  1. Among the coasters I've ridden, I'd have to say Scorpion at BGT. I really wouldn't say it's intense, but more an abrupt stoppage on the brake run and in the station afterwards. Of course after having ridden over the years I'm prepared for it. It may not be as bad as some others mentioned, but I likely hadn't been on those to know...lol
  2. ^I've noticed also that operations are much smoother & faster without the bins in the station. I'll use Fury 325 vs. Intimidator at Carowinds as an example. People get in their seats immediately and don't clog up the station to gather stuff when they get off the train. When I go to parks I will sometimes have a small drawstring bag that I can throw all my loose articles, water bottle & camera in, but that's only when I'm with someone who isn't going to ride anything and can hold it. Otherwise I make sure I have secure pockets for my phone & wallet. If I have my camera, it will end up in a l-o-c-k-e-r if we're all riding...along with anything they have. I don't even bring my souvenir cups to the park anymore for the cheap (or free) refills since I don't drink a lot of soda anyway and hate walking around with more than I really need.
  3. This should answer some of the questions being asked: Grand Texas Theme Park on Facebook https://communityimpact.com/houston/lake-houston-humble-kingwood/arts-entertainment/2017/06/16/grand-texas-theme-park-updates-construction-timeline/
  4. The thunderstorms generally pop up in the afternoon/early evenings and usually are just passing. I looked and it says scattered PM thunderstorms, so sounds about right. Most rides will shut down with lightning in the area (within 5 miles?) and reopen when it passes. Some will close down for high winds (like Windseeker, Fury 325 & Skytower). Most will run in the rain.
  5. 1: Wild Adventures (98 miles) 2: Universal Orlando (112 miles) 3: Fun Spot America Orlando (112 miles) However, I count BGT (130 miles) & SWO (117 miles) as my home parks since I've been a pass member for 10 years. *all distances are driving
  6. I mentioned somewhere...either here or elsewhere, the possibility of Sky Cabin demo...and look...the main person who contradicted me has now changed his tune because his brother is an engineer and said it looks like it...interesting...lol
  7. Or....it could be that one or more of the trees needed to be removed due to bad health. Just seems an odd place to add a coaster with all the other areas with SBNO attractions where one could go. I suppose this area could be for a turnaround for a giga or hyper. When I first saw there was a permit a couple weeks ago, I initially thought it was for the Tanganyika Tidal Wave area which has some very large trees. With it in this spot it may just be needing to remove some trees that may be dead or dying to protect the train tracks/tunnel/animals. I also feel that this area would be better suited for a resort if they were to indeed add one. However I would think it better to do something with all the closed attractions before starting such an investment.
  8. There is nothing wrong with riding Air Grover to get a credit. I would have ridden it if one of my nephews or nieces was with me, so what's the difference? LOL I mean I wouldn't have made a trip there (or any other place) just for a kiddie coaster, so I'm not that much of a whore. But if there's one at some park I'm already visiting, why not if I'm allowed? lol I rode the Flying Unicorn (before Potter obviously), Shamu Express, Sea Serpent (Fun Spot O) and Ant Farm Express (Wild Adventures) without an accompanying child too. I plan on riding Tasmanian Tiger next time I'm at the zoo (if it's open as it was closed last time...lol) and Kiddie Coaster at Fun Spot Kissimmee when I go to ride Mine Blower. The only other whoring credits I've missed at parks I've been to are Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster @ SFOG (last time I went the park was over crowded and wasn't waiting), Pteranodon Flyers at IOA (didn't have a child and they are pretty strict...or were) and Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster at USF. Not sure why I skipped the latter since I rode the one next door. #NOSHAMEHERE
  9. Permit Points to Expansion at Busch Gardens Tampa
  10. ^I wouldn't hold my breath for more than one addition.
