  1. ^ I'm at GAdv right now, watching it go with riders. Sorry for the blurriness.
  2. Just finished watching the POV video of Goliath, and all I have to say is... ... .... Looks like I should've planned my Midwest trip for 2014 instead of last month, especially when factoring in Banshee (though mostly for Goliath). Oh well, just one more reason to get back to SFGAm!
  3. How about the view of the park that this ride will now provide? I can already imagine climbing up at dusk, all of the park lights on as the sun gently sets on the horizon in the distance. It will truly be one-of-a-kind. This was why I was really hoping for the ride to be on the front of the tower; all of this would be missing if it were facing any other direction.
  4. This is perhaps what I'm most excited about. I'm really curious to see how this extra land is going to be used in the coming years. Based on it's location, additional rides in both the Golden Kingdom AND Plaza del Carnival are possible! I think a couple family-style flats would fit nicely. This is a valid point, and I'm hoping that it is taken into consideration with whatever they choose to do above. They did a good job addressing this issue a couple years ago with the Adventure Alley expansion, but one more decent family coaster I feel will be needed now that Rolling Thunder is rollin' out to pasture.
  5. I'm really excited for this addition, but I am going to miss Rolling Thunder. So many memories.
  6. This was posted to SFGAdv's Facebook page about 45 minutes ago: The main takeaway I see? "...our new attraction..." Singular. Maybe we won't see any of those rumored additional rides in Golden Kingdom after all, just the all-but-confirmed drop tower.
  7. /\/\ you took away all the capital letters. now i have nothing left to use for my post. nothing!!
  8. I like it because it'll serve a duel-purpose: give me something new to try out next year AND give the GP another reason to stay in WWK for longer so lines in the main park will remain shorter for longer. This can really help Dorney earn some more money over the next couple of years to prepare for the park's next major addition.
  9. I'm really excited for this addition! I like that it's very colorful; it pleases my inner child.
  10. The ones on Kingda Ka touch mine a lot, if ride-ops push down enough on the restraints (I'm 6'0"). There are times when I'll get thrown into the restraints cresting over the smaller airtime hill, putting extra pressure on my clavicle bones. I had similar experiences on Storm Runner this season, too.
  11. That wouldn't top MY ride list. My shoulders hurt just thinking about going through the top-hat upside-down as slow as it does. I personally don't give any clout to those rumors.
  12. I didn't start counting until I was already over 50, so not sure what that one was. First coaster was Runaway Mine Train @ SFGAdv, though. #100 was acheived this summer, and I'm proud to say it was Flying ACE Aerial Chase @ King Island. I embrace the shame! #150 will be coming up soon! Stuck at 143 for now.
  13. I respect your opinion, but I completely disagree. I recently finished a two-week, eight-park road trip with Holiday World as one of the stops. Voyage is, in my opinion, as rough as everyone is making it out to be. I rode it three times that day. First ride I took everything in, noticed the roughness, but was too focused on some of the other elements (layout, airtime, length, etc) from my first-ever ride on it to generate an educated opinion. The second ride was much different; the entire last half of the coaster was entirely unenjoyable for me because I had to firmly brace myself and ride as defensively as possible to minimize the amount of pain both the track and PTC trains were inflicting on my legs. I decided to ride it one last time before I left since I didn't know when I'd be back to Indiana; it was by far the worst ride of the three. I again could not enjoy the second half of the ride because every twist and turn jarred the lower half of my body. By the time we got to the brake run, I was struggling to regain control of my breath; the Voyage literally knocked the friggin' wind out of me. By that point, I had it. I got one final ride on Raven as a palate cleanser to remind me what a good wooden coaster should be and left. The best way to describe Voyage (other than spine-rattingly rough) is "frustrating". I was so incredibly frustrated with my experience on this coaster. Whenever I reflect on our trip to HW and my rides on Voyage, all I can think about is how much squandered potential there is. Unfortunately, all of those twists, turns, hills and airtime are overshadowed by the bruises I had on my legs. If RMC or any other company can smoothen this thing out and make it enjoyable again (get rid of those damn trains, too), the Voyage could easily be one of my favorite wooden coasters (and this is coming from someone who lives a couple minutes from El Toro, my current #1). All it is now is frustrating.
  14. I second this suggestion. I went to Blue Ash Chili when I visited KI last month and the food was very delicious. I recommend either the 6-way chili (spaghetti, chili, onion, beans, cheese, and fried jalapeno nuggets) or their Philly Chili, a Philly cheesesteak smothered in chili (top-quality beef used, I might add). They were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so a quick Youtube search will pull up the video for more.
  15. No, it must've been from a previous year. The audio system has been removed and the last rows are four-across again.
  16. Six Flags Great Adventure. I live right next to the Jackson outlets. If I decide at 7:45PM that I want to go to the park, I can be parked and walking towards the entrance by 7:50PM.
  17. I stayed at that Comfort Inn last week also and have nothing to complain about. Clean room, AC worked great, well-stocked bathrooms. I'd recommend it for anyone looking to save a few bucks so you can spend it in the park instead.
  18. I just visited Six Flags St Louis a couple weeks ago for the first time. I cam away with such great opinions and memories from my experiences there. American Thunder and Boss are great coasters, and you could truly sense that the employees cared about their jobs and the park there. It was very charming and relaxing, and I'm glad to see you guys are all having a blast, too!
  19. It was $170 for two Fast lane Plus passes ($85 each for two) for me on Friday, July 26th.
  20. Whaling is frowned upon and would draw the ire of PETA. I'm pretty sure they would do nothing but "wail" about said whaling. i kill myself...
