  1. I am totally down for a B&M Hyper at this park. It will provide a very different experience from Skyrush despite having similar stats.
  2. I wonder if they're going to announce anything else besides the new coaster. I know "largest announcement in history" shouldn't be taken too literally, but with Fury's huge announcement to live up to, I can't help but wonder if there is something else (small, of course) in addition to the coaster. Kinda like how Canada's Wonderland announced Winterfest in addition to Yukon Striker, although this park already has Winterfest. Can't wait!
  3. ^^I think that's actually a very reasonable guess. If Dinos and CCMR are leaving, that definitely frees up a lot of prime real estate for the park.
  4. Nice little update! I know we all joke around about Dorney being empty all the time (and I witnessed it for myself a couple years ago), but I'm curious why. Why is the park always such a ghost town? Why does Hershey, Knoebels, SFGAdv and others always get crowds but Dorney doesn't? Sorry if that's a silly question, but I'm genuinely curious.
  5. I love announcements where I really have no idea what to expect (like Kennywood's). It just makes the anticipation that much more fun. The 29th/30th can't come soon enough!
  6. Thank you for the info! Due to a few scheduling conflicts, we decided not to go Labor Day weekend. However I would still love to hear any tips you have, since we may consider going next summer and hitting Arches National Park as well.
  7. Considering you can get dirt cheap flights on Frontier from SLC to Denver, I've always thought about possibly taking a long weekend and going down to check out Elitch and Lakeside, but I guess neither park is good enough to make it worth the time and money - especially with Twister and Sidewinder closed. However, if the stars were to align, and Six Flags buys Elitch and RMCs Twister, I'm on the *FIRST* flight out there! lol With that being said, I'm really excited to hopefully visit Glenwood Caverns this Labor Day... if plans work out. I've heard really good things about it, and it seems to be the "star" of Colorado when it comes to theme parks.
  8. If plans work out, my next park could be Glenwood Caverns on Labor Day weekend! If not, then Lagoon.
  9. I hope Xcelerator stays around for a long, long time. It's a great coaster and is pretty iconic for the park. I just want them to paint the stupid thing...
  10. OK, this is totally awesome. The more Intamin drop towers in the world, the better!
  11. It's always nice to see first-timers' reports on my home park. I pretty much share all of your opinions on everything. I love HangTime and Xcelerator, but I agree and still think GhostRider is the star attraction at Knott's. Every year since the refurbishment it gets better and better.
  12. Right now. Fridays at work are slow... When was the last time you rode a roller coaster in your top 5?
  13. Undertow @ Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!
  14. The nerd in me wonders how large these frisbees can actually get. I wonder what the "cap" is before the wear and tear on the motor and structure is too much.
  15. I'm sorry, but I am going to respectfully disagree with this. This huge closure that lasted from July of last year to March of this year was really the ride's first major issue since the cable incident back in late 2009 (and even then, the ride was only closed for 7 months from Sept to April). Other than those two major repairs, the ride has operated VERY consistently. Yes, a lot of times with only one train, but they ran two trains for almost a full year in 2016-2017 before the ride closed last July. The ride does have issues, and like you said especially over the last year, but there is absolutely no way that TTD has operated more days in the last 5 years than Xcelerator. Absolutely no way. EDIT: ^And also, while I agree much of the charm was taken away in the early-mid 2000s when Cedar Fair was plopping coasters in the park left and right, I would argue Knott's is a MUCH better place now than it was 6-7 years ago when Kinzel left office. So much of the park has been upgraded, restored, refurbished, and improved in the last 7 years under Ouimet/Zimmermann. Not trying to sound like a fanboy, but I'm sure other people agree.
  16. I would really like to see a Giant Discovery at this park too. I'm actually a little surprised they haven't received one yet. I also wouldn't be surprised if they build the world's largest version and surpass CraZanity. I mean, they did build Zumanjaro only two years after Lex Luthor.
