  1. Channel 5 just ran a blurb about SoB being unsafe and what KI didn't tell people.... I'll post a link to the story once I find it, but it just goes to show that SoB is bad PR for the park, and the sooner they rid themselves of it, the better. EDIT: Here's the news story: http://www.local12.com/news/local/story/Engineer-Owners-Knew-Son-Of-Beast-Was-Flawed/-JOrBfT0zkys3hw4FVfovg.cspx -James Dillaman
  2. "Do You Want One More Ride on Nitro?" Fixed. -James Dillaman
  3. ^ I think if they do remove SoB, it'll pave the way for the eventual removal of mean streak. Just saying.... -James Dillaman
  4. ^ He talks all pretty and smart like. He mustve been learned real goodly in schools. -James "It's sad when non-native speakers have better english than most americans" Dillaman
  5. I know for a fact the ride is technically braindead. The plug should be pulled. Let's not get all Terry Schivo on this issue. I talked with The Beast and she agrees: Her son's better off in rollercoaster heaven than trying to live on without his loop and his dignity. -James "pull the plug" Dillaman
  6. The Old Mill is a breakfast stop for me everytime I go to Pigeon Forge. Seriously, they load you up for not a lot of money, which is rare in the Smokey Mountain tourist areas! -James Dillaman
  7. ^ Like Chuck said, bring it, but not in the park. At lunchtime, go out to your car (making sure to get your handstamp) and break out the cooler with the food. When you're done, reenter the park and continue your day. We do this all the time. At some parks where you can reenter the parking lot again free, we'll even go out to eat at a nearby restaurant, then come back. -James Dillaman
  8. ^ I understand that, but these were three american soldiers. Little is known, One of them was named a Muslim name, but nothing has been said of the other two suspects. I guess I just never think of an American citizen as being called that. I thought all of them in the movie were extremists from other countries. It's been a while since I've seen it, though. I could be wrong.
  9. ^ I think that may be a little out of line... or maybe you didn't read the entire story, either way, I don't understand.. Anyway, My thoughts are with the families and everyone in the community. I just heard on the BBC that apparently the shooter (who was a fellow soldier) is shot numerous times but still alive in the hospital. That's what BBC America just reported anyway. Up until now I had heard he was killed. -James Dillaman
  10. These are absolutely great! I must try the ice cream bread this week. There will be pictures! Keep them coming!
  11. I'l start it out with one of my favorite things to do with Ramen Noodles: PEACH TREATS: Cream: 1 cup Peaches: 1 small can (drain and reserve juice) Peach Juice: 1/2 cup Brown Sugar: 1/4 cup Ramen Noodles: 1 package, any flavor, crushed Frosted Flakes: 1/2 cup crushed Preheat oven to 350 In a small casserole dish, mix the cream, peach juice, peaches, and brown sugar together. Add the crushed noodles, being sure the mixture completely covers the noodles. Bake for 5 minutes. Spread the crushed frosted flakes over the top of the mixture and bake for 5 more minutes. It's delicious! -James Dillaman
  12. So I notice a lot of threads on here about food, whether it's theme park food or Robb's wings. I thought (with Robb's blessing) that it would be cool to start a thread where you can share some of your favorite recipes. Bonus points if they are in some way theme park related. Pictures are encouraged, and if you have tried a recipe from the thread, please post your thoughts/pictures/criticism. Hopefully we'll all eat a little better (or at least more) because of this thread!
  13. man, next year, if I'm still around Cincinnati, I'd like to go with you to some of these. I've never actually been scared at a haunt maze. -James Dillaman
  14. ^Could be a possibility, Guy! Although I'd have to have somewhere to stay, because with my wedding coming up soon, got to watch the expense accounts... But if Zach provides that, I'd do the driving...
  15. ^ Doesn't premier contract out the actual assembly to contractors, like other ride design companies do? If that's the case than maybe it isn't their fault for the delays... I could be wrong, but it's just a thought. -James Dillaman
  16. Great photos, Zach! It's been a real treat watching your photography develop since you've joined TPR. Keep up the good work, and call me sometime. I never know when it's a good time to call you, what with you being in classes and everything. Anyway, glad you had a good time in the Smokies, not so glad you didn't invite me. You jerk. -James Dillaman
  17. ^It actually wasn't as bad after they took out the loop, but the jackhammering was still there and readily apparent. My biggest complaint was by far the fact that the layout is boring and uninspired. Seriously, two painful helixes? fuuuuuuun... -James Dillaman
  18. I'm just shocked noone has mentioned the part of the video where the narrator says "Houston, we have an erection." -James Dillaman
  19. ^ Now it's rough AND boring, since they took out the only real element. -James Dillaman
  20. Waldameer, Niagra Falls, Darien Lake, and SFNE are all just off your route from Cedar Point to Boston, as I have driven it myself. Of these, if you only did two I'd recommend Niagra Falls (to see it, since you're from Belgium) and SFNE, for Bizarro if nothing else. SFNE is about 90 minutes out of the way, but it's worth it, as said above. As for Waldameer, STOP here and ride just Ravine Flyer II if you want. It goes by tickets, so you won't spend a lot of time or money. It's quite a good woodie! From Cedar Point to Boston is quite a haul. Also, while you're in Pittsburgh, Kennywood is more than doable in a half-day unless you go on a weekend. Some great coasters and some older rides you'll find few other places in the world... Prepare to spend a lot of money in tolls if you want to take the Penn. turnpike/New York Thruway / MassPike. (about $20 one way from Ohio to Boston) -James Dillaman
  21. ^ I don't believe SBNO qualifies as still underconstruction. The other one has had work done as recently as 2004 and is listed by RCDB as "under construction" not "SBNO since 1983" Anyway, I hope knobels can get all the kinks ironed out. If it does open, I'll try to get there within the first couple weeks, because I have a feeling it will be closed for refurbishment fairly quickly and fairly often, if they keep it operating at all. -James Dillaman
  22. ^ I'd say, seeing as chewing gum on a ride is against their policy!!! -James Dillaman
  23. ^ Cedar Fair has a "no reride" policy as well, but SFNE's Bizarro has something Cedar Point's MF doesn't: airtime. End of story. -James Dillaman
  24. I'd have to say I was expecting a whole lot from this ride when I rode it last summer, but it delivered. WAY better pacing than most steel coasters I've been on, and it is firmly in the number one spot out of the 200+ coasters I've personally been on. Bottom line on things like this, you can't base a ride on what others say. You have to experience it for yourself. SFNE is a solid park that is well worth the trip IMHO. Go ride Bizarro and see for yourself. -James Dillaman
  25. ^ Look at the other names on the death list. It's all a big joke. I give KI kudos for having the guts to do something like this. I haven't been to the Halloween event at KI in years, but I'll definitely go this year, just to see all this for myself. What have we learned from my statement, children? I'll tell you: Their marketing ploy has worked wonderfully. Once again, Kudos, Kings Island!! -James Dillaman
