  1. We're here! Fury 325 was amazing. Currently showing Rikki around the park. If you happen to be around let me know!
  2. We spent the last three days visiting family in Charleston, SC, with the intention of timing the trip to see the eclipse in 100% totality. Rikki is a middle school science teacher and has an after-school astronomy club, so seeing the eclipse in full was pretty important to her. The level of darkness between the split seconds before and after totality and during it was pretty significant. It was definitely pretty cool to experience. Mind you, we didn't schedule this trip SOLELY to see the eclipse, nor would I have. We also visited family in Charleston and Charlotte, are about to head to Carowinds in the morning, and are going to spend three days at BGW afterwards. The eclipse was just a pretty cool thing to build a vacation around, especially since it was so significant to Rikki.
  3. That pizza slice looks like it came from Three Brothers. That's my mom's favorite place, she used to make us stop there every time we went to Seaside. There are better places, IMO, but you could've done a lot worse. Shame you didn't ride Tropical Storm while you were at Playlands. That's hands down one of the best flat rides I've ever been on. Glad you had fun, though! Awesome photos.
  4. Racer slides have quickly become a favorite of mine, ever since I got massive airtime going down the ones at Holiday World a few years ago. I can't wait to give these ones a shot.
  5. I forgot about these. Yea, that's definitely more plausible. I'd prefer this over the Skywarp, too.
  6. After listening to the recording at that phone number, I'm leaning more heavily towards believing we're getting a Skywarp.
  7. Pretty sure it's on that wall they constructed in Metropolis. You can see the cross-sections of the Old Country building in the background.
  8. I'm a huge sucker for great lighting packages and love that Monster and Hydrus have these chaser/running lights, they look amazing, so I think its very cool that this one will as well. Do we know if this has lapbars? Sorry if I missed that. Oh man, I don't know how I missed that! I'm the same, makes this announcement even better! The new picture Robb uploaded is of a close-up of the train. It's depicted with lap bars.
  9. This looks like it'll be a blast! Love the name and color, too; it's fits into that section very well. Perfect addition!
  10. Is it even really that much of a drought? Gold Striker came in 2013, just four years ago. That's not that long to me.
  11. This kind of coaster appeals strongly to me. I love anything that spins - tilt-a-whirls, Gravitrons, etc - and the faster, the better. I love that disoriented feeling. Definitely am going to have to make it out to SDC at some point to take this out for a... ...wait for it... ...SPIN!!!
  12. I don't know what I'm more excited about: finally getting some announcements, or the "thinning of the herd".
  13. I want to go back in time and bitch-slap all the spoiled enthusiasts who began pejoratively using the label "carnival ride" to express their discontent with Six Flags calling these things coasters. Most of the standard flat rides at amusement parks all originate from carnivals/state fairs and can still be found at them to this day, including Tilt-A-Whirls, Scramblers, Space Shot towers, Pirate Ships, Enterprises, Bumper Cars, Paratroopers, Music Expresses, Monsters, Looping Starships, Round Ups, Swings, just to name a select few. If you bitch about Super Loops using the "carnival ride" label as a reason but never do for any of these other rides, you're just stupid.
  14. It's almost here!!! Looks like I have to get my laptop now to watch theirs and kd at the same time. #FirstWorldProblems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone
  15. It's a shame to hear that about Raven, though it helps confirming Bill isn't crazy in his assessment from earlier this year. Raven was my favorite coaster when I visited (Legend was good, not great; Voyage was too much for me), hopefully it'll get some TLC treatment soon a la Legend.
  16. I'm really glad that Six Flags continues to see value in purchasing these larger flat rides, though I must also echo the sentiments of jealousy. Solid addition!
  17. I voted "indifferent". On rare occasion I'll think something is an interesting shot (that Wildfire shot is actually kind of cool), but by an large, I'm just not a fan of fish-eye lenses. I feel it's too easy for the effect to become distracting in either photos or videos.
  18. Six Flags America is gonna get a wall, and Six Flags Mexico is gonna pay for it
  19. Carowinds on 08/24, then a three-day trip to BGW from 08/25 to 08/27!! I'm pumped!!
  20. Yes. Too many to count. However, credit must be given when credit is due: the last couple of years have seen the revival of a bunch of stands and buildings throughout the park that were previously shuttered (Villian's Cafe, Sky Bar, Metro Grill, Munchopolis, the Macho Nacho makeover, etc). There's still plenty of work that needs to be done, but the park is clearly making efforts. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  21. I'm envious of your Scat ride. The church fair I recently went to with my cousin had one of these, but rain in the forecast kept all rides closed that day. Only time I've ever seen one in person, so I was bummed I didn't get the chance to ride it.
  22. 1) Simple - when first built (after Jumpin' Jack Flash was removed in the early 2000s), it was used as a paintball gallery. After a while it closed and has been boarded up ever since. 2) "Big Top Terror" is in the red tent next to the building. 3) The former simulator building is on the Boardwalk, right next to the go-karts. It hasn't run as a ride since 2010, but it houses two of the park's Fright Fest mazes each year with the remaining portions of the building used as bulk prize storage for the nearby games. I can't speak to how cheap or expensive those rides are, but since so many other parks have removed their respective versions as well, we can infer that the company clearly sees no value in those types of rides anymore.
  23. That timeline makes sense, Larry, that's around when the park was in that growth spurt after switching entrances. I'm with you, I've never been bothered by cutting through the arcade. I'd much rather the park work to reopen the Old Country section and Golden Kingdom path.
