  1. ^ Exactly. Unless Kingda Ka's trains suddenly spontaneously combust, it's not getting new ones.
  2. Yea I was at the park in the evening. Place was packed. 537 was insane all day, too, took me an hour to drive what should normally take me ten minutes.
  3. As much as I'd like Old Country to be reopened, I think they're going to continue to focus on the GK / PDC area. Once I saw how long Zumanjaro's queue was, I always felt that it was designed specifically to be shortened, allowing them to extend a path to better incorporate new rides.
  4. Yea, I was planning on checking that out, too. Haven't heard anything else about it but the couple posts on here, so I'm betting dollars to donuts that there's nothing, but who knows. I'll give an update tonight.
  5. ^ Haha, yep, it definitely does. I'm thinking about going tonight after work, I'll take a picture of it if I do.
  6. I personally LOVE this new addition. Something great for families with a great, unique twist. I can't wait to see how immersive the whole experience is! I also don't get the hate on the name, either, I like it! Can't wait to try it next year! If there's any drawback, it's that I feel that Maurer's cars don't spin as well as ones on Gerstlauer models since the weight is contained to the center of the car rather than the outside. It diminishes the potential spins on an off-balanced car.
  7. ^^ I was just going to say, this game looks to target anyone who turned the launch speed on their 50ft S&S tower in RCT to 100mph and giggled at the result. For example, me. This looks like the first roller coaster-related video game that I'd purchase in a long time.
  8. SFGAdv has plenty of areas already existing within the park (Old Country, for example) that need to be rehabbed before they even think about expanding any further. Besides, the park is already so expensive as it is. I think that any rumors about future part expansion like this evolve strictly out of wishful thinking.
  9. SFGAdv - 2015-2020: Procrastinate from writing a plan because I'm too busy reading and being entertained by this thread. 2021: Order a pepperoni pizza.
  10. 2002 is the last year for the park to have no new rides / attractions put in, but that year they did their "Summer of Festivals" where each week was a new theme with different exhibits in the center of the park (we had just come off of the War on Lines, SFHH being built, and Nitro in consecutive years, so I think a mild year was due). EDIT: Here the info from 2002, outlining the Festival and some new shows:
  11. It refers to the fact that the park has had three other fun houses that operated throughout its history: Funhouse, Laughland, and Funland.
  12. I haven't done it this year since I moved closer to work, but last year, when I was 5 minutes from the park, I would go after work for a couple hours, usually from 7:30 to closing. I RARELY had a night where I couldn't get on every main coaster at least once, usually squeezing in re-rides or a flat ride here or there or there as well. Summer weeknights are some of the best times to visit the park.
  13. This is exactly what I see whenever I'm visiting the park. There rarely seemed to ever be a point where there's no train in the station ready for the loading process, so it seems they've managed to minimize whatever impact to capacity these restrictions have created.
  14. So I just got word that I'm going to be sent to my company's office in SC, landing Sunday night, 7/27, through Thursday, 7/31. I'd like to try and get up to Carowinds one of the days in between (M, T, W), but the soonest it looks like I'll be there by is 6pm, leaving me around four hours. Is there a specific day that stands out from the others that I should go on? Also, is there a specific way I should manage my trip around the park in order to ensure I get a chance to ride each coaster?
  15. When I've done trips with my ex-fiance, I managed to get her really into counting credits as well (it was in her competitive nature), so hitting up the kiddie coasters was a lot more fun since we'd do them together. My new girlfriend thinks my hobby is really cool, and we've incorporated parks on our recent trip (Lake Compounce, SFNE), but she's not into counting credits, so when I hit up the Great Chase at SFNE, I had to do it all by my lonesome .It's definitely a lot less fun doing it by youself and getting weird looks from parents. I don't think I'm going to really go after them unless I'm with a large group of enthusiasts or there's absolutely no line. I'd like to have the credits, but not THAT badly.
  16. I don't think it's necessaily about the station itself (those rust stains have practically been there since the first rainfall after it opened in 2001), but the general state of it's queue / surrounding area. Tons of weeds, sparse gravel, general unkemptness. I don't agree with a lot of the comments accusing the park as being dirty with "cracked paths" everywhere, but the Nitro queue is in some serious need of TLC.
  17. I've been known to marathon Skull Mountain in the back row. Especially if it's at night and there's as little light in the building as possible. It's actually one of the few rides I enjoy marathoning.
  18. ^ When I was at the park the other day to ride both, I noticed that if they have the second train ready to go while the first train is waiting to launch, they still send the second one up behind it like in the past (when two trains per side were dispatched simultaneously) and have it wait so the third train can get loaded. By the point the third train is ready, enough time has passed and the first train has launched. I basically view it that instead of the trains stacking in the back, they stack in the front a bit. There's no real downtime in the station at all that prevents loading / unloading from moving like normal.
  19. This is a couple weeks old by now, but I just wanted to say that per your recommendation, Larry, my girlfriend and I got that ice cream nacho dessert when we visited Lake Compounce. It was definitely a highlight of the visit! Thanks! Rikki is very grateful...
