  1. I guarantee you the shirts were ordered before the trims were fully installed, they thought it would only be trimmed to 85. Parks aren't intentionally misleading the public. It was claimed that the Beast still went over 65 mph for years after it had been trimmed down to no more than 52-54 (We had speed displayed in the control room)
  2. ...just imagining lawyers from Kentucky... "If it pleases the court, I'd like to use a metaforce. See, six flags is like the man who buys up your tobackey farm with the promise that he'll take care of it and make it profitable while paying youse to have the privelige, but then they plow it under and have relations with yer daughter without permission before she's of legal age in the great commonwealth (14). t'aint right, yer honors."
  3. ^ That actually is a way to catch people. Presumably, if someone had line jumped, they wouldn't have their ticket. You don't have to check everybody because they count on people to call out linejumpers. They can then verify that they don't have the correct number and kick them out of line. It's a way to catch them with more evidence than just the word of other patrons. Many parks will randomly use this strategy if reports of line jumping for certain rides get out of hand...
  4. ^ The loop was actually fine. The execution of the construction was the fail. Here the construction was fine, but apparently the design was too intense. I'd classify it as more of an engineering oversight than a failure, though. If it blew over in a small breeze, THAT would be an engineering failure...
  5. Like having an alarm sign in your yard when you don't actually have an alarm... It's a deterrent, or at least they hope it is.
  6. Bravo to the security for using less-than-lethal methods to control a potentially dangerous situation. If kids wouldn't act like vandals, they wouldn't get maced. Oh, and I can't resist: "In the FACE!!"
  7. I'm at the park today. Minimal crowds. Nice weather. Like the newly revamped beast queue! Diamondbacks still running great!
  8. Do or die next: Every Vekoma?
  9. ^ I'd say they're pretty much tied by looking at the numbers. Let's not forget that Flight Deck is also built in a scenic location and it used to have pretty decent theming when it was top gun...
  10. All our coasters here suck. Wish I lived in Europe...
  11. ^ Now don't go name calling. I think the kid is funny. At least he's passionate about KD. He used to go there when he was young. I mean, he's getting older now, almost to the point where girls no longer have cooties, but when he was young he remembers the good old days at Kings Dominion...
  12. ^hahahahaha! "It doesn't matter, the intesnsity is what's making it rough and the intensity must be lowered." "Kings Dominion is the park I've been going to since I was *Young*"
  13. Amazing photos! Seriously these are great. You are very talented. Gotta get Zach to see these... he'll appreciate them even more than me. (waits for jizzy to respond...)
  14. ^ If Kennywood can change Steel Phantom into Phantom's Revenge, then yeah that would definitely be POSSIBLE. It is highly implausible, however, as the costs would be very high, and the ridership isn't even that great to begin with. If Cedar Fair was spending money to redesign the layout of a coaster, I'd like to see them add on and reprofile the Beast with the help of GCI. Think about it: adding elements to the ride besides a helix and tunnels, not to mention recapturing the longest coaster record... It'll still never happen, but a man can dream...
  15. ^ The PR department can call it whatever it wants...
  16. Whatever it is, count on it being a people-eater. CF knows the crowds they get at CP and they want as many as possible to move through the lines as quickly as possible.
  17. Warren County only sets off the sirens for a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service, or a confirmed sighting of a funnel cloud. However, Hamilton county sets off the sirens when there is a Severe Storm Warning during a tornado watch, or if there is a tornado warning. Kings Island is at the border of Warren County, Butler County, and Hamilton County. I don't know Butler's procedures, but it's always a good idea to seek shelter and weather information if you hear warning sirens, no matter what county you happen to be in.
  18. Just because a siren goes off doesn't necessarily mean there's a tornado warning. If there is a severe thunder storm warning during a tornado watch, the sirens will go off, even if no tornado has been spotted. Just FYI.
  19. fanboy... Nice photos, Zach. I'll let you know when the wedding stuff calms down and I'm back from my honeymoon. We need to hit up a park.
  20. Just FYI, it looks like 741 is back open north of the park, the bridge is repaired and all traffic is moving again!
  21. It worked for Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill, Dead or Alive, Tomb Raider, Pokemon (for kids), Resident Evil, and who can forget the awesome Super Mario Bros. movie!!!! Okay so the last one was a bit of a stretch, but it's so bad it's almost good. The others are at least as good as any Michael Bay or M. Night Shamalamadingdong crap that's come out recently...
  22. Smacking a child is one thing, but punching in the back of the head, no matter where you're from or how you're brought up that should raise some eyebrows...
  23. Cedar Fair ride names suck. I like how they painted a checkerboard on some concrete, made a few cornhole sets, trucked in some sand and called it a new attraction. It is nice to see them add something even if they are putting minimal investment into the park. I'm still hopeful the waterpark (the old seaworld side) will survive.
  24. ^ We gotta hang out sometime up at KI... Spend a day dishing out sarcasm... In all honesty, the only rides I cannot do are the spinning teacups of death and scramblers. Any other ride, even a tilt-a-whirl, is fun for me.
