  1. Thanks for taking Bernier off the Kings hand and giving them the replacement for Dustin Penner!
  2. ^^Because they are a business. Why would they change their business model if it is working? Your point about Disney is also off base---tourists will most definitely prefer Disney, but guess what? Turns out a lot of people live in southern california. And those people are currently being priced out of their Disney passes. They need somewhere to take their family. Hence the reason Knott's is pushing their cheaper annual passes and family rides.
  3. I expect nothing less than another awesome show.
  4. ^^I was actually going to guess that it was in storage for a showmen to restore (that lot is probably the area he stores his rides in the off season), so that seems likely.
  5. The ride is exactly the same. Only a slightly different queue layout.
  6. I disagree. At first, things improved. Then it went back to the same as it always was. That's because line employees attitudes are much more a reflection of their direct management team---something the GM has no part in hiring (save for the head of the department).
  7. The darker sections of the slides are probably friction pads to slow the rafts down a little bit? That's the only way I can see this thing not being insane.
  8. Technically, yes. He got moved to the corporate office first as "director of project management office" and currently serves as "corporate VP of information systems." However, it is probably not a coincidence those jobs are "behind the scenes" jobs as opposed to something higher up in the operations side of things.
  9. Just an FYI: having worked in this industry my entire adult life, I can tell you that most high ups are similar to the "ice queen." They walk the park, are friendly to guests who approach them, but are all business otherwise. It's just the way it is. They have so much to do behind the scenes, their walks in the parks are usually kept on a tight schedule. Jay Thomas put on a fantastic show, but didn't do enough behind the scenes to keep his job.
  10. Looks awesome! The possibilities are endless.
  11. This park is definitely on my bucket list of places I have to go to. This new tower only makes it seem even cooler!
  12. Exactly. Not to mention the cost of ignoring infrastructure is a lot more in the long run as well. As an example, remember Jay Thomas talking about how they had to completely overhaul their IT infrastructure a few years ago? Trying to squeeze every last dollar out of something ended up costing SFMM a few million bucks to modernize it.
  13. ^That one should have become reality. Damn neighbors!
  14. I disagree. An emphasis on upkeep, maintenance, and service to compliment new rides would most certainly make a profit in this market.
  15. ^That's because they have to now for ADA. But existing rides that were built pre-ADA are technically exempt, so it's great to see Disney making the effort to modify even their older rides to accommodate.
  16. Kudos to Universal. As I said elsewhere, Disney will always be king in Orlando. But with additions like the dining plan, and themed rooms like the one above (to go along with Transformers and Harry Potter 2.0), they are definitely doing all they can to get guests to venture away from Disney for a few days!
  17. That style (spanish revival) of architecture with a tower for the marquee was pretty common for "movie palaces" in the 1930's. The Fox Theatre in Westwood is a good example of one that is still open. Here's a picture from the other day.
  18. ^It's been awhile (probably too long, actually) since I have been on the ride. Did all the things in the sketches become reality? If not, I'm guessing they'll be pulling them out of the archives real soon.
  19. Sounds like their take on the Disney celebration---except theirs has the potential to be much cooler if the surprises involve penguins!
  20. Speaking of HHN...construction is already underway! Hmmm...this looks familiar.
  21. Rob Zombie+Haunted Houses+Goldfinger+Reel Big Fish=SOLD! Only thing I am worried about is that the Fearplex mazes sucked in the past...
  22. "Because I have one crazy patient, clearly that is enough reason for it to change. Never mind the millions of guests it hasn't offended and/or made do inappropriate things..."
