I was just browsing CC's website to see if I could possibly hear tale on any new rides, and I found this boldy displayed at the top of this page CLICK HERE, "Two new family rides coming in 2007!". This sounds quite nice, I don't know what they mean by "family rides", but it's bound to be good coming from the Hershends. CC badly needs some new rides as one can "do" then entire park very quickly, and riding the Ozark Wildcat over and over can eventually get kinda old, however good it is. These two new rides could be quite small or pretty large, as the term "family" can mean a lot, so I'm excited. Even if they are mere children's rides, they will be a welcome addition to CC.

Awesome, I've heard and seen little of this park, thanks for the PTR. How has this park been doing the past few years, and what good rides does it have?
-
Apparently the Alvey's have yet to visit Bell's amusement park in Tulsa, which is too bad, they would have enjoyed it. It was cheap, clean, and the woodie was pretty good. Ah well, I think they had enough good woodies and larger parks to keep them busy. Robb, if Bell's ever re-surfaces, you should really attempt a visit if by some chance you find yourself in north-east Oklahoma. Just a suggestion.

^They did add a Frisbee style ride just last year or so didn't they? And wasn't it a permanent model? I think this and many of the recent past additions to the park make a definite point that the park is doing well, at least to the point that it can add new rides every year that have some quality. I've visited LWV a few times when I live in the UK, and I always enjoyed it, regardless of it's size or overall quality. It was never crowded, it was clean, and all the rides were working every time I visited, and the rides weren't too bad. I think the park deserves a lot more credit than it is usually given.

Flamingo Land Discussion Thread
Shavethewhales replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with RollerMonkey, the waltzer's were some of the best I have ever been on, especially when you cram 5+ people in one pod. tch... Ah, FL has such odd taste in themed areas, "Splash Land" sigh.... It's almost as bad as the area themed to a sea-coast, which could be found just a short drive away. So the woodie idea might be thrown out because they didn't like the one the rode? That's just a tad ridiculous. Why couldn't they have ridden the Ozark Wildcat? -
Bell's may be in trouble.
Shavethewhales replied to Shavethewhales's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once again, I'm hitting myself for double-posting, but I have a load of updates on the subject, and I didn't think this deserved a new topic. Here's the most recent proposed site for Bell's - http://www.tulsaworld.com/NewsStory.asp?ID=061213_Co_zm1_STARC66 I don't know much about it, but land is land, and it's close to Tulsa. What's great to hear is that Robby said the decision on what will happen to Bell's will come within a month. Cough... nice photo of Robby, looks like he really has been under a load of stress. Edit - here's an even better article on Robb's visit to S.T.A.R. - CLICK HERE In this article, Robby sounds much more happy about the location, and noted that his amusement park as it is won't even fill the location, but if he did move there, he would "be very interested in the developement of the entire property." Sounds good. -
1 acre.... Imagine what the Bell's woodie would/will be like... Wow, it looks so great when you look at it from more than one angle, I have a hard time figuring out exactly where the track goes. This looks like it could fill 3 or more acres, seeing it compacted into 1 will blow my mind. This is a winner.

Your Coaster Pal
Shavethewhales replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Coaster Pals" ? Mmmpth, that's almost as sad as seeing a bunch of grown men on a kiddy coaster. Ahem, however, I do happen to have a little wind-up scuba guy that I take along... -
New coaster for Kyongju World
Shavethewhales replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I laughed heartily at that. Yeah, pretty shameless how they stole all that concept art, I wonder if it'll turn out to be a vekoma. Hmmmm.... An inverted train traveling upside-down and backwards down a massive vertical drop... someone should try it. -
In can't believe they would build them that tall... can many people even hit them that high?
-
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... not again... How did they do it this season? Can they pull the same trick twice? I know Conneaut isn't a "great" park, but it is a good ole' timey, traditional, independant park, and I really think we will truely lose a gem if it slips away. I just can't imagine the scar that has been this year going any deeper, I'm pretty sad about it all as it is.

Yes, very strange that Ozark Wildcat made #15. It's not bad at all, in fact it's one of my favorites, but it doesn't look as good as many others below it... eh, I haven't ridden enough of them to know. Too bad ThunderBird at Powerpark didn't get a higher spot, it looked fantastic. Anyone here ridden it? It looks like it should be in the top 15 itself.

Merg, I think even losing one wooden coaster of any size is a terrible loss, but that's me, I love the classics and I want some of these small, inde parks to live on rather than the big resort parks taking over everything. Also, premeir (sp?) also makes wooden coasters... and I'm not sure, but it seemed like several others did as well, I don't have time to look it up just now.

Hmmm, I'm surprised that you would say that, Robb. I have to disagree with you, I don't think that just because they are going through hard times they should quit. If all parks took that principle, there'd hardly be any left. However, something really needs to be done to improve their situation, and adding an awsome darkride is part of it. I'm no expert at turning around amusement parks, but I really think that if they go on the offensive with some good deals and put some extra effort into making the place shine, they'll have a chance.

J's Amusements Park
Shavethewhales replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Heh, Awsome, I too love abandoned parks. Call me crazy, but I feel slightly dismayed at seeing even a crappy coaster rot away. Who's cars were those? What has been happening with the park lately? I'd probably be nicking a few things if I were around there. -

Wow, DW looks way more decked out than SDC nowadays, crazy. Do they have a big emphasis (sp?) on nativity scenes like SDC? How many lights do they have? -

Fantastic stuff, THE Thunderhead looks great in your shots. How good of a ride is it? All I've heard about it is that it's full of cross-overs. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
Shavethewhales replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Wow, an entire post full of exclamations, nice. Anyway, I'd rather they have spread the hill out more to allow for more speed, but whatever. I'm still trying to understand the theme of this ride, is it just a generic thrill ride, or does "Wicked" imply something? -

It looks really nice, but I'm curious as to why the launch is so slow. 41 mph seems a little slow for a 110 ft spike. I mean, PowederKeg has a 53 mph launch and only goes up about 50-60 feet. This thing'll crawl to get over the spike. Looks nice though, wonder what Zierer will bring in the future.
