  1. Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
  2. Video update by Coasterbob62 on Youtube. Are those the famous mayflies seen at about the 4:50 mark? I was planning a June trip there next year, but may wait until mid July...lol
  3. ^^Weekdays (well M-TH) are very manageable for most of the rides on the dry side. Carolina Harbor may be more crowded. As stated many times in here before, Nighthawk, Ricochet & Flying Cobras have the longest waits on any given day due to capacity. The rest should be no problem so a Fast Pass wouldn't be needed.
  4. ^ & ^^I guess I'll find out next year on my Carowinds/CP/KI trip. Of course it's not why I would stop at this park...lol

  6. They did no such a thing. The opening is clearly still there... It was the lighting and shadows...
  7. ^Poor Guy...That was my first and only SLC. I couldn't wait to get off that demon contraption.
  8. I call Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando my home parks since I have a combined annual pass for them. The first ride I usually hit at BGT is Cheetah Hunt when I arrive before opening since it's bound to have a longer line soon after. If I arrive after the park's been open awhile (which is rare), I'll still head that direction but skip CH if the line is more than 20 minutes and head to Montu. At SWO if I ride anything upon arrival it's Manta. Otherwise I just head to Dolphin Theater to watch their first showing (usually @ 10) and stop by Key West & Dolphin Cove to animal watch on the way. I just like getting the shows out of the way earlier in the day (besides Shamu which I prefer in the evening) so the rest of the day can be done at leisure.
  9. I'd say to hide the hideous look of the bottom that needed painting. They just found a quick fix...lol
  10. Hopefully "Turn It Up' is just for the summer with Summer Nights. I really wish they could bring in another Broadway-style show like Katonga. I watched Iceploration once the year it opened and that was it. I just really don't care for Ice Shows. Even at SeaWorld Orlando during Christmas I don't even care to see their Ice skating show and have only seen it from a distance while waiting for the fireworks on NYE.
  11. Mine Blower construction update. Look at that barrel roll going in... From: Fun Spot America on Facebook
  12. ^^I think part of it may be that their schools were still in session (it was the day before their last day). It's always a treat to be able to go to any park during the short window that it's open on weekdays while the local children are still in school (esp outside of FL). The last time we took advantage of this was on a trip to Carowinds a couple years ago. Our schools ended a week before theirs so we had 3 pretty awesome days with little to no lines at all. A year before that we went to Dollywood during our spring break here while they were still in session and had a great time...even with it being cold.
  13. ^Sounds like you picked the perfect day to go (other than JL not open). With our schedules it's hard to go there during a slow time (partner works for the schools here). My last trip was on a Saturday in May '08 which was horrible in terms of wait times. I may have to just leave him behind one day and go up by myself...lol
  14. I just checked the forecast and currently Saturday has a lower chance than Sunday, but even Sunday is just showing scattered thunderstorms. These would likely be passing afternoon/early evening showers which is common this time of year in the area. You should be good to go.
  15. I don't believe you can renew a pass from that far back. You may need to contact KD Guest Services (804) 876-5000 to find out for sure, especially since it will not allow you to do so online.
  16. Mako is my personal favorite of the B&M hypers I've been on. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I rode it and it got better each time after. The POV released when they announced the ride didn't do it justice. I was a bit skeptical as to whether they played it too safe on this one; especially the height. I'm glad my feelings were wrong. Prior to riding Mako, Apollo's Chariot was my favorite hyper. This is interesting because Goliath is my least favorite hyper, even though I still rank it in my top 20. I also believe AC is very underrated.
  17. To think...next year may add a Boomerang to that stellar line up... Sorry...I had to tease. Maybe one year MA will stop being the stepchild.
  18. In terms of which park? That really is a hard decision. Carowinds is my original home park so I may have some bias. They are both great parks, tho currently I believe Kings Dominion is a bit more well rounded with it's variety of coasters and with the log flume. One thing to think about however: Kings Dominon is getting an RMC next year. If you think you'd be able to go there next year or in the next few years, I would chose Carowinds for this year since based of current info a coaster addition is not likely for next year there. Which ever park you choose, I wouldn't buy a fast lane in advance. You would be better off arriving and seeing how busy it is first so you don't feel like you wasted the extra $. If you choose Carowinds, you likely wouldn't need a Fast Lane as the area schools are still in session until June 9th. It may get busier in the late afternoon, but most rides would have short lines during the morning and early afternoon. I've been to Carowinds the first week of June while school was in session in recent years and everything but Nighthawk was a walk-on to 10 minute wait at most. The water park is usually busier than the dry side during the week. Really the only day Fast Lane would be worth it is Saturdays when obviously more people are off work/school. If you choose Kings Dominion, their schools are in session until Mid-June so the same would apply in terms of crowds. I hadn't been there in a long time, but others may be able to guide you on if you'd need a Fast Lane. I would think it would be similar to Carowinds...getting busier in the late afternoon as people get out of work/school.

  21. Actually...they haven't. They have only been working Mon-Thurs nights.
  22. It's nice to finally see the addition of more string lights in County Fair.
