  1. ^Capacity issues. It affects capacity quite a bit, however with very efficient ride operators it can be solved.
  2. Bummer that they added seat belts. But it's good that it doesn't have an effect on the ride. Has there been a death, or even an accident, on any B&M? Ever? (From riders aboard the train, not idiots who trespass under an inverted coaster to retrieve a hat)
  3. Awesome photos and awesome footage! Thanks for sharing! As for Helix, does anybody know where the top speed is achieved? There are several fast moments in the ride.
  4. 100% design. My dream is to become the next John Wardley or Alan Schilke!
  5. Assuming that Guardian at CW is successful, I can very safely assume that that ride system will come to Knott's next. Another thrilling flat would be welcome too.
  6. I haven't been on a true terrain coaster, but Helix looks really good!
  7. I'm not a big dark ride person, but this intrigues me because it has a roller coaster part to it too. I would love to see Knott's get one of these to replace Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, assuming the one here will be successful!
  8. In my experience, the big park version of the wild mouse just isn't as forcefull during the hairpin turns as the small compact version. I've ridden 2 of these and they are way more thrilling... don't get me wrong, i enjoy going on this one everytime, but I think the first block run after the drop slows it down to the point that the turns are just not as exciting as they could be.... You're point about the brake after the first drop is true. However, I have noticed quite a difference in the ride depending on the weight of the car. If only 2 people are in the car, it crawls around the turns, but if you pack 4 adults in the there, it goes a lot faster.
  9. Looks okay. I would recommend a lot more greenery and vegetation. As a suggestion, I like to outline my path's with bushes in my parks so it blends in a little more. Also, the layout of the green looping coaster looks quite unrealistic. The double corkscrew is very out of place. Aside from that, Florida Escape definitely has potential, I would just work on the little details that give the park more character. Right now it just seems very bland.
  10. Very interesting to hear your comments about Coast Rider and Silver Bullet. I've ridden Silver Bullet more times than you can count and I've never had a non-forceful ride in the helix. As for Coast Rider, I've never seen it trimmed (aside from the magnetic brakes on a few brake runs when they are needed). I've always experienced wide open brakes on the middle zig zag section. Maybe there were some block issues or something, as I've seen all cars stopped on the brake runs before with riders a few times. It's also nice to hear that GhostRider is running smoothly. I went in early April and it was just an average amount of roughness for me, but still fairly tolerable. I've pretty much gotten used to the ride.
  11. ^They removed Perilous Plunge the year after they repainted it. Don't lose hope...
  12. They re-painted them to a fresh new silver just a month or two ago. What more could they have done? As for this ride removal stuff, I'm placing my money on Boomerang for the next candidate. Knott's wouldn't remove Monty unless they really had to. It's a classic, and they know it.
  13. Cool idea for a thread! 1920s - Roller Coaster (Lagoon) 1960s - Blue Streak (CP) 1970s - Montezooma's Revenge (KBF) 1980s - Ninja (SFMM) 1990s - Raptor (CP) 2000s - Maverick (CP) 2010s - Full Throttle (SFMM)
  14. Did GateKeeper have a 6 hour line at opening? That's insane!! Kings Island definitely has a winner.
  15. Regardless of the layout, I surely hope this isn't a Giga unless it is a company other than B&M. I'm not too fond of this "B&M Hyper and B&M Giga at a Cedar Fair park" idea. It just seems...redundant...to me. Now if Carowinds got an I305-like coaster, that is a whole different story...
  16. It's nice to see such positive thoughts on Banshee. Like others have said, GateKeeper was way over-hyped but was sort of a letdown. And Banshee is the opposite! People went from "ugh it's going to be another forceless B&M" to "that was actually a REALLY good ride"! I'm looking forward to this 10x more than GateKeeper and Diamondback (the 3 big B&M credits I'm going to get) on my family's Cedar Point/Kings Island/Kentucky Kingdom trip this July! Hopefully Lightning Run will get just as good reviews.
  17. -GhostRider (KBF). Even though I ride it on almost every visit, it is getting very rough. I'd love to see the crew that worked at Carowinds come to Knott's. -Blue Streak (CP). It has loads of airtime, but it surely smacks you around. Magnum XL-200 (CP). Again, it has tons of airtime but gives a very bouncy, rough ride. Jaguar (KBF). This is definitely the worst family coaster at Knott's. It's uncomfortable, rough, long, and boring.
  18. It's my second favorite coaster at Knott's, right behind Xcelerator. The loop and and back spike in the back row is incredible!
  19. ^With Knott's renovating their classics recently (Log Ride, Mine Ride), I see them doing this before removing it. Knott's cares A LOT about Monty.
  20. You shouldn't have a problem riding everything you want in one day. Knott's is quite a small park and is very easy to navigate, so hopping from ride to ride is simple. Here are some other things I would mention for your visit. First, the boysenberry punch! It's available at pretty much every food option in the park and is one-of-a-kind to Knott's. And, if you have the time and money, try the Chicken Dinner Restaurant. The wait times can be a little long, but the biscuits and boysenberry jam are to die for! Otherwise, enjoy your visit! And be sure to not miss Montezooma's Revenge; it's sort of the "hidden gem" of the park that gets overshadowed by bigger rides like Silver Bullet and Xcelerator.
  21. ^God that looks painful! There is a knock-off SLC in China called "Dizzy Love and Whirling Passion" http://rcdb.com/4207.htm
  22. The amount of airtime on these Mack coasters can surprise you. The tiny little bumps on Manta at SWSD throw you out of your seat! A few of these hills look quite promising!
  23. Intamin designs and builds several types of drop towers. Why do Kings Island's and Kings Dominion's have to be the same? It's good to have variety. Each park probably wanted their own specifications. That's my guess.
  24. Like others, I'm just glad there are shade canopies. When Knott's added shade to the Coast Rider/Boardwalk rides queues, it helped out a lot during the hot California days. I really don't have a problem with this queue.
