Thanks for the report! I'm going in a few weeks, and great news about the Scream Machine. It was my first wooden coaster and I'm glad to hear it got some TLC. One note - SHAME ON YOU for missing out on Mindbender rides !! David -

TPR's Official Australia Trip Update Thread!

Thank you guys for taking all of the photos and videos - it is appreciated. As always, it looks like an amazing time is being had by all. I freaking love kangaroo's!! I know they are probably the epitome of all that is evil or something, but I just think they are the coolest animals ever. David -
Like the person above me said - don't look for problems that aren't there. Just because someone is gay, does not mean that they want to jump on everything that has a pulse and a penis. I have a LOT of straight guy friends that I have no desire or inclination to see naked Gay people can just be friends, really, we can. We need friends just the same way anyone else does, especially when we are teenagers and attempting to be ourselves. It is scary as hell; and if the people we think we can depend on abandon us - it is lonely as hell too. David

tdub - I know from experience that coming out to your closest friends is TERRIFYING. Just be supportive and be his friend - that's what he needs. Being a gay teenager is just plain tough. He needs friends and a support network. Thanks for asking - it shows that you are truly a good friend of his.

^That either means you have downs syndrome, or you are a serial killer. I forget which is which... -
The Masquerade is still open and probably just like you remember it. Going to see a show there in a few weeks, actually. As for the DSB, I would definitely make the drive up I-85 from East Alabama and would most likely bring another person or two along. I used to go to the Masquerade ALL THE TIME. I actually go-go danced at Club Fetish there. If you were hanging out around the Masquerade in 1992, we might have met. I've gotta' check it out next time I'm up there.

I go every year on Easter Sunday and the operations (rides) are great. Partly because the place is a ghost town. Food Service, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. Johnny Rocket's was the only place we got decent service. Usually, the wait for Panda Express Food was longer than the wait for Goliath. D.

^ We'll get to try them out at Quassy this summer! -
This is definitely a new one to me!

We loved that episode! All the gays in the house were just giddy with the "first kiss" scene. I was happy, but suprised, that they did it. TWICE! I figure the hatemail is now PILING into FOX now . I also REALLY liked the original songs. They were much better than I expected.

Agreed! If I'm not mistaken, running the PTC's caused them to have to do major track work every off season, right? Hence - the Timberliners. -
You COULD care less? I know this isn't Magic Mountain-specific, but seeing as it's in this thread, is there a specific reason for the hatred of ACE? I'm neither a member of ACE nor Club TPR (just a keen observer of the passing scene), but the vitriol towards that group is something else. Have they attacked this site? I get that they gush about every ride/park to be recognized, and that's off-putting to some, but have there been any direct attacks on this site by them? Are they, as a group, substantially more out of shape/love gravy that much more/dress way worse/uglier than, say, this group? Guessing the answer is yes - I'm just surprised at the unapologetic attacks from one group to the other (and vice versa?). I'll take a stab at this from my perspective as a Club TPR member. We poke fun at ACE'rs and that is what it is - poking fun at them. If you look around this site - we poke even more fun at ourselves . Conversely - ACErs poke fun at us. I've been to events that had both TPR and ACE members and the majority of us hung out together and had a blast! There are some "hard core" ACE folks that don't like us, and that's fine with me. With any group of enthusiasts (of any sort) there are the majority of the folks there for enjoyment - then there are the "hard core" people. TPR as a whole is more light-hearted and more involved with theme parks as a whole than just Roller Coasters. From what I've heard from some of our newer members - we are more welcoming to younger folks as well. What you see as vitriol, is primarily the huge streak of "smartass" that finds its home here on TPR. We poke fun at everything and are oftentimes irreverent while doing it. Hope this helps. To stay on topic - I really, really like the new look. I didn't get the opportunity to ride Supes in it's old configuration, but it never really interested me that much. It seemed like a cool idea - but just didn't wow me. Reversing the cars would never have occurred to me, but it seems like it would be much more thrilling facing the ground - watching it fall away, then watching yourself fall towards it. d

^^ I think this is true, but having the Voyage as the first ride with them might not be the best idea. The Voyage (and Hades) are kind of extreme and I'd agree that testing them on a more "normal" ride might be best. I'd prefer them to get the "tweaked" design rather than the first of a kind. Gives them more data to use before the running them over the insane track that is The Voyage. -
I've also dated people who did not share my interest in theme parks. Well - he didn't share my obsession . We'd go to local parks together and have a fine time, but I'd go on the TPR trips without him. He was into his own thing (church music ministry) and he'd do that on his own as well. It works if you both respect each other - even if you don't "get" it, and trust each other to do their own thing without jumping on the nearest thing with a pulse and a penis . David

During the TPR trip last summer, Raven was definitely running the best of the three, but it still felt a little "off" from my 2007 rides. Nothing to do with comparing it to Voyage, since I rode it first of the coasters in the park. I am a Voyage fanboy, but try as I might, I couldn't really excuse the BEATING it gave us this summer. I only rode it three times in a full day at HW (which says ALOT.) Legend, Legend, Legend... Let me start by saying that I am not a big fan of laterals, therefore Legend isn't my cup of tea. This past summer, I rode it once. That is it. Dave Thomas and I rode together and seriously thought we heard spines snapping on that crazy ass right hand turn it makes before the helices. Love the look, love the theming, LOVE the wolf howl - but don't enjoy the ride as much as others. Raven was just awesome (consistancy anyone???) Perhaps it felt "off" because my prior rides on it were mostly at night. Still a great ride, but not being familiar with the layout, and just flying through the dark...mmmmmmm -
I think it was awesome that Santana showed some emotion though. I'll agree about Blaine! Every time he sings or does anything, I get a little mushy inside. I think it makes JP a little jealous, therefore I now play it up as much as possible! Unfortunately, if he is only 6 years younger than you - it makes it 16 years younger than me, and that's a little icky....
