^ Tatsu was amazing at 4 in the morning with huge spotlights on it during the Tatsu media day campout. It was like riding a coaster in a sci-fi movie! -James Dillaman -

Coasters at Night
jamesdillaman replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say Raven at HW, for the main reason that it truly is a different ride at night than during the day. Also, I enjoy Thunderhead at DW during the night-time, although with all the new rides in the area, it wouldn't seem to be as dark as in the past. Beast at KI has already been mentioned. Boring, braked ride during the day, halfway-decent screaming fun through the woods at night. I've always enjoyed MF at CP on a brisk, clear night as well. Nothing like seeing the lights over the bay and the whole park lit up as you go up the cable lift. These are just the ones that immediately came to mind... -James Dillaman -

I voted "yes" This is by far the best/most informative site out there as far as I'm concerned, and I want to keep it ad-free. I'd love it if the membership would get you into events such as Holiwood nights. As far as the clique issue is concerned: There really hasn't been a clique among the people who have been on TPR trips (I have not) that I have seen. I don't feel left out of any forum discussion or shunned because I haven't had the money for a trip yet. I trust you and Elissa will do whatever it takes to prevent elitism. -James Dillaman

Favorite Crowd-Interactive Coasters

You know, as I think about it, MF has that decent last hill and overbank around the queue line that always makes me want to get on it right away while waiting in line. Too bad after the first drop it does pretty much nothing, but it's still great watching people on it while you're waiting. -James Dillaman -

I've always enjoyed riding through the MoA on the Pepsi Ripsaw whatever it's called... -
Most Overrated coaster?
jamesdillaman replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I concur that Raven is dissapointing... ...until you ride it after dark! I can't think of another ride I've been on that is (pun intended) such a night and day difference depending on when you ride it. I went to the park and ran right to Raven when the park opened and thought "that was it? THAT is what all the hype is about?" Ride it later, especially in the dark and you'll see what makes it a great little coaster. For the record, I think B&M Inverts are overrated as a coaster type. Just not quite as smooth as they should be IMHO. -James Dillaman -

^You mean Tom Hanks? lol Can't wait until Sunday! Just two more days! Julia isn't feeling well so I sent her home to sleep all day today and tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be feeling better by Dollywood day. Thanks again for all your updates and everything, Erik! -James Dillaman -
Erik & Misty's Smoky Mountain Adventures

Erik, As far as I know, everyone on the trip has all the credits, so it isn't a big deal if the coasters aren't running. We're all interested in the holiday event itself. I hear it's pretty good. Great updates. On the last one, though, I always thought "eleven pipers piping" meant like bagpipes or something like that. It looks like the display are trumpeters or buglers or something. Maybe I'm wrong? -James Dillaman
