  1. I'm guessing it would be big news if a publicly traded partnership offered that much money to buy HRP.
  2. ^At first I too thought it could last. Central Florida could probably support a nicely done small theme park as a destination for locals (something like a larger version of Castle Park here in CA). Then I saw all the TR's and knew this park was not it.
  3. You can get away with that when you build one of the most amazing, complete, theme parks right from the beginning.

  5. Who needs HRP when you can spend $200 in fireworks and blow stuff up on the beach at night?!?!
  6. I know the park hasn't given up on the project, but I think it is safe to say that we won't be seeing construction start anytime soon.
  7. I personally enjoyed the park...even if we were done with it in like 20 minutes. But I also think Robb is 100% accurate in his assesement of management. It's obvious they were so out of touch with reality that the park really had no chance. As I said in the other HRP thread, I believe with a different pricing structure the park could have at least been moderately successful. Since I am used to horrible so cal traffic, the 10-15 minute drive from the beach area didn't seem like a bad thing to be...I think the problem was they did absolutely nothing to entice people to leave their beach/golf resorts to make that drive. Charging $50 with no discounts until the end, having a misguided marketing campaign (we saw TONS of billboards...but they were just quotes of reviews and little HRP logos), plus all the other problems that have been discussed over and over again on here simply gave tourists no reason to visit the park. Projecting 30,000 people a day (to put that in prospective: that would be considered EXTREMELY busy at SFMM or KBF), being ridiculously overstaffed, and having such long park hours, and all the other mistakes they made just reinforce the fact they were extremely out of touch with reality.
  8. The casts simply denote what time a person starts in Hollywood. There's tons of overlap.
  9. How was the KMG inversion? Awesome TR!@!
  10. I believe Shockwave's station became the Psyclone transfer track. It might have been Sarajevo Bobsleds station too.
  11. Keep in mind that your credit card will probably charge some sort of exchange fee (or offer a less than favorable exchange rate), so this option might be more expensive.
  12. They added 5 nights for 2008...I'm sure they plans for the future. Friday's and Saturday's at HHN are not horrible by any means. Only Texas Chainsaw gets a crazy wait, but if you hit that early on...it doesn't even matter. Everything else will post hour waits, but realistically they are around 45 minutes. There's plenty of time to do everything with the park open until 2am.
  13. I'll be withholding judgement until the ride actually opens. Both praise and criticism. It's way too early to be jumping to any conclusions.
  14. ^^Maximize your scare? A good slide will easily take out a whole group! If you can easily see a slide coming, they're just doing it wrong. It's supposed to be a quick strike type of scare. One second a dude is running towards you like he's going to chase you, the next second he's at your feet making you jump. And if he's good, he'll disappear right after. Or pop up right in front of you to continue the scare. A great slide is one of the best scares IMO. Crappy sliders like the ones at HHN (except for a few guys...) are horrible.
  15. Golden Zephyr might be pointless, but it fits right in with the classic boardwalk theme they are going for. I believe they modeled it after a former ride at Coney Island.
  16. Obviously as Backdraft proves, you can in fact have fire as part of an indoor attraction. ROTM could not have fire due to the space required to meet whatever code there is.
  17. To counter your Mummy example, the previous two "general announcements" were for Shrek and T2, which aside from different theater sizes, turned out to be exactly the same shows. To make your assumption based simply on one rides press release is silly. Unless of course you have seen the rides blueprints and can confirm for all of us that Singapore is getting the better version of the ride.
  18. ^^^So you've seen the show building for this ride in Singapore and can be 100% sure that it won't fit inside USH? That's quite the assumption to make considering that they are still doing ground work for the park...
  19. ^^I'm guessing a high capacity dark ride will be close to (or even better than) the capacity of those shows....
  20. "First of its kind in the world" could be a reference to any number of things on the ride. Spiderman uses film (don't know what Darkastle uses), so simply using digital projection can be the first they are talking about...we will see in 2010.
  21. Please do a search before posting a new topic The current Transformers discussion was only two posts below yours. Very hard to miss. Be sure to use the search function before posting a new topic. This helps keeps the boards as clutter free as possible!
  22. Why?
  23. Optimus Prime better tell us to get out of way of fire trucks (because they're not going to the movies) or I will be severely disappointed.
  24. My reviews... Dead Exposure: LOVED it. I loved seeing something different. I thought the strobe effects were annoying, but awesome. And even if the physical sets might have been "cheaper", the effect is awesome. The scareactors were doing a great job timing their movements to the strobes. This one was my favorite. The Hallow: My second favorite. Great sets and the scare actors were into it. Agree with the previous poster about the hanging heads. That has to be the most disturbing set I have seen in a Halloween maze. Loved it! Reflections of Fear: Just didn't get it. Scare actors weren't into it. Didn't see any sets that blew me away. The claustrophobia effects were nice, but annoying and pointless. Doomsday: Another one I didn't get. The makeup on the scareactors was all really cheap, and they weren't impressive at all. The ending had to be one of the most WTF scenes ever...didn't make any sense. Creatures: Great sets (even if they all felt like they were left over from Texas Chainsaw), really nice facade...no scares! All talent acting like hillbillies or just playing victims. Yawn. Interstellar Terror: Loved the sets, but again the actors were all about being victims and not doing any scaring! Yawn. This maze had my favorite effect with the whole tremors thing. Scare Zones... In general, I didn't like how the scarezones all seemed to be concentrated towards one area. The themeing and actors never really extended through all the way through any of the zones. And they were all way too small. Asylum in Wonderland: WAY too bright for scares. But the scareactors were having fun. The caterpillar guy wasn't funny. Fractured Tales: Didn't see any scares. Just saw great costumes from fairy tales and actors posing for pictures. Path of the Wicked: Stupid at opening when it is still bright out, much better at night. Small area and there wasn't enough actors there. But the flying monkeys, witch on the tower, and stilt dude were cool. The Skoolhouse: easily my favorite. The "bloody mary.." effect was awesome. Very creepy walking through central park with all the pumpkins. Too bad I didn't see any scareactors in the park section. They were all at the front by the school house. Cheap costumes, but it works for the theme. Streets of Blood: No themeing...good scareactors. I don't even bother calling the zombies in front of MiB and the chainsaw guys in San Fran scare zones. Such a waste that the entire back side of the park had no scare zones!!! Shows... Only bothered with Bill and Teds. Loved it this year. Left in the middle of all the dancing finale, since that is just boring to me (I know...I'm from California...I don't get the tradition...and saw it later that night at Hollywoods HHN anyways). But the 'action' part was great! Last year I thought Hollywoods turned out better, but this year I give the edge to Florida's.
