  1. RIP! I only visited there once, back in June 2001 during my senior class trip. I was pretty cool just to visit some place that isn't as crowded as the big parks with some history to it. It always sucks to see things like this go. Funny story tho, some of my classmates and I rode the "Scary Dark Ride" for like 75 cents each. It was funny. One of them was even like "that was better than some of the stuff at Disney. Hardly, but it was funny.
  2. I always wondered why they couldn't have come up with a better way of sheilding the screams on Maliboomer...not only are they akward, they are gross as it gets later in the day from everyone's hot breath and spit.
  3. Good info! I went to Fright Fest back in 2002, but we didn't really take in much of the special stuff. It was a Saturday so the lines for the mazes were crazy, so we just took in the rides. Goliath in the Dark, Viper in the Dark, X in the Dark, and Colossus Backwards in the Dark were all great tho!
  4. To expand upon whats already been said... Because S:TE has two tracks, the main control panel is in the middle rear of the station. There's also a small dispatch enable panel on each loading side. Riders exit toward the center of the station and go down a stairway to get out. You walk under the tracks and up a ramp on the right side of the station. They used to have the on-ride photo sales along this pathway as well. The tracks extend behind the station through a plastic curtain. There used to be a problem with over shoots, but I believe hearing that a few years ago they installed a friction brake in the station to prevent that.
  5. im so late... HAPPY BDAY!
  6. HAHA!
  7. The first time I rode it back in 1998 it wasn't that bad. They limited the amount of people they let into the actual building which meant for a line that went down the hill. Anyways, they used to have it really cold and dark in the long straightaway. For some reason I remember mist or fog or something. The last time I rode it was in 2001. Not much of a wait then and yes it was hot and stuffy in there. Theres like no air circulation in that building. In fact they had propped open the "chicken/emergency exit" in the last queue room. My major complaint, in addition to the sad state of the building, is the queue. Because each door as those metal railings if you are trying to group yourselves its hard work when its crowded. Lots of climbing under railings! Its never that crowded anyway I say leave the doors without the railings.
  8. I have this thing for this character. Not like sexual or nothing, but its like she's my favorite part of the T2: 3D. Who else is a fan of the show and/or the character?
  9. 1. im addicted to the show NEXT on Mtv 2. i wish there really was a show named "goddess" on the Las Vegas Strip starring Elizabeth Berkley as nomi malone 3. i dont mind going to theme parks alone 4. my favorite theme park character is Kimberly Duncan from "T2:3D"... 5. i wish i could move back to florida permanently
  10. Ooh degrassi! new season starts end of this month! Favs are Marco and Paige. They both have been through serious s**t over the run of the show. I didnt used to like Spinner/Gavin, but in the last season, the character has grown into something more than just a screw off. We actually see he's got more depth and I like that. I hate that Terri got into the coma, but then its like you never hear about her anymore. I mean, even if she's off the show, they should mention something. Afterall, the shooting did concern her in a round about way... OK...I just proved my dorkiness over this damn show.
  11. That was not nice I miss those two rides
  12. I wonder if Adventuredome had a contract with Chance/Morgan because their last three large rides were all made by them...Inverter, Slingshot, and Chaos...and note all three were/are very tempermental to operate, at least at the dome. Inverter isn't only a pain to ride its also a pain to operate. Not because its difficult, but because people can never seem to understand "do not pull down on the restraints" nor do they understand "keep your head back as restraints will be coming up quickly"
  13. This is so laughable, but I'm not surprised they went and changed the name. What really surprises me is that they actually spent the money to buy new trains in the first place. But then again, this is the same city that got rid of its only waterpark. I guess as long as its making money eh?
  14. In speaking of coming out... I guess im out...I dunno really. lol. I mean i dont really walk around and say "hey im gay". Most of my friends know. I haven't really needed to go through any drama yet, because most people claim they already knew so everyone is cool with it. The family is the hard part. I assume they suspect it, but they have never said anything, but if they ever asked i would definately not lie. i act the same around everyone so i dont consider it "hiding". I have been having a lot of dreams about family members asking me about it though.
