  1. ^Yeah, the areas they have updated are sweet, but many areas are just soooooooo old. Like the picture of my home town, I can tell it dates back 8 years at least. Oh man, the photo of SDC is from the pre-Wildfire days, wow, the park looks so small.
  2. Oh man, go to Dollywood, there's no contest between it and WA, especially not at this time of the year. Dollywood's rides and attractions are fantastic, to say the least, and don't get me started about all the other wonderful things they offer.
  3. Oh man, those are the best pics I've seen in a long time, especially that first one. wow, that's all I can say. Great Job.
  4. ah finally, something got saved this year. At least this treasure will live on.
  5. ^Ah man, it would totally suck if they did. I mean, this is KumbaK's first ever coaster right? It looks totally sweet, and I would love to see what they can come up with next. I don't want to see another coaster company go down, especially not before they can even get started.
  6. Oh wow, this reminds me of the people who live out in front of Bell's and kept them from getting their new woodie for so long. Except for the fact that this is one person... Crazy, just crazy, people can be so... dumb.
  7. Great TR, always nice to see SDC. Yeah, you gotta love those Widlfire ops. Once, they let me ride back-to-back like 5 times by myself before closing one night. I didn't know they added water shots to PK's launch, sounds good though, for the hot summer days anyway. Man, I've been going to SDC for the past 12 years of my life and I had no idea Molly's Mill Restraunt opened that early... welp, that's something to do next time.
  8. ^Eh, well the Little Fire Ball was built in 1947, so it is a bit older. Hmmm, so at least I have North America's oldest still-in-operation steel coaster in my downtown, I'll look good at parties now.
  9. ^hmmm, yeah well I dunno, I guess it all comes down to how picky you are about what a conventional steel coaster is. Montaña Suiza could be considered more like a railroad type thing than a coaster, actually, it could be the world's only stone coaster! I mean, look, a wooden coaster is defined as a rollercoaster that has steel rails supported by wood, but Montaña Suiza has steel running rails supported by stone and earth and concrete, or are there other parts of it that have regular supports? Or maybe I'm just stupid, I dunno, just my thoughts.
  10. Yeah, but if you want to just say it flatly it is the oldest steel coaster in the world. Huh, I really should tell the people that own the place, I mean, they should have a sign up about that or something.
  11. So I was reading ACE's latest issue of RollerCoaster! magazine and I was surprised to see The Lil' Fireball at Kiddypark in my hometown of Bartlesville Oklahoma mentioned. The article said that the Lil' Fireball was built in 1947, which I had always heard but never believed. After searching RCDB, I can't find any steel coaster as old or older than this, so is this the world's oldest operation steel coaster? I'll get some pics up soon.
  12. I was gonna say FC as well. Really, this'll be the 14th season without a new coaster, sad. Hopefully the new management will shape up, I'm expecting something next year.
  13. ^meh, I wouldn't say that completely... I mean, if you look at this you can see that there is a great story behind it and the barn themeing makes it fit in pretty well, I think it'll assimilate pretty good, just like Wildfire did. However, it is true that SDC is treading the line for going too "theme parkish", so they will just have to be extra careful. As long as they don't go on a spree of building stuff like this, and they keep everything themed nice, it'll be alright. It's hard though, cause the GP (and therefore the money) is screaming for stuff like this, themed or no.
  14. Eh, at my home park, Bell's in Tulsa OK, everyone seems to enjoy Zingo the most, probably because it's the only coaster there. (for now anyway)
  15. ^^Meh, I don't see why people are complaining about these rides sprouting up, they are sweet rides, in fact, they are probably my favorite. Really, what does it matter that a bunch of parks have these? I mean, a bunch of parks have ferris wheels and carousels, but that doesnt make them lame... Plus this one will be a bit different with it's launch system and extensive themeing. Also, who else thinks the name will change? I still don't see SDC releasing a ride with a name like that...
  16. It's pretty sweet, although it is kinda queer. There aren't any other rides really like it, but it's really nice. It's got the same restraints as the screamin' swing, which allow for loads of air time. And about the GS, I'm still pondering as to how they will fit that into SDC. Midwestinfoguide.com has some pics of land clearing, but the location just doesn't make since... I'd always thought they would complete the path from Wildfire to Powderkeg with the next big ride, but it does help to spread the rides out a little.
  17. Here's some stats - Height- 7.5 stories Capacity 700 passengers per hour Maximum Speed 45 miles per hour Acceleration Launch Swing System Provides Immediate Launch! hmmm, that sounds odd, "immediate launch", wonder what that means? Anyway, the storyline sounds good though, gotta love them for really adding detail into the ride like that. See, these things can be themed
  18. ^Meh? I've ridden SkyHawk at CP, and I personally love them, what don't you like about them?
  19. Here it is, just as I thought - http://www.bransonsilverdollarcity.com/rides-attractions/ride_detail.aspx?AttractionID=862 "New in '07! Silver Dollar City sends your family soaring on an All-NEW adventure – The GIANT Swing! Launch through the barn doors at an immediate 45mph and burst over 7 stories into the sky as you fly a full 230 degrees from one side of the barn to the other. Seated back-to-back on two giant pendulum arms, the sky is the limit! This is not the old-fashioned knotted rope barn swing of your youth. Natural innovators, the Wilson family has enhanced their favorite pastime into a fantastic flying machine that has literally blown the doors off the barn! If you’re brave enough to open your eyes, you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the NEW Great Barn and beyond! Swing by and see why everyone has a little farmer in them … the need for survival, the surge of acceleration and the rush of back-to-back Gs. Farm life has never been so thrilling!" Sweeeeeetness, I love these things, it just seems, well, un-SDCish... I mean, "Giant Swing"? Meh, oh well, the barn themeing looks great.
  20. Sweet, I'd love to make a stop there, but I thought it was only open for private parties? Anyway, nice TR.
  21. Aw, I can't believe they still haven't gotten to the Starliner yet... anyway, sweet pics. Looks like they tried, but some parks are just to small to be able to pull off much of a frightfest.
  22. Oh man, awsome photos. I never knew Twister was so big, I always thought it was smaller than Pheonix... Yet another "I've really gotta get there someday" park for me.
  23. oh man, and to think, I was really tempted to ride that too... good thing the high prices scared me away.
  24. heh, yeah, but I just wasn't in the mood, and I don't need to increase my coaster count that much. that and the price for ride tickets was phonomenal (sp?), single tickets cost $1 with a group of 20 tickets costing $15, and the rides took at least 4-6 tickets apiece. So yeah, I didn't do alot of riding...
  25. Great stuff. Canobie lake is officially on my "I'll get there someday" list of parks to visit.
