Virginia vs. New England
jamesdillaman replied to CreditCrazy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Sorry, Chuck. I'll be good. Anyways, even if he's been to Kennywood, the new coaster and addition of Waldameer would make it worthwhile, IMHO. -James Dillaman -

Virginia vs. New England

As Ginzo said, honestly: add Kennywood and Waldameer on instead of New England or Virginia. Nobody can argue that the atmosphere at Kennywood is great, as well as the rides, plus they have a new coaster. Ravine Flyer II is awesome, and the park is cheap (you can pay per ride if you want). Plus they have a fun classic walkthru and a decent spinning coaster. Pennsylvania parks FTW. -James Dillaman -
Virginia vs. New England

^ The main reason is people are voting who haven't been to all the parks... I love how you can make a judgement call without ever being on a ride. These are the same people that say "I don't like the new coaster that isn't even built yet, it's gonna suck...." Truth is, more people have been to BGE and KD than SFNE and LC, at least on this forum. Look at some of the people who voted for the virginia parks: BGEguy, PKDcoaster, kingsdominionlover. And on the New England side: supermanrosfan0810, sros1fun.... Seriously, look at what the parks have to offer and make your own decision, asking a bunch of coaster nerds for advice on what park to choose is like asking a bunch of parents who's kids are the best. Everyone's so biased. -James Dillaman -
Virginia vs. New England
jamesdillaman replied to CreditCrazy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been to KD (In case you didn't know, Paramount sold it to Cedar Fair a few years ago, so it isn't PKD anymore...), and I agree with the user above you that Dominator only looks good. It is rough and really not as good as many other floorless coasters. The bottom line is this: If you want two of the best coasters in the nation, go to New England. If you want a credit horde, go to Virginia. If you like flats in addition to coasters, go to New England. If you want atmosphere at the park, go to Virginia (BGE). It all depends on what you want from your trip. I personally wouldn't miss out on Bizarro, especially now that BBW is gone from BGE. If BBW was still there, I think the decision would be harder. I'll wait until BGE gets a new coaster to replace BBW. -James Dillaman -

^ Um... just because you like Volcano better does not make S:ROS overrated. That's just your opinion. You shouldn't state opinions as facts. Just my opinion on good manners -James Dillaman -

^ KD has decent ribs to eat... There, that's one good thing about KD... In all seriousness, I do enjoy Volcano a lot, as well as Dominator (although Superman: Krypton Coaster beats it handedly in the floorless department), Flight of Fear, Avalanche, and (this may be only me ) Anaconda and Shockwave. Heck, even Grizzly can give some decent rides. The point is this: one ride on SROS was better than my entire day at KD, with the exception of the Flyers (as I am a big fan), but that's just me again. Go with New England and you won't be disappointed. Who knows, Intimidator 305 may even have extended amounts of downtime in its first season (wouldn't be out of the question for an Intamin hyper now would it?) -James Dillaman -

Seriously, you will probably have a better time at BGE than at either SFNE or LC, but you can't argue with the double shot of Bizarro and Boulder Dash. Add in driving times and everything (New England is a lot smaller than the more southern states) and I think you should definitely hit up New England. As stated above, hit up Quassy if you want, too. The only reason to do KD and BGE over the parks is if you just want the most credits, because as good as I305 looks, I don't believe it'll be Bizarro good. -James Dillaman -

^ Considering that we were one of the first professional teams, I'd say the Bengals had it first. Finally we have a season where we can say it. It's been pretty quiet around here since the 90's... -James Dillaman -
'09 KD's Club Blood (Halloween Haunt)
jamesdillaman replied to pkd freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I don't know about themeparks, but there are halloween houses that have been around for longer, but they are only seasonal atttractions. There are a couple around Cincinnati that have been doing it for almost 50 years, although they're not on the scale of a Haunt at Knotts... -James Dillaman -

^ Winterfest > Fearfest That is all.... -James Dillaman -
I will say that even if you're outside in the "fresh air" so to speak, if you are forced to be right next to someone smoking in line, the air isn't fresh at all. It doesn't really bother me except for the rancid smell, but my fiancee is allergic and it really ruins any hope of her having a good time. I'll straight up tell people not to do it, and you wouldn't believe the looks and the words I've gotten for just asking nicely that someone follow the park's posted rules. At least most of them blow the smoke straight up as much as possible when I tell them she's allergic... Outside or not, if you have to smoke, take 5 minutes before you jump into a line... -James Dillaman

^^ Glad to see we're in agreement. The only downside was when we were there in the summertime, the mosquitos were really bad on the hillbilly golf course. But come on, INCLINE!!! You just can't beat that. -James Dillaman -

Davy Crockett's was really fun, but I think I still prefer the mountainside Hillbilly Golf, even though it lacks all the talking animals... -James Dillaman -
