  1. CraZanity opens on July 13th according to SFMM's Instagram!
  2. I would usually say to watch out for 4th of July crowds, but since that's on a Wednesday this year I really have no idea what crowds will be like the Monday and Tuesday before since "4th of July Weekend" is ambiguous this year. GhostRider, HangTime, and Xcelerator will have the longest lines, and GhostRider's will probably move the slowest. As long as Silver Bullet is running two trains (which I think is a very safe assumption this time of year), even a long-ish line will move pretty quickly. This is definitely not true with Xcel and GR. I can't really speak for HangTime since I haven't been since it opened. My best advice, and I think most people would agree, would be to get there before opening and go straight to GhostRider and hit it super early before the line fills up, but since you will be arriving in the afternoon, you may just need to brave the lines unfortunately. Knott's gets crazy busy around this time, holiday or not. For food, aside from the BBQ (which is my personal favorite at the park, even above the chicken dinner restaurant), there is some decent Mexican food options in Fiesta Village as well as a Ghost Town Grill in, well, Ghost Town. And of course there is Coasters Diner if you're into basic theme parks stuff like burgers or chicken tenders. The new BBQ restaurant is the only food in the park that really stands out to me as "above average." EDIT: Oh, and for Boysenberry, they offer the punch year-round and you can purchase BBQ, butter, etc. in the shops, but I *think* the only thing they offer at food service places is the punch and maybe a flavored ICEE as well. Someone else will have to fact check me on that.
  3. That I have ridden... California: Twisted Colossus, unless Railblazer completely blows me away when I ride it next month. Florida: Expedition Everest (I only went to Disney, haven't been to SWO, Universal, or BGT). Maryland: Superman: Ride of Steel Massachusetts: Wicked Cyclone Nevada: El Loco New Jersey: El Toro North Carolina: Fury 325 Ohio: Maverick (haven't ridden SV). Pennsylvania: Skyrush South Carolina: Intimidator, but Afterburn isn't far behind. Utah: Cannibal Virginia: Intimidator 305
  4. I don't think I've wanted a coaster to end as much as Apocalypse at Six Flags America. Not only my least favorite B&M but probably my least favorite coaster of all time. I don't care if I ever ride it again. And to be honest, Vortex at Carowinds really isn't much better either.
  5. 1. Beast (7359 ft) 2. Fury 325 (6602 ft) 3. Millennium Force (6595 ft) 4. California Screamin' (6072 ft) 5. Desperado (5843 ft) I'd really love to get Voyage on that list sometime soon!
  6. ^If both Carowinds and Kennywood get Mack multi-launchers in 2019, I will be a VERY happy camper!
  7. Quoting this because I pretty much have the same questions! Although I'll be there on Monday July 23. Also, is Vertical Velocity open? Any chance it will be open late next month? I'm not holding my breath since I know that thing is down all the time, but I'd like to ride it when I'm there.
  8. Completely random question: Does anyone know what happened to the Boomerang? It has been completely gone for a year now. Any word on where it went after being refurbished in Europe?
  9. If you have the flexibility to visit SFMM anytime between the 20th and 29th, I would definitely recommend NOT going on the weekend. It's summer and schools are out, so no day is going to be light, but Saturdays and even Sundays can be horrific during the summer, and Six Flags isn't the best at handling large crowds very well. And I would say at least 1.5 days at the park is necessary if this is your first time and you want to ride everything and have re-rides. So whatever weekday(s) work for you, but I would avoid the park like the plague on the weekend if possible. You will have a much better time. As for rides, I'm sure you're aware of all the big ones, so of course get on those. Rides like Batman and Ninja often get flown under the radar, so be sure not to miss those. I really like Viper, but others don't, so that's up to your tastes. Riddler's Revenge is unlike most stand-up coasters and is actually super fun and enjoyable, but I would recommend sitting on one of the inner two seats rather than the outer seats for a smoother ride. The heartline of the inversions is so much better in those seats. Try Twisted Colossus both in the back and the front. They're both great and offer different experiences. But of course, RMCs are good in any seat, so it's all up to you. Lex Luthor is also a great drop tower. I haven't done it with VR, but regardless it's a really good ride. As for food, I really like Food, Etc. (between Superman and Goliath). They have a lot of options and the food is pretty decent. But keep in mind this place gets PACKED so I would recommended eating in off-peak times, and going on a weekday should help a little too. I'm not sure if you have the meal plan, but there are lots of options for that here as well, plus meals for those with dietary restrictions and intolerances and what not. Other than that, I would say to keep your expectations fairly minimal outside the coasters. The park has great rides with lots of variety, but they lack in pretty much every other area. Not trying to ruin your experience (I still LOVE this place), but I think it's important to manage expectations when first visiting this park. Hope you have fun!
