  1. Wow, I like how they make note of where the new rollercoaster will be - smack dab in the middle of the park. They seem to be intense on making that 'the' ride of the park. I've heard that they will have already selected a design firm by the time the park opens, so maybe we'll hear some about it soon.
  2. Hmmm, there are a few other good rides, like the condor and the Fiesta Mexicana, and of course, the scooters. It looks like they are even getting something that looks remarkably similar to a steeplechase... credit anyone? Yeah, I think I'm going to have to hit up this park after all.
  3. Yeah, there doesn't seem to be all that much to draw me to this park. I mean, the frisbee and the diablo look fun, and the log flume and spinning coaster should be alright, but other than that, the place doesn't look like all that much. It just doesn't have that overall quality or atmosphere that you would hope from a park that size, what with all its lower-case rides and steel buildings with facades. I would go though, if I were closer, I just don't think it's worth a 2-3 hour drive. Would it be if I went to Joyland as well? Btw, anyone have any new pics of the place?
  4. Wow, I remember this park from a short visit several years ago, before they had the mini-golf course. I thought the place was loads of fun, especially the Looping Star. It's a crazy place though, what with the playground scenery in the log flume and the garden themed waveswinger called 'Shockwave', but it's still fun.
  5. I would suggest Silver Dollar City. It has 3 great coasters for you, loads of kids rides and attractions for your sister, and a massive array of shops and shows for your parents. Heck, you could even bring along your grandparents, there's plenty of stuff for everyone.
  6. The bible also says interracial marriages should not be allowed. Should there be a law against that too? Not to mention wearing clothes made out of more than two types of fabrics, shaving, cutting your hair or keeping it long, or even planting two types of crop on a single plot of land. Honestly, no Christian I have ever seen follows the Bible, why should everyone else have to? Ramen.
  7. Typical twelve year-old enthusiasm. Why will it suck, because it's not a perfectly-smooth B&M? Because it won't have disney theming? Because it didn't cost 20 million dollars? Maybe it won't be the greatest ride on earth, and it could, possibly, end up being a bad ride, but we don't know yet. All I know is that it sure looks like a load of fun to me.
  8. That's the craziest thing I've heard in awhile. How big did you expect it to be? It looks huge to me, and it holds 32 people at one time. The swings look great, 120 degrees out over a hill side is as good as it gets. Besides, an S&S drop tower would be considerably smaller, not to mention much less thrilling.
  9. It's finally open! Not officially, but SDC wouldn't let early season parkers miss out on the fun. I'm truly amazed, and have been so for the last 4 months with this ride and its area. It turns out that not only did this ride alone leap beyond its high expectations, but even more than I though was added to its surroundings. There seems to be several new booths and small shops, and more interestingly - a cow milking attraction! Check it out on SDC's new blog -
  10. Dude, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not too sorry that it's leaving, but I would jump at the chance to visit WG and ride the Cyclone - for the pure, comic fun of it all. I mean, all these new, modern, super-smooth coasters are nice, but when you really want a fun thrill, rides like the WG Cyclone top all.
  11. If I were you, I would start up a site, put all your info on it, and viral market the hell out of it. Plus, keep sending *professional* letters to as many people as possible. Just make sure you don't spam.
  12. As long as it's not another Zamperla crazy mouse... Have you seen any track yet, or heard more about what it's going to be like? If it's going to be another wacky Miller machine, that'll be something to be exited about.
  13. Eh, the construction company and in-house workers at Bell's arn't the brightest or most professional people. Notice how only one person was working in all those photos - the rest were all too busy sitting around and talking about sick things. That's one of the reasons construction is going so slow. Bell's never has had a knack for hiring good workers.
  14. Wow, that's a tiny piece of land. Looks like they're probably building something like the coaster at Nut Tree Family Park. Not what everyone was hoping for, but it should still be really good.
  15. And that's why you need to get the rest of the local community involved rather than just us. It seems like a long shot, but if you can raise the interest of a few thousand average locals, the city will have to pay attention. But even more than that, like robb said - the park needs to prove that it's worth staying open. Once again, it sounds like a long shot - but if a sizable group stood up and helped out the owners with fixing up the place, and a few local businesses contributed some funds, the park could stand out again, and thus stand a chance. The question is, who wants to join in and go through all that? I would - if I lived a few hours closer. I'll try to do the most I can over the net, but I can't do all that much other than cheer.
