Photo TR: North East Tour 2011
jynx242 replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for posting these! Canobie was an absolute delight! Far from the best coaster line-up, but one of the best parks on the trip! I had an absolute blast there. -

^thanks for the info. I'm stoked about the trip, and it starts NEXT WEEK. I like any flat-in-a-box, so astrosphere sounds fun! -
Wow - that's quite a brood. Are you going for the Dr. Carol Brady award?? Welcome aboard, glad to have ya'. Do any of the kiddo's share your theme park love?

Kind of reminds me of Brian and Stewie Griffin "And the evidence keeps piling up..." (Nobody could ever figure it out with me... other than I played Softball, Field Hockey, Golf and Tennis...and I loved the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheredge, and pot-luck dinners.) So what you are saying is that you are a Lesbian? Yeah - they reminded me that my first favorite song was by Abba, I was picking out my own outfits by 4 years old and the ONLY time I EVER mowed a yard for money is so I could buy a Diana Ross album. I guess I wasn't fooling anybody .

My parents were not thrilled, but they already knew. When I had "the talk" with them, their response was, "DUH." Kind of stole my thunder. Then they started citing examples of how they knew since I was like 4.

Advice Please - Im Coming To America
jynx242 replied to 560Poundcyclist's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Disney is expensive! A completely wonderful place though. You'll definitely want to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure (more coasters than Disney and a bit more intense.) Dueling Dragons, Hulk, Flight of the Hippogriff, the Mummy and Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket among other world class rides. SeaWorld is awesome as well. Besides jumping fish shows, they have Manta and Kraken. Tampa is about an hours drive from Orlando. From reading your other thread, you are certainly in shape enough to do it by bicycle, but it is HOT and VERY HUMID in Florida at this time of year. Someone mentioned the Disney Dining Plan and I'd agree with them. There are TONS of things to do in the Greater Orlando Area, so even if you can't make it to Busch Gardens in Tampa - you'll have plenty to keep you occupied. -
THANK You TPR

Late to the thread here, but this has made my day. Hearty congratulations are certainly due! When you come over to Florida, let us know. Some Southeastern US TPR folks (like me) would be happy to meet up with you for a day at Universal or Disney. -

I have an HTC Thunderbolt and am pretty happy with it. My smart phone is smarter than I am, but I'll figure it all out at about the time I'm due for an upgrade.

Frankly, for most parents, this is not news that they want to hear. Just goes with the territory. When you are ready, just tell him. You are not responsible for the reaction of others to this news (even your family,) you are responsible to yourself. If you are really worried, don't tell him until you are old enough to live on your own. It's been my experience that a lot of the time - even though they don't like it and really can't understand it - they come to accept it. ^living in the south, I've had plenty of people thump bibles at me - I just use the sound as a dance beat and move along

Awesome pictures! THanks for taking the time to post them. Definitely changes my opinion of Egypt parks (Fantazy Land is the only one I recall )

I, for one, think Carowinds is a great park. I've never had a bad time there and I wish I could get up there for Coaster Stock this year. Although it was roughly 1000 degrees last year, they did it up right. If you get the chance to go, I'd highly recommend it.

I remember when I worked at SFoG in the 80's that the people actually working the panel on any of the coasters were 2nd year employees at least. They basically had a season of training by working on checking restraints, etc...then they got to become an actual "ride-op." I'm assuming this is no longer the case. The entire situation is just terribly unfortunate and sad. I'm not going to cast aspersions or blame on anyone in particular since it seems that everyone involved seemed to have made crucial errors in judgement. From the man who died, to his friends and family, t o the ride ops, to the park Operations department, etc... It is not my place to judge anyone, but it kind of appears like a series of smaller mistakes and miscommunication built up into a very large problem. My thoughts go out to EVERYONE involved in the situation, from the family, to the ride ops, to the guests on the train. It must have been just devistating to witness. I can't think that even the most "blah" ride-op would really ever get over an incident like this.

Oh, I certainly hope so! This would make visits to some Cedar Fair parks MUCH more palatable. OH DEFINITELY! I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly. -

Scott, I've always been a fan of your opinions and your level headedness, but did you see the video? First off, thanks for the compliment, Chris. I did in fact watch the video in question. I've also read many of the articles written too, just so I could form a solid opinion on the matter. Honestly speaking, I'm sticking by my thoughts on this one. Personally I just don't see this as a possible suicide, and there's several reasons why I feel that way. For starters, naturally, the realistic side of me just says there's 1001 other ways to kill yourself. And usually if someone is depressed enough to the point of ending their own life, they're generally not thinking of "going out with a big thrill." Secondly, generally speaking, most people who commit suicide don't intentionally gather their family for the event. Finally, I noticed something I could directly relate to concerning the surviving family members who were interviewed. The suggested "calmness" and "accepting nature" with which they spoke of their fallen relative seemed to be directly related to their personal faith (as was referenced in the video clip of the deceased man). I understand not everyone will understand or even chose to give credit to that assumption or theory, and I always hesitate to bring religion to the conversation out of respect to everyone's own beliefs, but it was something that really stood out to me and helped solidify my opinion on the story. I'll also be the first to admit if I'm wrong on this, but I've got a really strong hunch that this was in no way a suicide. I knew I liked you for a reason...I think you got it in one with your description of their calmness due to faith. Although I am not a particularly "faithful" person, I've seen people go through literal hell on earth with calmness and dignity because of their faith, and you will never hear me condemn them for it. I also, personally, LOVED the intamin cable comment.

Find one of the enthusiast sites for the Honda Civic - there will be an entire forum devoted to repairs. If you can't find it, post a question and someone will answer you. Also - make sure to get the Chiltons or Haynes guide for your car (these are the tear down and rebuild manuals) which will have photos and instructions of how to do what you want to do. I've had to do this with my Spyder - the spyderchat forum has been invaluable to me. There is no Haynes guide to my car - the only guide available is about $200 from Toyota

Alot of B&M have special seats geared to larger visitors. Of all of the designers, Intamin is the least overweight friendly.

Your pictures were great and thanks for taking the time to post them. I know that doing a PTR can be intimidating . I know very little about this park, but this report has gotten me really jazzed about our upcoming visit on the North East tour! I freaking LOVE the food stands!! -

The old entrance was great! You could take the sky lift right to it from over near where Acrophobia sits now. I also seem to remember when there were two Sky Buckets criss-crossing the park. -

When we first went on the TPR tour in 2007, the band Ezra was playing in the bar. Unfortunately, there was a better band than them . Thanks for the report Steve - sounds like a great time. David -
