  1. Someday I will be able to afford a vacation to here, given the crazy rates...
  2. To be fair, it sounds like the main complaint is that she appears not to be approachable. She's also being unfairly picked on---why is no one in the other park threads talking about park GM sightings (or lack thereof?). Which is why I made my comment. When executives are in the park, it is usually for business purposes. Business can include walking around to make sure things are good, meeting with clients, meetings with management team, etc. Walt Disney couldn't exactly go incognito in the park, and to a lesser extent that was also true of Matt Ouimet at Disney (because of how rabid the fanbase is).
  3. But to answer your comment regarding Everest---I think it is in line with the other mountains. The Yeti is just "whatever" to me because you go by it so quick, but the mountain itself looks good.
  4. Smart move revenue wise, considering all the reports of long lines. But I can only imagine how upset guests will be now, with lines already being a chief complaint... None of those examples are fair comparisons.Hard Rock Park and Cypress Gardens had HORRIBLE locations, and Celebration City entered in an already saturated market too late in the game. Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert, has about 2 million locals in the region, and has no water park at all. It's safe to assume it was an underserved market.
  5. ^Not to get too far off topic, but I imagine that had they held out long enough, the lower lot of USH might have become a mini Marvel area---just to spite Disney and lock up that property.
  6. I guess they are taking a page out of SFMM's playbook.
  7. Good for Cedar Fair. Fresh management has really been a godsend for them!
  8. ^If you are going to question someone about a rumor, it's probably not the best idea to counter his post with more rumors. Nothing outside of the Harry Potter expansion has been confirmed yet either... Keep in mind they just built Transformers in a year. I suspect that they could get a new park open by 2018 if that is what they chose to do.
  9. Maybe it will get a movie deal! Very jealous of all those on the Japan trip...I miss Japan
  10. ^I think there might be a tiny bit of truth to that. And by that, I mean when the parents are too tired for another park day and just want to relax by the pool, at least the kids won't be totally pissed off because of the new slides. Just slightly pissed off.
  11. ^I bet the new coaster will be a kiddie/family coaster. I can't imagine them spending so much money after the waterpark investment. The focus on refurbishing rides still leads me to believe the park is headed towards becoming a waterpark with a limited selection of the dry rides remaining open.
  12. I really love that this trend has caught on with hotels in resort cities! Can't just have the standard pool anymore if you want to attract guests.
  13. ^Considering there were plenty of women who should not have been barely dressed...rides were definitely necessary.
  14. Great TR. Santa Monica Pier is a place that could really use another big ride. If I remember right, they still have one section of the pier still used as parking they could tap into.
  15. 1. No 2. No 3. Usually includes at least 1 buffet style meal. Nothing exciting, grilled items, potatoes, etc. Had an add-on option for a Mooseburger meal as well. 4. It hasn't in the past, but no details from this year have been released. I'm guessing no based on the date. 5. Lots of good hotels around Valencia. Just use the website of your choice, and I'm sure you'll find something.
  16. Cabin in the Woods it is! Should be fun... http://www.eviltakesroot.com
  17. Found the contract online: http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1262449/000119312510008732/dex1057.htm I stand corrected.
  18. Universal only owns the rights to the comic book versions. Disney can still do anything based off the movies.
  19. So this past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the "Electric Daisy Carnival" (EDC), which is known as a giant "rave." But as I found out, it is actually the largest music festival in North America (100,000-110,000 people a night) and offers a whole lot more than barely dressed women and furrys. Even if you don't like the music (I have to admit, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would), the production itself is so large scale and impressive you can't help but leave going "wow." For us theme park nerds, it featured a ride lineup that rivals or beats your local fair! EDC takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (which is about 20-30 minutes from the strip, next to Nellis AFB). So I get to take cool pictures like this. Not pictured: a sign I saw in the ICC center that said Indy has a radio code for when a driver experiences over 60G's. Holy crap! This was the main stage. It was the largest temporary stage ever built in North America. The DJ's would be set up in the "owls nest" underneath the Owl's wings. The Owl itself was a giant animatronic where the wings would open for a DJ's intro, then the head and eyes would interact for the set. Here's the main stage in action. I think this was AVICII or Tiesto's set for you EDM fans. And for our lighting guys on here...a photo from the FOH deck to show what powered the main stage. This was my personal favorite stage. All those video screens on the ceiling were on trusses that moved during DJ sets. ...And another of the 7 total stages they had for the weekend. One last stage photo taken from the roof. You'll also notice there happens to be rides at EDC. What a perfect segway! There were two zippers... ...A Zamperla Disk'O & KMG Inversion... ...an ARM drop tower... ...AND a Fabbri drop tower... ...A credit... ...And FOUR ferris wheels...plus a bunch of other rides I didn't bother to take pictures off. If rides or EDM music weren't your thing...there was lots of other things to take in....like fireworks! ...Random cool looking art structures throughout... ...having a gourmet meal on a private deck overlooking the main stage just for dinner packages... ...enjoy ridiculously priced alcohol from a cabana deck hosted by Marquee nightclub that was bottle service only... ...and even get married!!
  20. ^While I suspect a bigger ride may still be in the park, I don't think Cedar Fair wants KBF known as a thrill park. They tried it, and it just didn't work. Their core identity is being a nice family park with a little something extra for thrill seekers. In other news:
  21. Cue up the plan to ask for more money from the fair board because of the extra financing...
  22. Super jealous of the awesome merchandise! I want the entire set of the nano blocks!
  23. I am slightly bias, but USH's Mummy gets my vote! Bias aside, my actual top indoor rides: 1. ROTM @ UO 2. Space Mountain @ Magic Kingdom 3. Winjas 4. ROTM @ USH
  24. I'd rather have it run slower and not explode than be SBNO any longer!
