  1. Well, that depends. If you are RMCing your stairs, it is most definitely a new credit. But a simple re-carpet falls under the "GhostRider" category where it likely isn't a new credit.
  2. It also looks like the park is open daily immediately. Has it always been like this? I remember the first week or two being weekends only?
  3. Speaking of Boomerang, does anyone know where it ended up? I know it got sent to the Vekoma factory in Europe for a refurb, but that was well over a year ago.
  4. I'm almost certain they went to support Apocalypse as well. Six Flags has done that a lot... XLR8's trains went to Ninja, Great American Scream Machine's trains went to Viper, etc. No wonder Magic Mountain has been able to hold onto their classics longer than other SF parks! I almost forget that Roar is a GCI, given that it doesn't even feel like one at all. Their older designs were definitely more "CCI" influenced than the twistiness we see from them today.
  5. I love that Six Flags runs so many coasters for Holiday in the Park. I'm pleasantly surprised to see X-Flight on that list.
  6. Roller Coaster at Lagoon, on Saturday the 27th. My last ride at the park for the season.
  7. If you plan on getting the Platinum Flash Pass, you don't really need a plan of attack. You can basically do whatever you want, whenever you want.
  8. As always, I will 100% be visiting SFMM, Knott's, and Lagoon since those are my three home parks. Aside from those, there definitely won't be any big vacations like we did in 2016 and 2017. However, my friend has been itching to get to Cedar Point (he's never been), and I need to get out and ride Steel Vengeance, so a quick trip in and out of Cleveland next summer may be a possibility depending on our work schedules.
  9. Naturally I want to say Twisted Colossus because it is my favorite coaster at SFMM, which I visited two weeks ago, but I had an absolutely amazing midnight-ride on X2 that honestly made me question if I prefer it to TC (I think I do). The ride is still a hit or miss for me but recently I have had great rides on it and it is still one of the best first drops, if not the best, that I've ridden. It could be because we were very tired and it was our last ride after a long, tiring day, so everything felt wilder than usual, but the last row on that coaster is always absolutely nuts in the best way possible.
  10. Had an awesome time on Saturday at Lagoon for my final visit of the season. My next park will be Knott's on Nov. 20th, then both Knott's and Six Flags in December. I am so thankful for year-round parks! lol
  11. I believe this was mentioned before, but an age gap would not be an issue at all. Silver Bullet at Knott's operated year-round for 13 years with two trains, and just this year they purchased a third one from B&M so they can cycle one through maintenance. Not saying Six Flags will do this, which as coasterbill mentioned is most likely anyway, but an age gap between two trains would not be an issue - especially since they are always getting rehabbed with new wheels, part replacements, padding, etc. But given that Six Flags has purchased new trains for coasters before (Goliath and Mind Eraser at SFNE as well as major rehabs like New Revolution and what not), I wouldn't say it is completely out of the question for Ride of Steel to get a second train. But it probably isn't likely either.
  12. Nice report! I share just about all of your opinions on the rides. Kings Island is one of the most well-rounded, solid parks out there IMO. They don't have that huge, single, amazing stand-out coaster like some Cedar Fair parks, but I think that's what makes them so great. I also enjoy Firehawk quite a bit too. I find it the smoothest and most enjoyable of the three Vekoma flyers. I'm also not really shedding any tears that it's leaving since it has a terrible capacity and is likely a maintenance nightmare for the park. Plus, knowing Kings Island, it will be replaced with something much better.
  13. Knott's posted this on their Instagram today. Thoughts? I accidentally cropped out the caption, but it does mention this is for 2019.
  14. Considering the only major roller coaster not operating will be Boomerang, I don't think that's much of a loss. Joker, Superman, Medusa, and even V2, plus the other kiddie coasters and rides will all be open. However it does seem like Wonder Woman will be closed. Obviously no park will operate as many coasters and rides during HITP as SFMM does, given their sheer volume of coasters and good weather conditions, but Discovery Kingdom is by no means "pulling a Cedar Fair." They're operating nearly everything.
  15. This looks great. The Takabisha clone looks awesome, but I have a feeling that Gerstlauer spinner will be the underdog here. What a crazy layout, especially for a spinning coaster!
  16. Surprised to see no posts here today. Happy National Coming Out Day! It has been almost a year since I began my coming out process (as gay). Wow has time flown by. The first person I came out to was my best friend last November, then my siblings in December, and my parents in February. Of course this list of people will never stop expanding, but I have been more happy than ever this past year with my best friend and immediate family completely supporting me along the way. It feels so good to finally be myself and not hide under a mask. I'm so grateful to have an amazing support system. Best wishes to anyone currently going through the process... it gets so much better!
  17. When I saw the photos of the two different versions, I honestly didn't know which one was before or after. I had never really paid much attention! Lol Can't wait to ride Lightning Rod someday, or visit Dollywood in general.
  18. Very interesting. Hopefully Skyline learned some lessons with Harley Quinn and this installation will go more smoothly. I will admit that I like the name and color scheme quite a bit.
  19. ^That is actually quite smart. I think I would prefer this location over the previous one that is on the back of the seat in front of me (which can be quite far away in certain rows). I hope this works out for them and hopefully Cedar Point and other RMCs follow suit.
  20. So if I am understanding the stats correctly, Yukon is the exact same height as Valravn. It just has a longer drop and is faster since it goes underground, right? For some reason it still seems taller to me but I guess that could be because Valravn is part of a more competitive skyline.
  21. That capacity "battle" is actually quite interesting. Both rides have the exact same layout, and the Bat has an extra car per train, so you think that it would win. But then again, the entrance is way out in the middle of nowhere so the trains are probably less full then on Vortex. Interesting!
  22. Knott's and Magic Mountain in two weeks! I'm not really sure of the order, but I'll be doing both parks sometime between the Thursday and Monday. Can't wait to ride HangTime again and ride CraZanity for the first time.
  23. This looks great! The B&M is giving me serious Mako vibes, which I expect to be a good thing. It is a little strange to have it right next door to Skyrush, but the two will have such vastly different ride experiences anyway. They are much more different from each other than the Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland (and probably soon to be Kings Island) B&M Hyper/Giga combos. I'm sure the coaster will be great (I'm a big fan of Nitro and Fury), but Skyrush is still my all-time favorite roller coaster, and if I ever make a return visit to the park, it will be to ride Skyrush again! lol
  24. That seems cool in theory, but I also think it would be incredibly ugly. With that being said, I can totally see a GhostRider-esque GCI makeover for the Racer and/or the Beast, way down the line when the time comes, but I think if we ever see an RMC come to Kings Island, it will be in the form of a ground-up coaster. I would actually LOVE to see an RMC IBox makeover of the Beast or Racer (I’ve always been in favor of building kicka$$ coasters over “keeping it classic” for the sake of its reputation), but given how iconic both the Beast and Racer are for Kings Island, there is about a 0% chance of that happening, ever. It would be fun to see all the enthusiasts lose their minds though!
  25. Thank you, as always, for putting this list together. It's nice to read a summary of everything. We all know 2018 was a very good year, but I would almost argue 2019 looks even better. In North America alone, we have major, custom roller coasters at Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, Kennywood, SFMM, and SFGAm, as well as medium-sized additions at Kentucky Kingdom, Busch Gardens Tampa, and SFDK. Not to mention a floorless conversion and loads of frisbees and other flat rides. What a time to be alive! lol
