  1. If you asked me 3 years ago, I would have said to RMC GhostRider in a heartbeat. But looking back, I completely understand the park's decision to keep it a traditional wooden roller coaster. Yes, the airtime has been sacrificed a little like others have said, but the ride is leaps and bounds better than it used to be that I really can't even complain at all. I know we're receiving HangTime this year and new roller coaster speculation is a long shot, but several years down the road when the time (and space lol) comes, I would still love to see a mini out-and-back B&M Hyper at the park. A people-eating floater airtime machine would do so much for the park and SoCal. But yeah, um, HangTime opens next weekend!
  2. I've still only ridden Twisted Colossus and Wicked Cyclone (they're pretty much neck and neck for me), however this summer I will very likely be riding Railblazer and Joker if my NorCal plans work out, so we'll see.
  3. I pretty much agree with everything said above (minus the beer stuff because, well, look at my age). Even though their lines can develop quickly, Wicked and Cannibal both have single rider lines that work very well (almost every car is always full), and operations at the park are overall very good. I have also found that weekends after Labor Day tend to be manageable crowds, at least until Frightmares starts. My biggest gripe with the park is how quickly lock er space fills up (especially at Wicked and Colossus), so I would advise to wear button/zipper pockets to store your items in so you don't have to worry about that. As for food, the park has an Arby's and a Subway plus a good teriyaki place down by Wild Mouse. Other than that, it's fairly typical theme park food options. As the date gets closer, let me know if you'd like to meet up. I'll be going a lot in August and September!
  4. Great photos! Reading your report makes me even more excited to ride Railblazer in July. These single rail coasters are just so...weird, in the best way possible!
  5. I'll be back at Lagoon this Saturday. Hopefully Roller Coaster will be running both trains unlike the last two times I visited.
  6. I am very curious to see Steel Vengeance's last lap after coming to a complete stop on the MCBR. Obviously it will make it to the end, but I wonder if it would be painfully slow or still have some speed through the airtime hills and rolls.
  7. For me, it depends on which type of coaster. I like them on GateKeeper and Banshee since those coasters have broad, accentuated elements or many positive G moments, but I really dislike them on Valravn since it takes away any possible airtime down the drops.
  8. Wow, this thing flies into the brake run. It also looks like it has great pacing and keeps its speed well. I've said it before and I'll say it again: sleeper hit!
  9. The roller coaster nerd in me is super curious to know how something like this was even allowed to occur in the first place given the insane number of checks and sensors on block systems this day in age, but all I can say is I hope this gets sorted out quickly and the ride resumes safe operation soon. Glad to hear the injuries were minimal.
  10. The almighty Afterburn at Carowinds!
  11. Has anyone who has been to the park recently taken a look at the park map? The map online still isn’t updated with HangTime, but I would expect the physical ones in the park to update first. I’m interested to see how they draw HangTime and squeeze it in there.
  12. When I rode Apocalypse (SFA) back in 2016 and Vortex (Carowinds) in 2017, I really disliked both coasters to the point that they were my bottom two coasters in the TPR poll. But I think that may be a skewed opinion since I believe I rode on the outside seats on both rides, and what I’ve found with B&M Stand-Ups is that there is a very large difference between the inside two and outside two seats. I LOVE Riddler’s Revenge on the inside seats particularly, but riding in an outside seat can be brutal sometimes. Hopefully I can try those two Stand-Ups again at some point, but at most it will go from me absolutely hating them to kind of being able to tolerate them. Aside from those two coasters, I also really didn’t like Goliath at SFNE (even though I rode it at SFMM as Deja Vu and actually liked it, I guess those new trains just make it suck). Yes, I rode it in the front row and still didn’t find it any better.
  13. the "2018 Season" has just barely started (it's still April). . why in the world would you have expected a 2019 Ride announcement?? SeaWorld tends to announce their following year’s attractions a whole year in advance (Electric Eel was announced this time last year, InvadR was announced in early spring of 2016, BGW’s VR attraction was announced this time last year), so that may be the reason some people may have expected a coaster announcement, if one were to come in 2019, which I don’t think it is. I wasn’t “disappointed” by this announcement because I kept my expectations minimal, but at the same time, it wouldn’t have surprised me to see BGT announce a 2019 coaster in April of 2018, based on SeaWorld’s history.
  14. ^Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m pretty sure a Hyper is coming first (my guess is 2020), but down the line I could totally see RMC Grizzly. RMC has proven with Twisted Cyclone and Twisted Timbers that they can work with basically any layout, so I’d love to see what they would come up with for Grizzly.
  15. This is essentially how I feel. After the REALLY solid top 3 (two fantastic, but very different, hypers and a kicka$$ invert), the park falls kinda flat coaster-wise. Some of the flats are good like Electro-Spin, Drop Tower, and Windseeker, but the rest of the coasters are mediocre at best. I am 100% behind a Mack launch coaster, spinning or not, coming to this park next year, if that turns out to be the case.
  16. That drop is definitely giving me Skyrush vibes with that "lip" after disconnecting from the lift hill. Looks fantastic!
  17. I didn't even notice the ride has 8 "cars" rather than the usual 6. The extra capacity will be great!
  18. Quick question for my fellow nerds out there: Is this ride *really* 450 feet? As in, is the structure itself 450 feet, or do you swing at 450 feet and the structure is even taller than that? There seems to be a very large difference in height between the top of the spire and where riders swing, so I just thought I’d ask and see if anyone knew. Either way, it’s terrifyingly high and the views look fantastic.
  19. Great mini report! From the looks of things, I’ll finally be heading to Northern California this summer with my family. So excited to finally ride Gold Striker, Flight Deck, Railblazer, plus all the coasters at SFDK. I’m interested to see how I feel about Patriot. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, some saying it’s lots of fun and leaps and bounds better than Vortex, and others saying it’s a piece of crap that the park may as well have removed. But people’s thoughts on Gold Striker and Flight Deck seem pretty consistent, so that’s getting me pumped up.
  20. I very much enjoy Super Loops as well. There is a handful of other flat rides I would prefer riding, but Super Loops are by no means bad rides. They just get a bad name because Six Flags markets them as roller coasters and it triggers so many enthusiasts when it really shouldn’t matter.
  21. If this indeed turns out to be a Mack coaster of some sorts, that makes me a happy camper. I’m glad to see Cedar Fair finally start purchasing from a variety of coaster manufacturers rather than just B&M all the time. Now we see them have a relationship with RMC, Gerstlauer, and Mack in addition to B&M and GCI.
  22. I absolutely HATE left turn yields at four-way intersections. Almost got in a car wreck today because of it. Roundabouts or designated turning lights are so much better.
  23. Always pass by there on the way to Murrieta, never time to stop though. Not to get off topic, but I'm surprised you actually go to Murrieta, for whatever reason! That's where I grew up and my family lives. Whenever I tell someone I'm from Murrieta, they're like "where?" Lol, sorry, just had to pop in and say that! Back to discussion...
  24. As much as the New England Sky Screamer terrified me, if presented the opportunity to ride this thing, there is no way I would back down. It looks ridiculous in the best way possible!