  10. Officially booked hotels for our first NorCal trip next month. Super stoked for Railblazer and Gold Striker. I assume a Wednesday in late July will have fairly manageable crowds? Besides Railblazer, of course.
  11. Looks great. I like the 9-car trains - that's definitely unique for an inverted coaster.
  12. This looks fantastic! I have pretty much avoided making any B&Ms in Planet Coaster because their style is so incredibly difficult to recreate, but you did a very good job with the shaping on Goliath! I really love your ride collection and layout of the park too.
  13. Honestly, you may not be too far off! Sounds about right to me.
  14. No. It is most similar, almost identical, to the ones going in at Six Flags parks (Riddler at SFOT, Wonder Woman at SFDK, Harley Quinn at SFNE), however I believe this one is slightly bigger so SFMM can claim the record of having the largest.
  15. Showed up for me! So much better, wow. Thank you! I wasn't expecting this to happen while you were still in Japan! Much appreciated.
  16. Screamin' Swings are amazing flat rides, so if this is true that would be a great addition to an already great park. Considering they have received 3 coasters in the last 6 years, a large flat like this is perfect IMO.
  17. Sweet. I'm not gonna lie, I am a little surprised Cedar Fair is building another B&M Dive that's just as big (at the minimum) or bigger than Valravn. Usually they're not the ones to steal their own records in such short time, especially from a ride at Cedar Point. I'm really hoping this thing has 10-across seating with regular restraints, but this is Cedar Fair so there is about a 0% chance of that happening. But I can dream.
  18. Oh my goodness. Hopefully everyone is alright. It really saddens me when things like this happen since it's completely out of the riders' control and should never occur in the first place.
  19. I still haven't ridden a Sky Rocket II (I will ride both Electric Eel and Superman for the first time next month), but these look like great rides that give parks a lot of bang for their buck. And like another poster said, these Sky Rockets will be very spread out. NorCal, SoCal, New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Florida. Now we just need to get a park like Worlds of Fun get one!
  20. Great report! I pretty much agree with all of your opinions on the rides, except maybe Nighthawk Afterburn is definitely my favorite "classic" B&M Invert as well, and I say that because I also love Banshee but for different reasons. Carowinds really has an amazing top 3 and the new Mack next year solidifies that even more.
  21. Yes!!! LOVE that color scheme on RMCs. Can't wait to see a layout.
  22. At least when it comes to Knott's, I have always been way more bothered by the extremely excessive number of people who use the exit to ride GhostRider for whatever reason. If one or two people have a disability and use the system, I totally get that. No issue. It's when they bring along their 12 family members who are more than capable of standing in line like everyone else. That's what drives me nuts. I've seen times where an exit group fills half the train or more. And the weirdest thing is it's ONLY GhostRider... no other coaster in the park has nearly as many of these people. As for line jumping, I agree with Coasterbill and Boldikus. Sometimes it's just not worth the fight.
  23. Thank you so much for sharing. I completely forgot the park has one of the few operating Arrow shuttle loops out there (this, the one at Elitch, and the one at Blackpool - is that it?). I'm very interested to see how the park changes, for better or for worse, under Six Flags.
  24. it would be interesting to see the costs. a park like CP is what, 3-4 times the size of knott's. so i'm sure CP's costs are incredibly high during the season. 2x, 3x more than knott's? so i honestly am not sure how different their yearly costs really are or not. And don't forget that just because a park like Cedar Point doesn't operate for 6 months of the year doesn't mean they are sitting back and relaxing all winter. I'm sure maintaining all 398573945 of their roller coasters cannot be cheap.
