  1. I'd be happy to tell you! My main sources of income are park entrance tickets, which average round $3000-$4000/month and food/drink/merchandise sales, which total around $1000/month. The rides are free, but I earn a rather negligible sum off ride photos, about $100/month, although that may increase slightly as newer rides are introduced with on ride photo systems (currently there are only two in the park). This further sells it for me. I think your model represents the most realistic income structure for most amusement parks. A "per-ride" structure certainly exists in some cases, but park entrance is still the best way to go when looking for a true representation. Still offers you the ability to thro in an occasional "up-charge" style ride, too!
  2. What's your in-game income sheet look like? I'm curious to know what the primary source of your income is: fixed entrance fee, pay per ride, or some combination of the two. Very creative perspective on this project, I appreciate someone trying to keep things more realistic and placing limitations on gameplay versus just using an unlimited amount of money on a sandbox.
  3. I went to Casino Pier a couple times a year with my family, so a lot of aspects to that place have a small nostalgic hold over me, but... that coaster... ugh. Good luck, Sacramento. Make sure you bring knee pads. The only decent coaster that place had was the old Jet Star (not to be confused with the Star Jet, the ride that replaced it and ultimately fell into the ocean after Sandy).
  4. It's too late in the day for that, but odds are this'll be done before the weekend.
  5. No way. I had a fun time at SFStL in 2013, and Justice League seems like it's a great step in the right direction for Six Flags dark rides, but if this ride is successful (and if I know Six Flags), this ride will slowly make it's way into other SF parks with old, out-of-date dark rides or otherwise abandoned simluation buildings (like the Right Stuff building @ SFGAdv). I'll wait until it's in my home park.
  6. Damn right, and I still stand by it. Glad to finally see something interesting!
  7. This violates park rules and is a potential safety issue. No thank you.
  8. I've been on both Intimidator and Diamondback with seat belts. I can safely say that I noticed no significant slow down in operations from seat belts and also couldn't even notice them while riding. This is coming from someone who's on Nitro at least once a week during the park season, which doesn't have any seat belts. My opinion is that if you say the seat belts significantly impacted your ride or slowed down the ride's operations, you already had a biased and non-objective opinion prior to riding.
  9. As much as I'd love to make it out to HoliWood Nights this year, it's looking more and more like the trip would end up being too expensive for me to undertake at this time. Oh well, maybe next year.
  10. I can see that technically SFGAdv is at fault in this case, but I think any reasonable person would see that the park made a reasonable attempt to remedy the situation by apologizing and offering to let her ride and that this lawsuit is pretty frivolous.
  11. ^ Uhhh, running in the park and physically assaulting them was definitely a lot worse. Besides, there's no way security would've apprecated you handling the situation the way you did, so I'm not sure I even believe this post. That said, yes, encountering riders who spit does suck. Didn't happen to me, but did to a friend of mine. Ruined his day.
  12. Ryan, do you know if maintenance or another group still uses the Rolling Thunder storage shed?
  13. Truth be told, I always kind of envisioned the supposed new path to get routed that way. Blue = potential path
  14. ^ Seems about right. I'm hoping that this'll allow for an opportunity to up the landscaping around the ride. Can't imagine they'd leave it looking like crap.
  15. I actually prefer this over the Golden Kingdom. I prefer this name, and I think the potential colorful light package will be a better fit for the colorful Plaza del Carnival. I'd be disappointed if this means that no path will be re-established between Kingda Ka and El Toro, though. It definitely still isn't a coaster.
  16. Namtab trains also only have seven rows on each car versus the normal eight in order for it to function properly with the ride mechanics. One more reason why you couldn't run two trains facing different directions.
  17. These are the coasters I've ridden that either no longer exist (I know B&R was sold, but I doubt that'll ever get built). There are a couple that have simply relocated, so they're not gone for good yet. Rolling Thunder: SFGAdv Batman & Robin: The Chiller: SFGAdv Great American Scream Machine: SFGAdv Viper: SFGAdv Hercules: Dorney Park Gwazi: BGT (soon to be, at least) Python:BGT Star Jet: Casino Pier Jet Star: Casino Pier Looping Coaster: Funtown Pier HyperSonic XLC: Kings Dominion Wild Cat: Keansburg Amusement Park Cyclone: SFNE
  18. ^ I think he's talking about this: http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/will-a-roller-coaster-and-ferris-wheel-revive-union-station/article_e0de9649-c083-53d9-9342-2216aab31944.html
  19. UPDATE: So my girlfriend just expressed interest in trying to do a Niagra Falls trip sometime this year, so I'm expanding my list: "*" = new to me Definitely: - SFGAdv - Hersheypark - Knoebels* (Haven't been there yet, and I really need to right this wrong) - Various small NJ parks, primarily piers along the shore (like Moreys)* Gonna really try to get to: - Lakemont Park* - Idlewild Park* If the Niagra trip happens: - Canada's Wonderland* - Marineland* - Darien Lake* My 2015 "reach" parks: - Dorney (not likely cuz I'm skipping on Cedar Fair passes until my next big trip) - SFNE & Lake Compounce (only if we visit my girlfriend's grandma again)
  20. 2013 and 2014 both saw me make larger vacations out of several new park visits throughout the US. 2015 will see me sticking closer to home, visiting a couple key parks in PA as well as trying to get the remaining feasible credits in NJ. 21. Kingda Ka / El Toro, but it helps that it's my home park (and was practically in my backyard for several years). If you take SFGAdv out of consideration, then it'd be Top Thrill Dragster / The Voyage.
  22. Just filled up yesterday at $2.17/gal in Burlington, NJ.