  17. My Grad Nite was at DCA, and it was totally awesome. I was very close to not going, mostly because enormous crowds and obnoxious classmates didn't exactly draw me in, but I am so glad I did. California Screamin' (at the time) was running like a thousand trains and the line was basically a moving walkway. We didn't even go near Guardians because it was new at the time and the line was totally ridiculous. Some areas of the park get congested with people dancing and grinding on each other, but honestly if you are with friends and people you enjoy being around, I highly recommend going. All rides were open as far as I could tell. I guess the only "down side" was the crazy thoroughness of bringing bags in and them checking literally everything in your possession (one of my friends had to throw away an empty, dry reusable water bottle as well as some school supplies like a few pens and sharpies and what not), but I honestly don't blame them being so strict because high schoolers are dumb and will try and sneak stuff in so as long as you bring the absolutely bare minimum and aren't stupid, you'll have an awesome time!
  18. Looks like a nice addition to the park. I think antique cars are a staple attraction at every amusement park, so it's nice to see KI recognize that and bring them back.
  19. Icon also has 16-passenger trains. I think it's pretty much 50/50 being spinning or not, and I would be completely happy either way to be honest.
  20. How about a 300-foot winged dive coaster? In all seriousness, I'm having a hard time thinking of one too. I think we can rule out a wing coaster with GateKeeper and Thunderbird (arguable the two best) pretty close by, and even X-Flight and Wild Eagle to some extent. I suppose a Dive is possible (maybe a smaller one like Valkyria), but with Valravn and now Yukon Striker, I also have a hard time imagining this as well. I suppose that leaves Giga, unless they would go with a modern vest-restraint version of a sit-down or floorless looper (because this is CF and we all know they would opt for the vest restraints). Or maybe a new type of family coaster from them. This is a toughie, assuming this whole "B&M 2020" thing isn't just nonsense.
  21. LOL bye Felicia! You won't be missed, by me at least!
  22. This was my initial thought too, but they did say "find out what's returning to Kings Island" so that would imply something that used to exist is coming back. I guess we'll find out soon.
  23. Upon completion in 2000, Millennium Force broke six world records and was the world's first giga coaster . . . Sorry if I was not clear. My point is that when CF built Fury 325, they did not take records from Millennium Force. Those records were gone only a few months after its opening when Steel Dragon 2000 came around. The scenario for Valravn / Yukon Striker is different, and that is simply what I'm trying to say. And it is most definitely NOT a bad thing! I LOVE that CW has a huge new coaster with lots of records. I couldn't be more happy with this addition really.
  24. Well, they did that with FURY 325 (although it isn't close to CP) after years of saying they won't build a "regular" coaster taller than MF. I think they don't care about keeping records only at Cedar Point anymore and that is good for us! True, however Millennium Force didn’t hold a record(s) like Valravn does. And I agree, this is definitely good news! It’s nice to see records at other CF parks. Just surprised to see CF do this, that’s all.
  25. Love! I think this is the perfect addition to Canada's Wonderland. A few of my initial thoughts: 1. That first drop looks absolutely fantastic. 2. The first "half" of the ride (pre-MCBR) is totally sweet. It's nice to see dive coasters expand to more than just immelmanns. 3. The second half is definitely lacking, but I think the first half is so cool that it really doesn't matter. 4. I'm a big fan of Rougarou's colors, so I love these as well. 5. The name is fine. Most of Cedar Fair's names sound weird at first but end up growing on me. 6. Love the interaction with Vortex! 7. Lastly, I'm surprised to see Cedar Fair take their own record from their flagship park and bring it to another park that really isn't too far away. Nothing wrong with that, definitely not complaining - it's just a little unlike them. I'm glad to see CW get the big, smooth, custom multi-looper they needed. Yukon Striker rounds out a *really* solid top 3! Wonderland is the last "major" Cedar Fair park I still need to visit someday!