  11. ^You can have all the reserved seating you want, but it won't be useful if you're stuck in a long queue line for something or reservation for a ride on Kraken Unleashed. Also on busy days, the shows can fill sometimes 20-30 minutes before showtime which puts a snag into any planning you may have done. Basically if you're wanting to see all the shows (since it's a show heavy park), sometimes it's hard to schedule it out just right to be able to mix everything. This is different from parks like Busch Gardens Tampa, SFOG, Cedar Point, ect. (that are ride heavy) where you can just literally go left or right and just ride as you get to them. Even after 10 years of going to the park I find it hard to hit all the shows in one day and still get to ride everything I want with all the crisscrossing you have to do to accomplish it. Timing truly is everything, especially without quick queue.
  12. ^Right now there is no Quick Queue available on Kraken Unleashed.
  13. ^Well...it's trademarked: https://trademarks.justia.com/866/30/top-86630445.html Besides, i"m sure it was in the contract to change any names that would confuse them with any Paramount movies. Another ride example is the Drop Zone towers that have to change. "Drop Zone" while a common phrase in the skydiving industry & military, it still had to change as to not confuse it with the prior ownership. Carowinds changed it to a generic "Drop Tower".
  14. ^I'm just glad Carowinds went with Afterburn instead of Flight Deck when they had to change it.
  15. A Boomerang is quite compact....I'm sure it could fit in places you can't even realize if you look at Google Maps...
  16. It fits in perfectly. It will be very unique to the whole area. I can't wait to ride in a few months.
  17. David D’Alessandro is out... SeaWorld stockholders vote off board chairman
  18. I hope they reroute it a little and EXTEND it some, it is pretty short compared to other lazy rivers and it is usually packed. If the Carolina Harbor expansion at Carowinds is any indication, I wouldn't expect them to touch the lazy river...at all. BTW the one at Carowinds is much smaller and one of the shortest I've ever seen. In terms of Cedar Fair parks, it's also longer than those at: Cedar Point Shores Kings Island Kings Dominion Michigan's Adventure California's Great America (which I believe is smaller than Carowinds') Canada's Wonderland Oceans Of Fun (the shortest of CF parks) It's about the same size/length as Dorney Park. Knott's has the longest of CF parks. So basically the lazy river at Valleyfair! is the 2nd or 3rd longest in the Cedar Fair chain. Unless they demolish that whole area and start over, I wouldn't expect any changes to it.
  19. Maybe a premier skyrocket 2 coaster? Doubt CGA would get one since SF Discovery Kingdom nearby has one.
  20. From American Amusement Park Museum and Club on Facebook:
  21. I agree 100%. I don't know how, but the airtime you get on that drop is better than most B&M hypers. I guess I"ll have to find out if it's open next time I go. It was closed when I went in late March around spring break time.
  22. Since most people generally attend parks during spring and summer, it makes perfect sense...even at year-round parks. Announcing at the end of the summer season gives people a reason to return the following year, especially if they aren't local. Attraction announcements boost season pass sales, especially for people who may not have come back or renewed for the next season/year if nothing significant was added. Also as someone before me mentioned, the passes are only good for the year they purchased them for. So the only chance they get it for 12 months is if they purchase it by January 1st. Of you buy it in July you still only get until Dec 31st to use it. So in Knott's case, waiting until late summer is the perfect time to hype up the next year's additions. Anyways, back to our scheduled discussion... I hope to be able to visit Silver Dollar City some day. It looks like a great park with an exciting addition coming next year.
  23. Does anyone have information about the boat tours around Cedar Point. Like the one done for Coastermania? Cost? Links?
  24. ^Cedar Point & Kings Dominion have yet to announce theirs and likely won't until August or September. They've both been under construction for some time. While those of us in the enthusiast world know what they are and some of their layouts, the GP just thinks "Oh they're doing something to that ride over there. I hope it will be smooth when they finish it". The same will likely be with the other Cedar Fair parks...Knott's included (sorry to burst your bubble). Some companies don't even bother announcing until after the park is closed for the season...like BGW did with Tempesto, even though we could clearly see them constructing it (mind you that was very abnormal for the parent company).
