  1. ^Sorry, but the evidence is VERY much against him even being in the car crash. Anyone can use google images to find a picture of a screwed up leg.
  2. That looks just like the T-shirt from the 30th anniversary. And I'm sure they will sell the same shirt in a different color for guests like they did last year.

    ACE

The members of ACE are the type of people who would enjoy a DVD of nothing but great POV/footage of some "rare" rides. Makes sense to place the ad in their magazines.
  4. I voted for Brent for using the CS logo as his avatar.
  5. I didn't even notice the "fake" rockwork, nor does it bother me. Who cares? All I know is that when walking around the park, it looked like a "world class" park. It just needs a better signature ride and better operations, but there was certainly nothing wrong with the themeing IMO. I thought that the themeing was a notch below Disney/Universal, but at least on par with all the Busch parks. 100x better than any other parks in the states. In that picture, I noticed the awesome looking mayan temple themed restaurant, not the painted stairs I was walking on.
  6. Try working for a large corporation and saying "Hey, I need millions of dollars to start rebuilding the boardwalk without knowing the true extent of the damage, how our market has been affected, what the final cost might be, and so on..." and see how far you get. I certainly can't claim to be an expert in the corporate culture @ Landry's, but I personally think it is safe to assume that there has to be "red tape" involved to ensure their re-investment into Kemah is worthwhile. The place was major profitable (assuming that is true...I guess only I need evidence to back statements up?), and might very will still be. But Landry's would be doing a disservice to its investors if they did not properly evaluate the market post Hurricane Ike. 5.5 million people, spread out city, and so on...could all be meaningless. What if those 5.5 million now have extra family members living with them? Have to help rebuild their grandma's house? Move with displaced family members to another city? The point is there are SO many variables that could be meaningless or damaging to the boardwalk that need to (and probably will be) evaluated before anything major happens. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  7. The fact that the boardwalk is owned by a huge company just adds to the doubt the Boardwalk will be back IMO. Plus, according to wikipedia, it is only the restaurants owned by Landry's, not the amusements? It wouldn't be a smart business move to jump right back in without fully evaluating the situation. Hurricane Ike theoretically could have completely altered their market reach, business plan, construction costs, etc. It could also theoretically of had no effect on their business. But that's a decision that takes time to evaluate. Just as an example, if I had the option to spend $50 to visit the boardwalk or help my uncle who was displaced by Ike...I'm choosing to help my family. There could be a very small % of their business facing this dilemma, or a very large percentage...but they have to figure all that out before going forward with any plans. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make short turn repairs to get things back open and see what happens (it sounds like they've made it clear at least that much is in the plans), but you can add me to the list of doubters who think the place will be rebuilt "bigger and better than ever."
  8. It's too bad once Haunt actually starts you won't see any other photos on TPA for a year.
  9. This is being discussed in The Boardwalk Bullet thread. Please use the search function before posting.
  10. I'm not really sure anyones lower body could handle the ride without the MCBR. The ejector airtime is already insane!
  11. The park only has to report it to the state if their were injuries beyond "reasonable first aid." Without the need to call paramedics, it's probably very easy to cover it up. The park has to know the media isn't going to run with the story without photographic, video, or tons of witness accounts as the proof.
  12. Why isn't this thread stickied? It's the biggest coaster news of the century.
  13. ^Or the incident wasn't as bad as everyone thought...
  14. Actually, now is probably a good time to do that. So that when the next peak season comes around, a train isn't due for rehab from being cycled too much during the off-peak times... Or they could do a rehab now so the 3rd train is ready for the next peak season.
  15. Considering it is only roughly $3.50 for a McDonalds meal here...I bet you could find a pretty good deal on another hooker too.
  16. I don't think ANY of those photos are his. I found the Goliath one using google images (he cropped out the watermark for darrenb4.com). That's not cool. People like Robb, Elissa, and TPR members posting real PTR's put their own time, money, and effort into sharing their great photos, videos, and information with us and that needs to be respected.
  17. ^^Why would it be in a local newspaper? I'm not saying it is true or false, but if there was no injuries, it would be quite easy to "sweep under the rug." Newspapers won't run the story without solid proof to back it up, and the state doesn't have to be notified until they make any modifications to the ride if no one got hurt. It wouldn't even be the first time an X accident was "swept under the rug." However, without solid proof...this thread needs to be locked for the time being.
  18. As my first official act as King of the Jews...I want to proclaim that LSU still sucks. Thanks for the cake! I'll host a party/buy the next cake in Miami in January. Hopefully you'll be there too Jason.
  19. What's the big deal? I'm glad the parks are running two separate events. Sure it is a little disappointing they didn't add anything completely new, but I appreciate the fact they are being responsible and ensuring the long term success of the event. An updated Nightmare on Elm Street Maze, a "plussed" Terror Tram, and a new scare zone are still baby steps in the continued growth of the event. Universal payed for the license, the characters were extremely popular, and USH is trying to avoid the mistakes that killed their first run of HHN (high costs). Might as well get their monies worth out of the license and save a few dollars along the way. I could understand it being a HUGE disappointment if USF tried to do the same thing two years in a row, but not USH...
  20. What happened to SBMT? Did it just absorb into Ghost Town? ---Brent Now that the information is out there...SBMT became the home of the "Inferno" show. The monsters were moved to Ghost Town.
  21. I totally understand the business side of things, and that is fine by me if that is the direction the park wishes to take, but that statement seems like a total contradiction to what Jay and Neal have been working so hard to try and sell to us. They've worked so hard to try and improve the park, and have made some visible improvements that we all enjoy, but if the real reasons behind Tatsu not having 3 trains the whole summer are "sacrifices you don't want to make, but have to"...That's the attitude of the old Six Flags. But I knew this was coming. After Tim Burkhart's carefully worded "we will run the maximum trains available" statement, it was obvious something was up. I just tryed to give them the benefit of the doubt.
  22. My question is: what took so long? It's great to hear Tatsu now has three trains and the crew actually hauled ass for a change, but that doesn't excuse the fact it took the entire summer to do it! The "bitter ex-Magic" employees certainly were not the only people complaining about the lack of three trains and the slow crews throughout the entire summer, and while one good night is progress, until Tatsu consistently runs three trains with a good crew, people will continue to complain. It's the marquee attraction. There's no hiding bad crews/less than 3 trains/etc. Hopefully the positive momentum continues...
  23. Just a hunch...but "tourists in the busy season" probably make up the majority of the parks business. Shame on Sea World for offering them a better experience and making more money for themselves? I am just hoping they will incorporate it into that GPS thing they have. THAT would be a cool product!
  24. We've had enough "flip-flopping" in this country. Plus, with the Buckeyes penchant to...uhh...not show up for big games, you might be jinxing your campaign. Stay strong!