  15. For a while, a few years ago, they did give you two back to back rides, but not anymore. Now its $10 for a single ride or $20 for an all day pass. They have fans in under the launch area (indoors) next to the LIMs so I doubt that cooling is an issue. I think the pauses in launches are a cost saving measure. The ride usually never has that long of a line and they say it will launch every 15 minutes if it doesn't have a full load. By launching less frequently, they are using less electricity and putting less wear on the equiptment. Speaking of delays and waits... Manhattan Express can run upwards of 4 trains but they usually run only 2 (3 on the weekends) causing a line. Canyon Blaster is pretty good at running efficiently. When I was an op there back in high school and again for a few months during college, the park supervisors and coordinators (leads) were very adamant about getting trains out. Because the ride is so short, even during moderately busy times, one train is adequate. I remember one time being at controls with a good 5 train wait and the supervisor calling me and saying we needed to speed up our dispatches (the park op office is right next to the station and break run). It makes sense I guess...why add another train if you are just gonna stack it. Needless to say, stacking was not tolerated and generally it was more hassle for the person at controls to deal with stacked trains than not due to the short length of the ride.
  16. Manhattan Express' new trains are now in operation. Saw them when i was on my way home from work yesterday. I haven't seen them really up close, but on Screamscape they say they were built by Premier. Canyon Blaster holds up relatively well because it is indoors. The ride turns 13 years old this month, so its not a young ride and we all know that most Arrows built during that time haven't aged that gracefully. Speed: The Ride is ok. The only thing that bugs me is the long delay between launches.
  17. Actually the Mirage is in the middle of a total renovation. They have redone a lot of things on the interior to give it a more contemporary style. Plus it has LOVE the new Cirque show based on the Beatles! I'm still holding out for when they update the volcano. Its supposed to have even more fireballs and special effects.
  18. I'm not sure how popular they are nowadays, but the funnel cakes at Suzette's at SFMM's entrance used to be wildly popular at the end of the day. I remember all those school trips everyone would get in line to get them.
  19. Not only do they all smell the same, the people who wear it have to put on so much if they want it to last. Hence the "omg what the hell was that" effect when someone wearing it walks by. My recommendation, spend a few bucks and buy some quality cologne.
  20. -Where do/did you go to college? graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) May 2006 -What are/did you studying/study? Started as an ArchiTORTURE major in 2001. Did a WDW College Program Jan - Aug 2003. Did one last year of torture, hated the changes they made to the program while i was gone and switched majors for fall 2004. Ended up graduating this year with a BA in Journalism/Media Studies concentrating in Public Relations. Now im working as a marketing coordinator for Harrah's Entertainment. Hope to start an MBA in the next two years...when I can afford it. -What made you go there? I originally planned to attend Arizona State (ASU), but the financial aid package sucked compared to what I'd gotten for UNLV.
  21. I hate you. I would have loved to see that performance. I heard the Coachella one was awesome as well. So jealous! I love Daft Punk! But I have to say I'm even more in love with the incomparable BASEMENT JAXX.
  22. I haven't been to this park, but I have been to TJ a few times. This park is quite a bit of a distance from the border so if you are planning on going you'll need to drive. As for the danger of travelling around the city. Yes it is a high crime area, but at the same time it is very tourist oriented so you don't have to be as scared as some people make it seem.
  23. I tried one once. I don't think it was cooked properly...meaning it was microwaved. But I can see how if it was pan fried with butter and onions and then served with sour cream it would be good. They are an east coast thing right? I have yet to see them in the store here on the West Coast and the only time I had one was when I was in Florida (my roommates were mostly from the northeast).
  24. Mikes Subs? is it called Jersey Mike's Subs, cause if it is then we have a few around here but I have never been there.
  25. ^ I agree to that. While his "outing" wasn't a suprise, the fact that he is with Reichen was...how does that happen?