  16. Gee...you wonder why. --Robb "NOT a supporter of this kind of activity." Alvey I dunno Robb, many of these people have been voted into office or are payed by taxpayers and thus, when they screw up this massively, those who they work for should speak up. This is actually the best way to help out Joyland, but unfortunately, it will really help if loads of people who are actually from Whichita join in. I don't think a few coaster enthusiasts from around the country will do to much to sway the city's thinking. Still though, keep it up. Bell's was almost saved by this type of action.
  17. ^65ft tall? So it's not going to be a clone of the Scandia Screamer?
  18. Bell's is still coming down at a quick pace. Zingo has had much of its track taken off its second half, the 'fair' side has been completely deserted, the log flume is being ripped apart, and some of the buildings are coming down. As a reminder though, Bell's is indeed moving - not closing down forever. Almost all the rides are going to move and open again, and those that don't will be re-built bigger and better than before. In addition to the rides, Bell's old sign and carousel barn will make the move as well. On my visit today I saw workers ripping apart the old log flume, in a rather rough fashion. With the way they are cutting up the trough and ripping off the wood, I don't see how it can survive the move, so maybe a new log flume will be built at the new Bell's. As usual, more photos, commentary, and on-going coverage can be found at my site: www.superstevessupersite.com It looks like the Chili Peppers will come down next. They better re-build this flume or a close replica, it was loads of fun. All the wood was just ripped off and thrown around. Hottie alert. The flume had a few holes in the trough. Phantasmagoria was still being gutted while I was there - it's really did hold a lot of effects and scenes. The Hymalaya left a mess. The fair said they needed this part of the park cleared as soon as possible - for more parking, I'm sure. Looks like the turnaround may have its track removed soon. It looked like some cuts were being made up there. Some of the removed track. Zingo still looks great, even with its track being ripped off. The traditional Bell's sign shot.
  19. Eh, it may have a smaller budget, but I wouldn't pass this park off as 'ghetto' so quickly. After all, from a lot of what I've see, it's pretty clean, even if it doesn't have expensive theming and the lot. I would go. Wasn't this supposed to be a re-build of an old ride rather than a complete new coaster?
  20. ^I like it. It looks way better than what you have now.
  21. ^Yeah, I get your drift, but just remember if you ever decide to divulge into a 'TPR 2.0'. CSS would make a world of difference. For now, I'm going to side with everyone else and say that last version is just about perfect.
  22. Ah, what are you using to make this site? If you're still messing with tables, I seriously suggest you invest some time in learning a bit of CSS. It's not hard to learn, and once you start using it, making massive site-wide improvements are a breeze. Not to mention all the new stylistic possibilities you'd have. I like the site as it is, but if you ever wanted to take it up a notch stylistically, either learning CSS or getting a free CSS template off the net would help you out a lot.
  23. You could just set that column's height and use overflow:auto to allow for scrolling. That way they'd stay the same height, no matter what. Then again, if you are allergic to setting heights you could resort to smaller fonts and space for updates, as well as deleting them off the home page quicker.
  24. ^That sounds like the best option. Meh, well to some degree, that type of talk keeps this site less serious and more enjoyable than other, more rigid sites. I don't mind it at all. I see it as creative and fun rather than trashy or unprofessional.
  25. Well, I'm not sure it's technically correct to keep using this thread to post current photos, but eh, why start a new thread when this one is going so well? Anyway, I say that because I've got some new photos from my stop by the park last night. I'm sorry the photos suck so much, it was dark and my camera only really works well in light. As you can see, Zingo is coming apart carefully piece by piece. As of now, pretty much all the steel rails are off and the track base is quickly following. Most of the lower run facing the car park is trackless. As for the rest of the park, the fair side has been reduced to ruble while the upper portion remains mostly untouched. No work seems to have started on the Chili peppers or the log flume. As always, additonal information, more photos, and on-going coverage can be found on my site - www.superstevessupersite.com Not much is left over here other than concrete blocks. The fair will have fun removing those. Sigh... at least I'll be able to ride it again in a year or so. There used to be more trees here, they seem to have all been ripped out. Tch, this lot is going to be a real visual scar on the area when Bell's is gone, maybe they can fill it with another trailer park. All these little hops after the entrance fly-over are naked. This is some of the old steel rails that have been ripped off. Doesn't look like they can be used again. Many track bed pieces are now littering the old car park. No track here. Yup, here I am again. I'll miss this sight.
