  1. I'm very excited to see this project finally get off the ground. And even though the Takabisha clone looks awesome, I think I'm even more excited to see that crazy spinning coaster wound through it. Gerstlauer is on a roll in the US with HangTime, Adrenaline Peak, Tantrum, and these two coasters.
  2. Despite the terrible name, I actually like the colors quite a bit.
  3. Just submitted. I ranked 134 coasters, and I will admit I did get a bit lazy when it came to everything after about 70. But I am very happy with my Top 50 and Bottom 10.
  4. Currently finalizing my ranking right now. What I have found helpful, and hopefully this doesn't affect the algorithm, is that I am just lumping together "types" of coasters, ranking the coasters within that type (which is much easier), then ranking the types themselves. For example, I would put together B&M Floorlesses, GCI woodies, and Arrow mine trains. I would then rank the GCI woodies first, then B&M Floorlesses, then Arrow mine trains, in that order. This is the best way for me to tolerate ranking "mid-tier" coasters. This doesn't necessarily apply to the top coasters and bottom coasters, since some stand out on their own and can't rank within their "type" in my opinion (like Skyrush, for example, or the huge discrepancy between Riddler's Revenge at Apocalypse at SFA). Is this a good method? I can't wait to see the results.
  5. I know all of the attention is on that sexy wave turn, but has anybody thought about that crazy head chopper going down the drop? I love RMC so much.
  6. Could someone please describe to me the difference between the old and new LNM trains? Aside from a slightly different paint job, am I just blind? Usually I’m pretty geeky and can point out small differences, but I’m stuck on this one...
  7. Agreed totally. I really like Invertigo, but Stinger was horrible. That brand new patch of grass will be a big improvement. I think another reason I am completely fine with its removal is that it didn't contribute at all to the park's coaster lineup. They already have a superior inverted coaster and a superior shuttle coaster (which also happens to be inverted). I think a mid-size GCI would be perfect for Dorney, but of course everything is up in the air right now.
  8. I can understand not completely hating Invertigo (I rather enjoy it), but I agree that saying it is the best ride in the park is... strange. For me, that title goes to Banshee.
  9. What a pleasant sight! I’m not sure why I hated this one so much when I actually enjoy the one at Kings Island. Bring on the GCI or Kanonen or whatever replaces this. I can’t imagine it being worse...
  10. Lol, what chain do you think La Ronde is in? Haha I knew somebody would bring that up. Being that the chances of La Ronde getting leveled to the ground is about zero, I just assumed one would recognize that the entirety of my post was hypothetical. I guess my main point is that Goliath and Le Vampire are the only rides at the park worth giving a crap about!
  11. I’ve ridden: -GhostRider -Lightning Racer -Wildcat -Mystic Timbers -Apocalypse And my favorite is definitely GhostRider. If you don’t count that as a “real” GCI, then Mystic Timbers.
  12. Move Goliath to California's Great America, move Le Vampire to Valleyfair, and demolish the rest of the park. Sounds good to me.
  13. Amen to this. I made the mistake of sitting in a wheel seat, and the ride was pretty miserable. I then rode in the front seat at night that same day and it was glossy smooth. It's quite remarkable how much of a difference wheel vs non-wheel seats are.
  14. That vertical lift in the rain... ouch! Looks like a fun ride and a vast improvement over what it replaced!
  15. I would be VERY (pleasantly) surprised if HangTime opened this Saturday. There is still quite a bit to do with the queue, entrance, and gift shop. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
  16. Going to Lagoon sometime in April (opening day is 3/31, not 3/24 like I thought). I was thinking of going opening weekend next week, but I may decide to wait until Roller Coaster’s new trains are operational.
  17. Awesome! It looks like they are reshaping the overbank/turnaround like I thought. I said it before and I’ll say it again... I love the colors!
  18. You have got to be kidding me... *deep breaths* *contain anger*
  19. I absolutely loved Kings Dominion when I first visited last July. I was impressed with so many of the rides, and now with Twisted Timbers thrown in the mix, dare I say Kings Dominion has the best coaster lineup in the chain behind Cedar Point. I’m jealous of all of you riding this thing this weekend!
  20. I’ve gotta be honest, I’m actually kinda shocked this coaster is really getting built. The rate of expansion for this park is absolutely insane. Hopefully they’re not biting off more than they can chew.
  21. I know this was posted a few pages back, but after watching them run three trains for the past half hour or so, I think this is a very good estimate of the maximum capacity. Somewhere between 600 and 640 pph. With three trains, they seem to dispatch almost exactly every 90 seconds (I got an average of 89.6 second dispatches over a half dozen of them). The pattern seems to be dispatching a train when the previous train has reached the top of the non-inverting dive drop loop thingy (is there even a name for this?). Assuming 15 people per train (accounting for an empty seat or two every now and then), 90-second dispatches means 40 trains sent per hour. 40x15 = 600pph. Just like SoCalJasonland said. Even though it takes a while for the train to catch on to the lift and go up, this is actually an advantage since it allows the train behind it to unload in the station. I think, assuming dispatches are good, trains will stack for a maximum of 30 seconds. This is actually quite good for a ride that can run three trains without a MCBR. I think 600pph is quite good, and assuming full trains every dispatch, that number can reach 640pph. Of course, as we all know, this can vary a lot. But considering the hot mess that is GhostRider’s operations and frequent one-train service on Xcelerator, I think this will be one of the better capacity rides in the park. Hopefully once this and Xcelerator both open, the crowds will be a little more diluted and not everybody and their mom will flock to GhostRider. Just thought I’d add my two cents. I find things like capacity and multi-train operation really interesting and fun.
  22. When I went to Magic Mountain on March 8th, Twisted Colossus was closed and almost every coaster was running one train, but I still had a fantastic day. In fact, it was one of the best days I’ve had at the park, mostly because I think my expectations were in the right place. I knew rides would be running one train to save on maintenance costs, and I even knew TC would be closed that day (believe I saw it on Instagram). Everything is about expectations...
  23. Apparently it has been making several consecutive rollbacks the last couple days and that has caused a few unexpected delays. The park hasn’t released anything of course. At this point, it’s just a “time will tell” situation.
  24. Amen! I love both rides, but I305 is just on a whole different level. I think both rides worked well for their respective parks.
