  1. ^GM is either selling the brand or shutting it down.
  2. ^It's a comic book movie. Anything is possible. To elaborate on what I said before...I'd like to see Harley Quinn because she hasn't been in a movie yet and it would be easy to tie her into the current franchise story line (say that the Joker was taken to Arkham, met the chick, somehow died, and she carried on his legacy). Whatever happens in the next film, I'd personally like to see them dig deeper into the Batman enemy pool.
  3. I guess this is probably a good time to mention GM is considering shutting down or selling the Hummer brand. They're time has come and gone. But a new car is a new car. So congrats to you. Hope you can afford the gas and maintenance costs if the Hummer brand really is shut down...
  4. What's the obsession with being "professional"? Look at TPR. It's got about as simple a layout as a website can possibly have, yet it's still the best on the net! That's because Robb and Elissa have invested a lot of time, money, and effort in getting all sorts of great content for us to enjoy! It's all about content. You can have a template from geocities as long as you have quality content (constant updates, good park information, etc.)! No one will care what the site looks like. Starting with "looking professional", poor quality T-shirts, and "perks" is doing it backwards. You do that stuff AFTER you've established yourself.
  5. Harley Quinn??
  6. My last two card sales: Justin Upton autographed rookie (graded): $110 Jay Bruce autographed refractor rookie: $200 Baseball prospects is where the money is. Of course, I probably also have $500 in worthless cards now too (and another $500 worth of cards I'll sell for $1000 when the rookies have their one big game after being called up). But it is absolutely insane how cards for Single-A players go for thousands of dollars if they are autographed and have a low print run (the Jay Bruce card I sold was numbered to 500). Of course I also still have rookies of a bunch of Hall of Famers I never intend to sell. My personal favorite being a Don Drysdale rookie in great condition.
  7. Well, prior to this summer, in which they are apparently "over staffed", Magic didn't really have a choice but to mix and match their crews/# of trains just to keep the park open. It was either keep more people at ride A, or close rides B/C/D because they didn't have enough bodies. And the trains have to pulled off for rehab after X amount of time, so without the proper budget/staff to rehab them, they needed to conserve as much as possible. Those are the operational choices no park should have to make, but if you were a high up Magic...you had to play the hand you were dealt so to speak and do the best you could. Besides, hourly numbers at magic aren't accurate anyways. There's no cycle counter, and the numbers have to be pulled off the turnstiles manually every hour. So that means there is probably a 5 minute margin of error depending on who was taking the #'s down.
  8. I doubt the rides at SFMM get 850 an hour as it is right now!
  9. The Jim Hill "drama" is about the fact he has a track record of making stuff up. The example that stands out to me is when he wrote an article about BTTF that my friend's dad, who was the guy in charge of the project, laughed at because it was so inaccurate...
  10. ^The pre-scare dinner is every night. I would recommend purchasing it. That way you will be able to hit a few mazes/attractions before it gets insane.
  11. Shipwreck has the mazes in the ship and absolutely nothing else. The other mazes are REALLY bad. I would say HHN and Knott's are the two "must do" Halloween attractions. If you can, avoid Fri/Sat/Sun of that week. That last week is typically the busiet weekend of all at both parks.
  12. Is the raft ride more over rated than the frog hopper in a interestingly shaped box? And I miss Dragon Bar.
  13. ^Perhaps you should click the link..............
  14. ^^^You do realize the link you posted says absolutely nothing negative about Nintendo, right?............ That's exactly why people will love it. Who says all video games have to require skill. They can't just be fun?
  15. Considering how well all the other "Wii" games have done, combined with how well Rock Band and Guitar Hero have done...I'm sure it will be another it. I think it looks pretty cool. All I care about is Chrono Trigger DS.
  16. Because you have no interest in spending the money to operate the parks at a level where they will continue to make 100 million in revenue each year.
  17. ^^I'm not sure why you felt the need to dig up my old post, since you're taking it completely out of context. I'm pretty sure my experience working as an employee is relevant to a discussion about working at magic mountain, as opposed to a discussion about the parks marketing strategies and the economy. But while you're quoting me, you could have at least dug up the quote where I said essentially the same thing you just did almost two weeks ago:
  18. Magic Mountain has never been able to retain its best employees. And despite Jay's best efforts, they probably never will. With two parks within 75 miles that offer much better pay/benefits/work environments, Magic really only serves as a training ground for USH and Disneyland. And that's just in operations/maintenance. The same thing applies to food service, guest relations, merchandise, and so on with all the restaurants/stores/hotels/etc. in the area to lure them away. With rare exceptions, the people who stay at magic only stay at magic because they can't really do much better for themselves. There are some genuinely good "lifers" currently in management roles at the park that were simply held back under the "old regime", but there are probably a lot more people who thrived under the "old regime" and keep that culture alive because it's the only way they keep their jobs. So the challenge for the new management team is to find a way to get rid of those bad "lifers" while also finding a way to retain good employees to replace them. With all the competition and an ever tightening job market...it's going to be VERY VERY VERY VERY tough.
  19. ^I doubt Wild Rivers is going anywhere for awhile. For one, Irvine Meadows still has a lease to use the place as a concert venue for another 20 years. Who is going to want to buy houses/condos next to that? For another thing, it's not exactly the best time to building new developments. So I'm guessing there will be a lot of one year leases in Wild Rivers future before it's really gone.
  20. IMO, the ending isn't any better or worse. They're both under-whelming. The original was faux fire on the sides (steam with orange lighting that sort of looked like fire), steam cannons coming out from all around you (with more orange/red lighting), the Ln2 cannons that are still in use, and the projection on the ceiling which was the eclipse ending to kill the Mummy.
  21. ^^It's a real good work out.
  22. ^They could just be borrowing the names. I know the various cedar fair parks have had haunts of the same name and theme, but the mazes themselves were completely different. The one example I can think of for sure is one of the park had a C3 (carnival of carnivourous clowns) that was nothing like the one at Haunt.
  23. FYI: There is also a new Norman Bates character at the Bates Motel that puts a dead body in the trunk of a car and follows the tram with the "Norman Bates stare."
  24. 6 new mazes at Haunt=1 good maze (the movie one, since someone else is paying for it) and 5 mazes of recycled props.
