. The use of barrels as planters holding bushes that when put together and in this setting reminded me of Bonsai trees. The use of cauldrons around the carousels, to me looking like large bells. The standard wire fence put up to look like the wires that would be strung between buildings, where they would hang those cool lights during events and the use of an object that I would never think to use in such a setting, RCT's Egyptian path lamp. Inside the building viewing it from across the park it just fit in perfectly. Anyway those were just a few of the ones that really stuck in my head. Thanks for posting this nin, it was great! -

Thanks, I am so glad you liked it. In all honesty you need to be congratulated on making such a unique rapids ride in the first place all I did was help you make the track disappear. The course that ride takes is just amazing. Very well planned and executed. Well Done! So happy you sank those bumpers. Looks so much better that way. Interesting twist on the floor-less station. Like the idea and it looks like your pulling it off pretty good, look forward to seeing it when it's finished. Keep up the quality and this park should be a winner. -
THRILL POINT LA [RCT2]
dmaxsba2408 replied to BelgianGuy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Just like I stated over at NE, I thought the park was great. I had a feeling when I saw the map picture you released a few pages back that I would like that mine coaster and I was right. It is my favorite ride in the park. Congratulations again, very well done! -
With post count of 5, I would say welcome to TPR but you've been a member for a quite awhile. Going to say this though, WELCOME BACK to TPR! The park looks great from the pictures, can't wait to get back home an see it in person. EDIT: Think you could change the title to include [RCT2] in it somewhere, might get more attention that way.

That is GREAT news BelgianGuy! CONGRATULATIONS! Will download when I get home and check the place out. -
You can only fill in that spot with foliage if it's "EXTREME FOLIGE". Just kidding. Honestly without seeing the whole picture (I mean a full park shot) and knowing what's inside the buildings that surround this empty spot it's really hard to say what might be a good choice to fill in that space. A large show complex may be a good choice, a small area filled with a few rides aimed at the kids could be the way to go, or maybe a super-hyper-giga-strata coaster that only takes up a 12x12 footprint. I vote for the last option I gave.

Once again BelgianGuy thanks for putting this up, we will get this figured out one way or another. These issues people like myself and others are having doing what should be a simple hack is why I knew you were the man for this topic. I just tried it myself and like the others it didn't work for me either. I checked and made sure I was running everything in XP. I am. I checked and am using 8cars 132. Built the exact coaster you did as you can see in the picture. Followed the instructions word for word. Still failed to get the train up the loop. I am wondering could this be an conflict between 8cars and the expansion packs? I still have WW/TT installed on my computer and I just can't get it to work. This question goes out to EVERYONE who is trying this hack. If you can get it to work or not. What version(s) of RCT2 are you running at the moment? RCT2, WW, TT, Triple Thrill Pack? There has got to be a simple answer as to why some can get this on others never can. Please, when you get the time a "How To" about that subject would be great! If we get enough of these we might end up with a sticky about hacks so anyone at anytime can do a couple of quick link clicks and find just what they are looking for.

That building that angles out onto the water is my favorite one in this shot. It has that I want to sit there and listen to the water while I relax feel to it. Awesome work. -

Here is your ride MKG-OCTP.DAT Octopus Ride -
Signed up myself and my buddy Alex this afternoon. He is very excited, he's never been to CA before. When we get back from the BAB we will be sticking around for a few days going to SFMM and NBF. We're driving out to CA from Dayton Oh, and are planning on hitting a few more parks on the way back. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the bus. This should be the best coaster trip we have ever taken. Thank you for this great opportunity Robb and Elissa.

^ Without even basic (full tile) custom roof tiles what your asking is next to impossible. The best way I can think of adding variety to roof with in game items is to always try to use different structure heights to break up the roof line. Like taking the shortest wall available and adding it to the top in key places to alter how tall the building is. I will go make a structure and load a picture of it up using only in game roofs to show you what I mean. ^^ I don't think I have ever heard of 'Eclipsce Digital Trainer', is it still available on a site somewhere? If not, load it up here so we all can try it out. -

dmaxsba2408 replied to BRTeller's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
That first picture is beautiful, I don't know how you (and others) come up with such nice looking buildings. I have all the same items yet I never seem to be able to build structures like that. They are perfect. As for the spy-ware attack, Microsoft Security saved my computer, so if anyone on here works for MS. THANK YOU for everything you people do!, and making it all free to the public. Your the best! BRTeller, I don't know how things went down, TPR removing the link or you doing it or a combo of the two of you working together but either way YOU, TPR or BOTH were on top of things. I am sure since your old park was mentioned it was only a matter of time before others searched it out and had the same problem. Thank you for taking care of it. -
