There's no such thing as unskilled labour. Every job requires skills. Customer service is a skill like any other, and the above lamenting of the longtime employees not coming back tells you exactly how important customer service skills are. And your assertion that unemployment payments were the thing that was keeping people from accepting work is belied by the labour force participation rate not increasing in the states that removed the federal unemployment benefits. https://www.epi.org/blog/there-is-no-justification-for-cutting-federal-unemployment-benefits-the-latest-state-jobs-data-show-the-economy-has-not-fully-recovered/ -

The pre-social media Internet was awesome. That's pretty much why I'm still on bulletin boards. They're just better. -

^ Yeah, it's so much better now that an algorithm written by a committee of people who won't work at that company 2 years from now gets to decide whether or not the hiring manager even sees your resume. Fun video though! I always like interviews like this one. My favourite part: "We're always expanding...maybe not at the pace people would like." So they know. -

That puts a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather, and a quiver in my lip as if I might cry. -

Adventureland >>> Six Flags. Get the mini donuts. Go to the waterpark. Ride the Underground. It really is more than you think it is looking at it online. -

I personally get a pack of Yuengling every time I travel East. Might be more of a "thing to do while traveling" than an actual judgment on the quality of the beer. -

In KC, get some BBQ. Arthur Bryant, Gates, Jack Stack, Q39 are all great. Really, though, you can't go wrong with any KC BBQ place unless you do something stupid like go to Bandana's or Famous Dave's. Eat at Silver Dollar City and Holiday World. Get anything. It will be fantastic. In St. Louis, the Hill is a great little culture spot. It's our Little Italy, and it's great food in a great atmosphere. Most of them are open until 9 or 10, and Six Flags closes at 7 on the day you're there, so check it out. Toasted ravioli (which despite the name is deep fried) is the quintessential St. Louis dish, get some from anyone in the Hill. Indiana Beach has the world's greatest tacos. That's what they say. I was not impressed. Not much in that area either except lake restaurants with catfish and the like. Maybe just hold off for Chicago. -
Funny how Cedar Fair's business model of loading up their rides with staff for maximum efficiency has the unintended consequence now of ride closures. Whereas Six Flags has always run with a skeleton crew, so no change in service level. When you never hired enough people no matter what, I guess a shortage of labor doesn't affect you as much.
