  1. ^As far as Southern California goes, Magic is the only park that is shutting down all the rides at midnight. I belive Disney and KBF only have to shut down a few for fireworks. But I don't think it's a big deal.
  2. Without a doubt, the park has the most value sold in pieces. It's going to be tough to find a buyer that is willing to buy the park and invest more into the park fixing the mistakes of the previous owners.
  3. It obviously doesn't make sense to have a ride that provides the same sensations/motions as racing would at an attraction based at a race track. They totally should have built a launched wooden coaster instead.
  4. ^Agreed. That makes a lot more sense, given their ownership of Dick Clark Productions and their push for "Six Flags TV." Or it could be absolutely nothing at all. Companies trademark names all the time that they end up doing nothing with. I believe you are given a certain amount of time to use a name before the trademark expires.
  5. IIRC, the construction site for the new coaster was right next to F2. Probably just closing the area down for construction access.
  6. They're both bad names. They actually got rid of the one thing I did like. I liked the "Join the Resistance" tagline they took off the logo. Hopefully that sticks around in their marketing stuff.
  7. FYI: Cedar Fair announced their capital expansion plans for 2009, and nothing was mentioned about Knotts. So whatever this is for, it is NOT for this year. Word is they are just going to put some grass there and possibly some playground equipment to fill in the gap until whatever project it is for gets underway.
  8. They probably just didn't have (or want to spend the money to make?) another sign. Thrill Shot was "closed for weather" for years even though the sky was blue and there was no winds.
  9. ^^I agree with that. Get your education (it doesn't have to be in a field directly related to management/business/etc.---just get the degree!), start working at a park, and go from there. Experience is definitely what matters most.
  10. I really enjoyed the fact that the movie was a "no frills" Bond. Just him being badass. But at the same time, I agree that some of the "old" Bond trademarks should have been mixed in as well. I liked that there was no gadgets, but they should have at least worked the famous quotes into the movie.
  11. The other half of the locker room has been empty since they upgraded to the Smart Carte lockers. Is there more activity in that section now?
  12. I guess no one here believes the official story that "Midnight Rider" was a code name while the Eagles deal was finalized (Greg Allman was on record saying he knew nothing of the ride when the Eagles deal was announced), and that the Eagles, specifically Joe Walsh, picked the song to be used and reviewed the ride elements. Oh, but that's right, management of the park was the only one who was clueless about amusement parks.... It's just a strange coincidence the motorcycle was at the exit, it was themed to the desert, and the fire man thing looks like something you would find at a roadside attraction? I'm not doubting you, but the ride did seem to have a lot that was inspired by the Midnight Rider music video.
  13. I'm most interested in seeing what the final Xtreme Pass offerings turn out to be. Hopefully the Flash Pass deal will be significant enough that it will actually be considered a perk. I also wonder if they will add any benefits to offset losing one of the major selling points of the Xtreme Pass.
  14. Yup. It was announced earlier this year.
  15. While I don't doubt that they will replace it with some off the shelf family coaster...we don't know for sure yet. I do know that the Playhouse structure was almost 30 years old (maybe older?), so it may have had other issues that forced KBF to remove it (much like the Haunted Shack, which had to be removed due to termites since there is no way it could have been rebuilt to comply with ADA laws).
  16. ^Ferris wheels are everywhere in Asia.
  17. I don't think many people are going to be thinking "holy crap! I can finally live my dream and go on a fake waterslide!!!"
  18. I just don't see the appeal in a water slide simulator. With real simulators, and even the virtual space mountain...at least there is some "fantasy" to it. Like you are really doing things that would not otherwise be possible. But a waterslide? Just doesn't strike me as something people would want to simulate.
  19. Ranger fans haven't seen real hockey in years anyways.
  20. ^The last update is a whole TWO days old. Are you f*cking serious?!?!?!
  21. Universal has an exclusive agreement with Kuka, so I am guessing it's not a robocoaster. Unless it is a rip off version. BTW, the track from that photo is from the same company that did the Space Mountain redo. Not the "certain company" you're dreaming of.
  22. When did Riddlers start closing for wind? Perhaps a delayed opening in the morning so it doesn't valley after the block brake with an empty train, but that never once happened while I was on the crew...
  23. You know, HRP's management was so dumb I actually believe they would let a "high up" just take a month off to work for another theme park. But in the rest of the theme park world, there's no way a "high up" doesn't get into some serious NDA/non-compete issues if he does that. Again, there's no way a publicly traded company makes a $275 million dollar offer without it being in the news.
  24. I see you don't have many posts on TPR. For future reference, all unconfirmed rumors belong in the rumor superthread.
  25. Camp Snoopy alone has more rides than HRP did in total.
