  1. Paintball building? He's referring to the building by the tent structures: Honestly, though, I don't feel that area will ever open up. It's always been blocked off, either by landscaping or rides, all the way back to the 1970s, as shown by archived satellite shots at Historic Aerials. Odds are it's purposefully constructed this way in order to divert traffic through the Boardwalk (games + food = $$$) or the Blue Tent Arcade (games = $$$).
  2. #1: I want to say it's Runaway Mine Train @ SFGAdv, but odds are my parents threw me on a Wacky Worm or Wacky Worm-like ride at a Jersey Shore park like Keansburg or Casino/Funtown Pier when I was little. #100: Flying ACE Aerial Chase @ KI #150: Great Chase @ SFNE #200: Black Diamond @ Knoebels
  3. ^ Me too. One of the aspects of my new role at work I'm most excited for is the potential to send me occasionally to our San Antonio office.
  4. I love these pieces of information, Ryan. Thanks!
  5. See, I don't know, I see things differently. I've had the same thought of "How would marketing advertise a year of TLC?" and felt it would never happen because most people coming to the park would s**t all over that. I just don't think it would entice people the way you think it would, otherwise we'd have seen it before elsewhere. Has any park used TLC in a "New for..." marketing plan?
  6. Well, who WOULDN'T want to cut in line to get on a Skywarp ASAP? If they're not, then why would Six Flags say that? Doesn't make sense.
  7. I may be the only one, but I wouldn't mind a Skywarp as the 2018 at all. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it looks like a lot of fun.
  8. If you look at the background of the concept art that shows a close up of one of the flying saucer turns, it looks like they actually managed to keep Shoreline Sprayground as well. Good catch, didn't even see that. Awesome!
  9. Based on the renderings, the only thing that seems to be getting removed is the Shoreline Sprayground complex, which isn't a big loss comparatively speaking. Bring on the park's 14th coaster!!
  10. Holy crap, this actually blew away my expectations. I didn't expect mat racers (f**king AWESOME-looking ones at that) AND a water coaster together. Excellent addition, Hershey!!
  11. It has to do with the DC license.
  12. ^ Interesting. I personally don't want to jump on the "What about capacity?" bandwagon, but a ride like this will certainly require disciplined load/unload procedures, and I have faith that the park wouldn't have chosen this addition without a plan to address the capacity issue.
  13. Thanks for posting those images, Ryan! I'm always fascinated by the planning process behind park additions. Count me in for hoping for a Giant Frisbee, also. Theme it after Wonder Woman, put it right where the Autobahn building is as an extension of Metropolis, and position it to swing out over the pathway. I think that'd be a great addition. That said, that doesn't really fit into the "world's first" category we've already been told, but hey, a guy can dream.
  14. Wow, glad no one was hurt. Should be pretty embarrassing for the park, almost as embarrassing as that vertically-shot video.
  15. TBH, ANY ride above 60 feet without any lights sounds kind of sad to me. Do the rides at BGW over that limit really not have any lights on them? I never knew about this restriction before.
  16. Well that's certainly interesting. It's hard to see them adding a large coaster right after building Invadr, and they already have Mach Tower so I doubt it's a drop tower. Maybe some sort of large swing ride like a Star Flyer? I'm certainly curious to see what comes of this.
  17. As always, Bill, your updates never cease to be less than amazing. Glad you had fun! It's interesting how much of a dichotomy there is between "Brit-type" whale people, and "my sister-type" whale people (*cough* Blackfish *cough*). I think it's a more divisive, caustic subject matter than most stuff in politics today. I can't even broach the subject with her, so I've learned to let sleeping dogs lie.
  18. "Uh oh, bird is coming my way! Quick, protect the nose!" *puts hand up*
  19. Glad you had a great time and loved Lightning Rod! Rikki and I were both very impressed with the park when we visited last year. That said... I 100% agree with you. I, too, was one of those "on the edge" riders who, on my first three rides on Lightning Rod, managed to get the lap bar down by myself without issue. However, the fourth ride, I was having an issue getting the bar down enough for the sensors, and the ride ops just look at you as you struggle to push it down yourself. I was even scolded when I whacked it once with a closed fist in order for it to budge more, getting told I could only push with open palms. Fortunately, I got it to go down that extra bit on my own, but it annoyed me. As you said, Robb, I can't think of another park anywhere that has this rule for any of their rides, so I can't think of any logical reason why they'd implement it. It artificially slows down operations and frankly, creates more embarrassing situations for guests that could otherwise be avoided. I know my weight issue is ultimately only my fault (and I'm dealing with it), and I totally get it if I can't ride safely because of my size, but the illogical policy essentially turned my situation into a spectacle as I kept pushing down while several ride ops just stared at me when at any other park in the world I'd get the extra nudge and everyone's happy. Aside from that, the park is awesome! The cinnamon bread was delicious! If only there was a way to eat the cinnamon bread while riding Lightning Rod, then the place would be perfect...(though thoughts like that are probably part of my problem).
