  1. ^I was wondering the same thing. And if this law is a California law, then why did Knott's have one at one point?
  2. Leviathan is the only traditional B&M Hyper coaster (seating 4-across) that has 8 cars per train instead of the usual 9.
  3. ^You know, I've always thought about that too. If a company like Intamin or Mack made Goliath at SFGA, it seems as if it wouldn't get as much praise as it would if it were a wooden coaster. I may be wrong, but I've always wondered how the reactions of coaster enthusiasts would be different if the coaster was all steel, even if it had an identical layout.
  4. ^Sometimes there is a malfunction with the cars in the station, resulting in the other cars on the track getting stopped on the MCBRs due to the block system. I've witnessed that a few times. I wish there were some kicker wheels on the brake runs so the cars could get some speed for the rest of the ride. When they're all gravity powered, the rest of the ride is butt slow if it stops on one of the MCBRs.
  5. Big Spin roller coaster, of course! Superman: Ultimate Flight (SFDK) or Full Throttle (SFMM)?
  6. I could see an AquaTwist coming to SFOT. However, it'd be even better to see a new coaster. I know they aren't the best rides out there, but I feel a B&M Wing coaster would work well. X-Flight clone, anybody?
  7. Nice trip report! Sometimes I forget about this little park. It's great to see that they are improving the park infrastructure as well as fixing up old rides. And it's even better to see a classic Schwarzkopf getting some attention.
  8. It's possible, but I don't think it's Cedar Fair's priority right now. The really want to focus on expanding Carowinds, Valleyfair, and California's Great America first. Maybe we could see a new coaster in the next 5 years, but MA really doesn't have the attendance to immediately add a new coaster. Just my thoughts.
  9. I'm very happy to see CGA and VF on that list. Both parks could really use some love from Cedar Fair. And with Gold Striker and Route 76, that has already started! Cedar Fair has a bright future ahead of them.
  10. I seriously have no idea. Could you give a small hint, like a manufacturer or type of coaster?
  11. Since Cedar Fair seems to like B&M, I think it would be safe to guess that a Floorless coaster is a possibility. Before Banshee, it was 8 years since CF built an Invert, but sure enough, they built one in 2014. I don't see any reason why they can't build a Floorless coaster after 10 years (I say 10 because VF most-likely won't get their new coaster until 2015 or 2016). Valleyfair could really use a decent looping steel coaster. As for where it goes, I would say Excalibur's spot. I could see CF removing that ride in the near future. Edit--My 500th post!
  12. The first person to guess the answer correctly takes the next turn, in this case, it is witting.
  13. I'm going with Xcelerator at Knott's. From launch to brakes, it is a total adrenaline rush! Montezooma's Revenge is an honorable mention.
  14. I would be perfectly fine with them replacing the harnesses to the strap ones (like I305). Even that would be a significant improvement. With all of those sudden turns and "whips", I believe they want harnesses to keep the upper body upright. But back on topic, I think Cedar Point should re-invent the ride with the Iron Box. Make the lift steeper, thus the ride taller and faster. Add inversions, over banks, and airtime. It could set the height, speed, inversion, and length record for hybrid coasters (or, if they use topper track, it could set the height, speed, and inversion record for wooden coasters).
  15. Thank you. Sorry RCT3Bross, I just felt that it was cheating to edit your answer after someone else put the correct one. Here's mine.
  16. An Intamin Impulse with only one twisted spike. Possessed, Steel Venom, Vertical Velocity, or that one in Taiwan. EDIT: Okay, I put the correct answer before RCT3Bross, then he edited his answer. Just throwing this out there.
  17. I went to Knott's a couple days ago, but forgot to post a little report. Better late than never, right? Anyway, I don't have any pictures, so I'll just bullet some stuff. I'll start by saying that my family's goal for the day was to check out Soak City. We've been to Knott's a countless number of times, yet we've never been to Soak City. So here are some of my impressions of my first visit to Soak City. ---It is VERY clean. I've been to 2 other water parks (Raging Waters and Hurricane Harbor), and Soak City felt the most fresh and clean. Well done, Knott's. ---Old Man Falls was tons of fun! The two red body slides gave a great free fall feeling, and the single yellow slide was very fast and fun. We didn't try the Malibu Run slides, however. ---The lazy river was too shallow. Way too shallow. I know it is important to not have it too deep, but is 2'6" really necessary? I remember the lazy river at Hurricane Harbor (which, by the way, is a disgusting green with tons of trash in it) being deep enough where I at least don't have to crawl on my knees the whole ride (for those that didn't have a tube). And this isn't a height issue; I'm only 5'7". ---Overall, I felt the park was lacking some type of slide/attraction. One more big slide complex (like Snake Pit) would really round out this already-great water park. Okay, now on to Knott's. This is my first time visiting since the Mine Ride and Camp Snoopy have opened. Here are my thoughts. ---The new Mine Ride is great! The whole ride felt much more refreshed and colorful. I loved it. My only complaint is the smoke at the end. It has a bad odor, and we witnessed a woman having an asthma attack because of it. ---The new Camp Snoopy is excellent! I was able to ride Linus Launcher and Mud Buggies with my little sister. We loved both rides (I will admit that Mud Buggies actually has some decent airtime!). The whole area looked wonderful. Knott's definitely needed that and they sure did it well. ---Montezooma's Revenge was much better than normal! It was already a great ride, but it ran so smoothly yesterday (it even felt a little fast than normal when going backwards through the loop). It still firmly holds the #2 spot of best ride at Knott's, right behind that one Intamin ride. ---Coast Rider was having some issues. When we visited in the morning (before Soak City), it was closed, and when we re-entered in the evening, it was sending out empty cars. I think it finally re-opened for the final few hours the park was open. And that's about it. I couldn't see any action in the KotD area, but I'm sure something is going on.
  18. I doubt this would be an AquaTrax (being serious here, not using the classic joke!). Why would Holiday World replace an Intamin water ride with another Intamin water ride?
  19. So correct me if I'm wrong, but if Carowinds ends up building a 325-foot giga coaster, will that be the tallest (and probably fastest) non-launched coaster in the world? I don't think that would be a fact worth marketing, but it's still pretty neat nonetheless.
  20. Ninja is a very fun ride, but every time I ride it I think the train is going to fall apart. It feels so loose and "untightened".
  21. ^I go to the park quite regularly too and I find the over banks a little shaky. It's nothing unbearable, but I find it to rattle quite a bit after the top hat.
  22. Both B&M and Intamin have their good days and bad days. On my Cedar Point trip in 2012, Millennium Force, TTD, and Maverick all ran flawlessly, but Raptor got stuck on the lift a few times and had to evacuate riders. But back on topic, I feel that Holiday World would truly benefit from a family launch coaster. Something like Manta at SWSD would be excellent. Even if they went the little more extreme route to a Cheetah Hunt-esque ride, it would still be a great addition. After teasing us for 66 days, I hope it will be something worth the wait. *cough* Full Throttle *cough*
  23. Okay, that makes more sense. I was a little confused when you mentioned the paint brush! Anyway, this looks fantastic! The Silver Bullet drop/Fiesta Village area looks very realistic. Keep up the great work!
  24. ^I have always found that funny too. It obviously doesn't seek wind...
  25. I pretty much lost hope with SFMM a while ago. I'll leave my high expectations and guest experience to Knott's and Disneyland, and I'll turn to SFMM when I want a new thrill coaster. Nathan "forget about a good guest experience; that was lost long ago, and who cares, we're getting an RMC!" Lamoreaux
