  1. He was only 46, just died while on a walk with his dad. Sad.
  2. Don't expect anything next year except some giant footers that need to cure for a very long time Ala Dragster.
  3. They are measuring the height from the station. The lifthill actually goes uphill. Anyway it already looks loads better then Silver Bullet. Looks like the drop will have some whip and the loop will pull some very high g's.
  4. I have known this was coming all year and was a bit stymied as to why they woudl add a ride with an experience so close to Max Air....Until I rode the one at Dorney. Guys this ride it a totally different experience. It's an AWESOME ride. Besides, in 2007 you won't recognize a thing back there and everyone won't even car about a Screamin Swing let alone Top Thrill Dragster.
  5. ^yes because a park that size really needs a B and M floorless. They got what they needed more then anything, and that is a real restaurant. I can really see them turning the park into a mini Dorney, in fact I really hope that is what happens.
  6. You can get one just fine, you just have to go to the park to get it, not online. I have a SFSTL pass and that is 5 hours away from me, I know many of my friends have SFMM passes because it is the first park they visit every year along with Knott's.
  7. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Michigan's Adventure, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Michigan's Adventure . Michigan's Adventure Official Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Enjoy! --Robb _____________________________________________________ 2005 October 26th, 2005 - Park announces additions for 2006 season (see below) 2007 Ocrtober 2nd, 2007 - Thunderhawk announced - relocation of Geauga Lake's SLC 2010 November 11th, 2010 - Park announces Beach Party (interactive water play area) for 2011 2012 November 9th, 2012 - Lakeside Gliders announced for 2013 Great additions IMO, Coasters especially, somethign they sorely need. After getting the water agreement this year I think they will really start working on the place. They really need to market it too vacationers to the "Midwest Riviera" that is the West Coast of Michigan. Good to see my homepark get some love.
  8. IMO They are a gimmick, the flavor of the week so to speak. Very much like standups.
  9. Personally I hate the Beemer FLyer restraints. They hurt your legs terribly if you have to stay in them for any length of time. I have never had this problem on any of the Dutchman as you can at least relax on your back if there is a delay. Aside from the Prtzel loop, I really like the Dutchman better even if the Pretzel is a bit too intense for my likes, although I do always ride in the back to get my soul sucked out of me.
  10. ^Not even close to the same aside from the turn off the lift.
  11. You will find that Twister and Phoenix have a following much like Raven and Legend. Those who prefer Legend prefer Twister, those who prefer Raven prefer Phoenix. I prefer Twister and Legend. Twister is an absolutly unbelievable total package coaster. Crazy air, including the most amazing shot of lateral air on the planet. Rib smashing laterals, anunderground tunnel, split lifthill, the coolest looking view from the first drop of any coaster, the list goes on and on. Yes I am Twister's bitch. That being said, if you don't like a very strong physical ride Twister is not for you. The track work is impeccable and the ride is smooth as can be, but it is an extremely physical ride that makes you its bitch. I think I still have bruises from the lateral air at the helix entrance and that was over two weeks ago. IMO Phoenix is overrated, and this year at PPP it ran like crap, it is a really good fun ride, but just not my style. Too one dimensional.
  12. I don't see how El Toro is anymore like S:RoS then any other free form out and back.
  13. I have seen them repeatedly...and then turned away and ran. 8)
  14. I don't consider that source "golden" by any stretch of the imagination. Unless it works like a Vekoma GIB *EEEK* I don't see how a moving train will be able to crab a catch car without coming to a complete stop. Another problem I see is that the drop is not right after the lift, where will the catch car go? Sorry, not saying it won't happen but I really don't see why it would need a cable lift or how one would be implemented without being a headache operationally. With Intamin's current track record, the simpler and more proven the better.
  15. Different layouts or different facing trains, two credits. rolling thunder sfgadv -The Two tracks are completely different layouts rebel yell pkd--Forwards and backwards facing trains, plus the two are seperate for much of the course and mirrored, two credits chiller sfgadv-two completely different rides dragons ioa-two completely different rides matterhorn disneyland-iffy, just like CP's Gemini space moutin wdw-Two credits, different layouts. Your Mileage may vary but this is how I count things. Really there is no right or wrong way to do it.
  16. I would say it was a sign for a picnic or a church outing, that Dan picked up.
  17. That won't fly at CP. What you want to do is stand up as straight as you can and have the restraints pushed onto the top of your shoulder. In this scenario your crotch is clear of the the seat and your legs are straight as they should be.
  18. I doubt there will be a cable lift, the lift isn't tall enough to need one plus it is a normal run out to the lift hill form the station. The lift hill does not come directly out of the station. The only four Intamins to use a cable lift are Millennium Force, Expedition Ge Force, Thunder Dolphin, and I think Goliath. The lifthill is directly out of the station on these rides. All the other Intamins that turn out of the station, before they get to the lift hill have normal chain lifts.
  19. Mantis is trimmed on the first drop and I still find the elements to be WAY too intense for me to enjoy. It just absolutly kills my legs. It's funny how Chang doesn't do this and it is a mirror image of Mantis up until the midcourse. I actually really like Chang. On another note, has anyone else notice that the first two eleements on Batman the Escape are also the first two elements on Mantis and Chang? Aside from Chang I haven't met a single Stand Up that I can say I have enjoyed, in fact Iron Wolf has the dubious distinction of being the worst currently standing coaster I have ever rode. Worst all time is SFGADV's Viper, may in burn in hell whatever it was made into.
  20. Thanks, thought 30 for one side sounded like way too many.
  21. Oh Mean Streak does not even hold a candle to what Hercules was. You literally, not figuratively, Literally stopped on the first drop. From there on it was the worst thing ever. Hercules was in a completly different league then Mean Streak.
