  1. Y'all, I think we're being a little harsh on Conneaut Lake. Some parts of your day there are really great, like leaving and going to Waldameer instead.
  2. Forget throwing a guitar off the ride, judging by the musical style, it seems he got to ride Voyage in 2003!
  3. Yes, Kings Island and Cedar Point are owned by the same parent company, Cedar Fair. Each one has its own season pass, but the Platinum Pass gets you access to both parks (and all the other ones owned by Cedar Fair). There is also a combo ticket that gives you one day at Kings Island and one day at Cedar Point for around $75. It does not include parking, though, which is about $20 at each park. So tickets and parking for your family of 5 would be $415, significantly cheaper than the Platinum Pass. Kings Island's kids area, Planet Snoopy, is awesome and huge! It has 3 roller coasters that are good for litle kids, and lots and lots of rides, play areas, etc. Your 4 year old will likely enjoy Kings Island more than Cedar Point, which has two small children's areas but even combined they don't have as many things for kids to do as Kings Island.
  4. Welcome Joe! I can help on the Midwestern parks. If you liked Disneyland and are looking for a similar experience, Kings Island is going to be a bit closer than Cedar Point is. Cedar Point has a LOT of rides, but their main focus is roller coasters. Kings Island is more balanced; for example, they have a log flume that is very fun and not too intense, so it's good for all ages, while Cedar Point doesn't have a log flume at all. Of course, if you're going that far, you may want to do several things in the area, in which case the Platinum Pass may be worth it. It's pricey; you'll pay over $1000 for the five of you (but it's not like Disneyland is cheap either), but I think it also makes for a saner pace as well. You can do a couple of days at Kings Island and a couple of days at Cedar Point and you won't have to pay more for tickets, just food and lodging. In between Cincinnati and Sandusky you could take a day in Columbus. They have an excellent zoo and an excellent aquarium. If you prefer to skip Columbus, it's only a four-hour drive between Cincinnati and Sandusky. Plenty of options.
  5. Yeah, I think if FoF was just the first of the spaghetti bowls, I wouldn't have listed it. But LIM coasters have become kind of a big deal, and LSM coasters lately have popped up all over the place, and that feels significant. Now that I'm thinking about it, I had originally not included Batman at SF Great America due to it being a clone, but I'm remembering now that it was the first inverted coaster in general, so maybe that's significant enough to add.
  6. The above same as you, plus a few others: Switchback Railway (ZDT's) - First wooden shuttle coaster Outlaw Run (Silver Dollar City) - First wooden coaster with inversions in the modern era Kingda Ka (SF Great Adventure) - World's tallest Monster (Adventureland) - First Gerstlauer Infinity in the U.S. Time Traveler (SDC) - First spinning coaster with inversions in the U.S. Flight of Fear (Kings Island) - First LIM coaster Buzzsaw Falls (SDC) - First Premier water coaster Mystic Timbers (KI) - First coaster where you go in the shed
  7. NPR: Eric Carle, Creator Of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar,' Has Died. https://www.npr.org/2021/05/26/970974320/eric-carle-creator-of-the-very-hungry-caterpillar-has-died?ft=nprml&f=1008
  8. ^^ Yeah Outlaw Run is rough in the back. I always tell people to ride in row 11 (front row of the last car). Super smooth there and you still get that good good hangtime in the barrel roll.
  9. BIG announcement, eh? Are they getting a Zoltar?
  10. I have to agree, this looks smaller and more generic than Hook's Lagoon. But if everything works, it's technically an upgrade.
  11. If there's a sign, it means someone did it. That's of course not the only conceivable reason why a sign might be employed, but because people, it's always the reason.
  12. That's awesome. Possessed is one of their best rides.
  13. You're cool, Kim. You didn't start anything. That dude has been going around various Six Flags threads lying and pretending the parks have lifted all mask rules. It's a dumb thing to say, but I guess he's bored or something. Maybe a bit off topic for this thread, but on topic for your son: Missouri legislature just passed a bill that says businesses aren't liable if people get Covid unless they actively try to give people Covid. With that law in place, it makes sense that the St. Louis park wouldn't bother with anyone proving anything. I have much more to say about Moleg's "Sucks to be you" attitude, but I suppose I ought to just leave it there.
  14. I said it's what Six Flags wants you to do. That's the definition of "recommend." This is pointless to argue. The real danger is that someone who doesn't know any better will read the misleading statement and not bring a mask. Now that I've posted their policy, that is no longer a concern.
  15. Look dude, you're being an ass. I don’t care how you feel about masks, and I don't care what you do at a Six Flags park. I do care that you have been actively encouraging people on Six Flags threads to break Six Flags rules. When you are invited to someone's house and they ask you to take your shoes off in the mudroom, you don't ask "Is that a requirement or a recommendation?" You're a guest, and you do it just because your hosts invited you. You know this. Quit being an ass.
  16. You're still spreading disinformation. You know damn well that Six Flags wants unvaccinated guests and employees to wear masks. As a timestamp on this post, here's a screenshot of the current policy on the SFoG website:
  17. ILoveMakonnen's back, y'all.
  18. Absolutely agree with all of this, and there's a pretty simple fix to this entire problem: Pay their workers $40 an hour. If you're only working 6 months out of the year, then you need double the money for those 6 months to make up for the other 6 months you aren't working.
  19. $20/hour is awesome! Whatever it takes to get staff, right?
  20. ^ Why did you think the signs were there? Man, that POV...This ride looks incredible. Something to look forward to on an (eventual) NYC trip.
  21. You only say that because you've not yet been to the wonderland that is Nixa, Missouri.
  22. But what if your tour guide is someone cool, like....
  23. I'm done with you. Everybody, continue to bring your masks to Six Flags and wear them whenever you are in a situation where your hosts ask you to. It's only polite.
  24. That's not what that says, and you know it. Stop spreading disinformation.
